19 children and 2 teachers killed in Texas school shooting (24 May 2022)

This is just a mental health crisis.

All of these people need locking up in a mental facility.

I don't understand why anyone sane would want the need for a gun, unless it was for competition in the Olympics/Paralympics, even then that is one type of gun, if I am not mistaken....

Madness...

Jesus!

While it's disgusting he made it up, even if true, what's worse

A) Come to shoot as many children as possible
B) Recklessly enabling A by providing the most effective killing machines without checking if they're a nutcase or not
C) Not doing your job to protect and serve and letting innocent children get massacred while cuffing parents trying to save their kids
D) Leaving a door open during a busy warm work day

I mean it's obviously D isn't it?

This both enraged me & made me tear up…

Was thinking earlier that it might feel to the parents like their indivual loss is being swallowed up somewhat by the larger context. Personalising the coffins like with their kid's favourites might make it feel more personal and specific to that person rather than it just being another one of nineteen funerals in the community. I can see why you might want to try and make it more about your own child specifically rather than just being part of a bigger event.

Regardless, it's a nice idea.

Ah this makes sense. But still if you have a gun range on your property shouldn't you have a secure building? Why are all the guns in her bedroom?

It's obviously a posed picture. It would be completely infeasible to have those guns all over her room on a random Tuesday.

It’s not stopping…

These absolutely self-serving cowardly motherfeckers. At this point I don't even know what kind of punishment they deserve. Any I believe in don't seem harsh enough.

I'm not usually one for this kind of approach but drawn and quartered seems about right.

I was thinking about that line from Lucius Vorenus in HBO's Rome though.

“Brawlers and drunkards will be flogged. Thieves will be strangled. Deserters will be crucified!”

If the police department really is refusing to cooperate with the investigation, I really hope they get sued into oblivion

I believe this could be exactly what Madison and Jefferson had in mind while drafting the Second Amendment.

I think they will even if they don't cooperate

can see this dragging on for a decade or more

They'll just make a few people as scapegoats and nothing will really happen in a broader sense. The whole presser where they said one guy on the scene took the decision and the rest just followed it sounded like typical scapegoating.

If you are hoping that the victims families can hold the police accountable, there is not much room for optimism.
Supreme Court ruled in Town of Castle Rock v. Gonzales that the police don't actually have to do their job (the lazy inaction by police in this case resulted in a man killing his 3 daughters then he died by suicide, by cop): Town of Castle Rock v. Gonzales - Wikipedia
