While I'm generally more on your end of the spectrum when it comes to Pogba, your argument in this reply really doesn't hold water. Not big game player? That's fair about the stats. For clarity, I am not saying it's all his fault, perhaps he doesn't fit the system and will go elsewhere and be great. I've seen games of him playing for Juve and if he was anything like he was there I'd be a huge fan. Their system was clearly great for him and he felt happy.
I acknowledge that his role in big games can be helpful, we had Park who did a similar job (and better) in big games, but no one was pushing for him to be on 300k a week or acting like if he lost him it would have been catastrophic, and he didn't come with all the drama Pogba/his agent seem to bring.
The teams he has scored against don't exactly indicate big game player who comes in to save us:
Out of the big 6 last season (in the league) he played:
- Brighton
- West Ham
- Burnley
- Fulham
- AC Milan
- Roma
Liverpool 2x D1, L1
Tottenham 2x W1,L1
Arsenal 2x D1,L1
City 2x D1, L1
Chelsea 1x D1
That's 0.77777 points per game.
Even if you give him the FA cup win over Liverpool it's still a bit of a sorry picture for someone who is meant to be one of the main men stepping up in big games.
I just think we could get a lot better for 350k per week. But I guess it's all opinion at the end of the day. He's just completely lost all support from me personally wanting more money when he's very lucky to be on what he is.
He could break his leg, tear his ACL by then. It's all risk-reward.The smart choice actually is leaving on a free next summer. Way more money. We're talking about 50m for him and the fat fecker. I don't think we should and could pay them that.
I think it would work nicely for PSG and Pogba.Partly true but it’s also the amount of times he chooses to linger on the ball instead of playing it, often leading to him misplacing a pass or getting run over by 2-3 opposition players. Coupled with his inability in being a box-to-box type of player in midfield.
Anyway, PSG is not a great choice imo. Here he will at least also have the PL to fight for each year in order to become a true great. In France it’s the CL (numerous times) or bust, and they haven’t really showed that they will succeed with that.
Monaco won like 3 years ago i thinkand they’ve since gone out and heavily invested. the first title they’ve given up in like what 7/8 years? they’re 100% winning it this season
No chance the way he's been playing for us. I've never called him this, but there's a reason some here called him Jogba. He could break his leg, tear his ACL by then. It's all risk-reward.

I don't think you should call other posters that way. And no, because it's true that his work rate is quite meh.Because we have some fans who aren't very bright and suffer from selective amnesia when it comes to Pogba?
That's not true. We look more dynamic with Fred and McTominay in midfield than Pogba. He's not the guy who plays quick passing football. He actually does the opposite, receive the ball, look around, and either long pass or pass backwards / sideways. This is much more effective in slower leagues compared to EPL.
Unless you're talking about Pogba the winger.

Piss taking bastard![]()
Of all the criticisms of stats made, this must be the weirdest ever.
The rest of your post makes sense, in that some players do not score many goals or assists to be the creative force of the team. Even Scholes did not have many assists in the second half of his career I think.

Are we still getting sentimental about that 10 game period 2 years ago?Our most dynamic midfield combo during Solskjaer's reign has been a triumvirate of Bruno, Pogba and Matic. I think Fred could offer that as well alongside Pogba and Bruno.
McTominay is anything but dynamic, he plays effectively only one way and that's off the ball, he can't pass between the lines to save his life, something Pogba pulls off with ease. I really think some people here have amnesia when it comes to what Pogba has given to this club and what he's capable of.
If the rumors of Solskjaer's willingless to switch to a 4-3-3 are true one of Fred or McTominay could play less this season. It will certainly mean they both won't play together much anyway.
Took the words right out of my mouth
Regarding the dig about amnesia, I'd say some fans watch Pogba compilations and think that's how he plays for 90'.
He seems to be permanently on holidayHow hard is that? Go ask the fecker!
You mean when he was the only player outside the top 2 in the team season? And are we just pretending he wasn't excellent until he got injured last season? It's incredible how often his good performances are ignored. Are we still getting sentimental about that 10 game period 2 years ago?

He didn't exactly look himself for France either at the Euro's from what I saw of their matches.

He was spectacular for France. Could have had a ton of assists if Mbappe had his shooting boots. What? He was their best player, and by some distance. You sure you watched the euros?

If only there was some kind of thread where people shared their views on a player. Maybe something like a player performance thread where we could check to see what people were saying about him prior to his injury? His last PL goal came in January ffs. Excellent? Are you sure?
Rashford gets pelters on here about last season's form and he ended with 32 goal involvements. Pogba only got 12 despite playing further forward an awful lot after Christmas.
Paul Pogba wasn't close to excellent last season. He's was distinctly average.

No, that's all they'll say. When he gets in the team of the season, it's because he had a couple of good games towards the end of the season. When he was unplayable last season, it was because he was trying to attract attention in the transfer market. His good performances are constantly downplayed, while his poorer performances are blown wildly out of proportion.I don't think anyone is saying that on his day he can't be brilliant. He got 26 appearences last season and 16 the season before in the league. He didn't exactly look himself for France either at the Euro's from what I saw of their matches. If this is a player we were looking to buy and put on those kind of wages for that length of contract I think everyone would hit the roof. If he has another average season there is no chance we're going to be able to shift him if he signs a bumper contract because that's then 3 seasons of inconsistency, overall being bang average and injuries. And then there is the entire circus that comes with him. He's not helped himself in the slightest.
