Trump Coronavirus (CV in US Politics)

But, by all means, let’s take the high road.

It might actually be better for Biden right now. Attacking someone who's in the hospital would look bad on him. At the same time, this is a good moment to gets Biden's own message out there without constant interruptions and distractions. So cutting the negative ads makes sense - as long as Biden is replacing them with positive ads and isn't just giving up airtime.
If he dies, he will get full military honours, state funeral and a total white washing via CNN, MSNBC and CBS.
The full Reagan treatment. The left should never make that mistake again. A lot of damage comes out of that media coverage painting Reagan as a hero without any criticism.
Here's the short White House statement on the president going to hospital

“President Trump remains in good spirts, has mild symptoms, and has been working throughout the day.
Only the best spirits. This would have worked better if Trump had been a heavy drinker...

A handful of Trump supporters waving flags outside of the hospital, most of them not wearing masks

I genuinely don't have an intuition about how this plays politically - assuming he fully recovers quickly of course. I can see it going either way - people see this as humanising, forgetting how awful a 'human' he is; or that he's clearly an idiot and got what he deserved.

What strange days.

That doesnt take into account that he has already been hospitalized, which happens to only ~10% of cases. Of those, 15% go on to develop serious symptoms that require a ventilator and then it becomes closer to a coin flip as to recovery vs. death.
He released a video all suit up saying that he was going to a hospital. If you ask me a PR stunt. Also, he still on the 90%. In both cases if he survives or dies, is Hope that kills you

It was a PR stunt but only in a way to downplay the severity of what he's facing. A "strongman" like Trump can't afford to get sick and look weak.

The media seems to have settled on the latter, let's see what happens though with the "average" American.

What if he comes back claiming to be in his 2nd coming, that he realises he was wrong about COVID-19 and other things and that he will put it all right in his 2nd term?
Am sure that will soften up some of his critics and engender some admiration amongst confused Republicans who can’t stand him?

Feels like that would take more discipline than he has. But yeah, if he were able to focus it'd be a good strategy.

Wow, took me a while to catchup - he took a treatment that has only been used on 250 humans before?

How, the sweet f*ck was that permitted? Like him or hate him, he's the sitting President. You don't give him a non-FDA approved treatment for anything.

It’s the type of treatment that has been used in compassionate ways, at the end of the saga, not at the outset.

It’s as if he went to play blackjack at Binion’s where the first bet has to be one’s largest bet.

Reality show president...

Put your dislike for Trump aside for a bit..

There is absolutely nothing wrong with it.. If anything, its the right thing to do.

It would be terrible to see the leader of any country being stretched out. Even if his condition is really bad, playing it down publically is the right thing to do.

Sorry. Any sympathy for politically spinning it properly has left the building with me. You’re not wrong, but I cannot praise him for a potentially adroit political move. It simply further shows the vapid shallowness that continues in this administration.
