19 children and 2 teachers killed in Texas school shooting (24 May 2022)

Apologies if already posted. He may be everyone’s cup of tea but he’s consistent on this issue and you can see he feels it and speaks from the heart.

I remember seeing him struggling to speak after the last school shooting and he’s absolutely bang on once again here.

feck Gregg Abbott and feck Ted Cruz.

Sue these cnuts into oblivion.

Personally I think the way forward is to open firearms manufacturers up to civil litigation if unstable people legally acquire their products, even beyond their current liabilities with regard to advertising. Let's see how long these stupid NRA protest last then.

California has passed gun legislation patterned after the Texas abortion legislation.

I will absolutely never understand how someone can be “Christian” and also pro gun, (although I will carve out rifle ownership for hunting as an exception). If you truly believe in a God who preaches about love and kindness how could you ever stand up for the manufacture, sale, and ownership of a tool designed solely for killing of others. How could you ignore the slaughter of children? Pro gun Christians are not Christians, full stop.

My son's greatgrandmother lived in a house on the end of a valley in West Virginia. Her daughter lived 100m away but the next house was about 3 km away from them. There were still wild animals there and it would have taken probably half an hour until in case of emergency police would have arrived. She was partly Cherokee and over 80 when I visited her with my son. Even I would have a gun there.

There is certainly circumstances and places in the US in which a gun will be helpful because of living in distance to others etc. And being Christian does not mean that you aren't allowed to defend yourself.

I just think that there should be rules what and how many weapons are allowed, no open carry and the need to have a "licence" to be able to have and purchase a gun and munition.

There is a really good legal podcast called "Opening Arguments" and their last episode talks about that. Even if someone doesn't win a case, the stuff they can find from the gun industry in discovery could be really horrible for the gun side (like it was for cigarette manufacturers).

I would group your above concern in with my comment on hunting. My real issue is with the ownership of guns whose sole purpose (not use, I am talking about the reason for their design) is the taking of human life, ie, handguns, semi/full automatic rifles, etc. No other “first world” country on the planet has this issue. For God’s sake the number one cause of death in this country for kids is guns! The absurdity of that is beyond any words.

This is just a mental health crisis.

All of these people need locking up in a mental facility.

I don't understand why anyone sane would want the need for a gun, unless it was for competition in the Olympics/Paralympics, even then that is one type of gun, if I am not mistaken....

Madness...

Why on earth is she there smiling showing off her guns, there's absolutely nothing to smile or be proud about it's despicable.

A sport and a skill I get. I mean she probably has talent. What I dont get is why is there a need to keep them in the house/bedroom? Why not in a gun club, safe and locked away? What for? To rub them every now and then? Can they not get some replicas to have at home to snuggle if thats what they are in to?

That is the power of brainwashing. You find it in several jihadi groups. They truly believe that they are doing God's work.

That whole thread is wild. The fetishisation of killing machines is baffling to me.

If she lives out in a rural area, she's probably got a practice facility on her property. A friend of mine had one on his, and we both shot competitively as kids, so we would practice essentially "in his back yard" (his back yard was 30 something acres).

Ah this makes sense. But still if you have a gun range on your property shouldn't you have a secure building? Why are all the guns in her bedroom?

Not to defend her, but they are posed for the picture, as are all the others in the thread.

My guess is that she sees her shooting as a competition sport and may not have the same kind of militia type thing that others have. She has an expensive hobby so I also thinks she takes good care of the guns and has them in cases and/or locked in gun cabinets in the house. That's my charitable take.

I Don't see any problem of her having guns for sporting like this 15 years old girl. I don't mind anyone to have 100 guns and 1000 thousand rounds As long:

- She pass a background check
- The guns don't leave the shooting range, not at home
- Register the guns
- Proof yearly that she is proficient in all the guns

You like guns? go for it. There is nothing wrong on liking them. But it needs a stringent regulatory system to avoid mass shootings. And there are several countries that they have a lot of guns and don't have these problems because they are strongly regulated and control. As long as you comply, you can have your fun

I think I am more offended by the stupid terrible towel. Too many freekin' Steelers fans in the area.

Ah interesting! Will definitely check that out, thanks for the recommendation!
