The other issue is that Labour will very much struggle to ever form a government in the UK again thanks to their losses in Scotland. The best we can hope for in a new election is a hung parliament and some form of coalition but Lib Dems would be unlikely to prop up a Labour government and the next biggest party (SNP) I feel would be damaging to Labour as the Tories would point out that Labour will damage the strength of the union just to get in power

I think we'll get a Labour Lib Dem partnership.

Starmer and Davey seem on the same page, the recent by elections clearly had a pact between the two to beat the Tories.

And people think that Trump is worse......

Trust me, Trump was much worse than that. He wanted the Jan 6th mob to literally kill Mike Pence so that he could stay in power. This all has come out over the last few weeks. Until parliament is set on fire no one can claim that the UK is facing a worse situation unfortunately.

Gives Nadine and Patel a run for their money. There is no way she gets within a sniff of leader.

Today has been epic, I have completely forgotten to check if United have signed anyone.

Fortunately the ban doesn't include territories outside of England, and I'll be amazed if it lasts.

As an example as to where the UK is leading is in regards to carbon pricing, and the electricity sector is now generating more electricity from renewables than fossil fuels. A lot of this is industry lead, but it's under the guise of government regulatory and policy framework (much of which should really be accredit to the former Labour government in reality).

Nailed it in one. These vandals have largely only fecked things up and funnelled money towards white elephant CCS, nuclear and wood burning "green" projects. Big talk, small minds.

I don’t know. They are United on their current disdain for the Tories but traditionally Lib Dem voters are more Tory leaning that labour leading. I believe it would be a long shot to see that coalition. As a Labour member, I would much prefer to see Labour in power without the Lib Dems as I still hold a severe level of disdain for them from 2010

You are invited by the monarch to form a government, which something he seemingly can't do now with all these resignations. As much as the monarchy stays out of politics, there has to be a point, or rather situation in which they intervene.
No

It would take an almighty shift for Labour to get a majority with the SNP in Scotland. Even with everything as is, I can't see Labour not needing to form a coalition.

Narrator: They hadn’t.

No I agree. My initial post said the same thing. I would much prefer to see A minority government propped up by the SNP or a confidence supply arrangement with Lib Dems. I just would not enjoy the prospect of giving any formal role in Government to the Lib Dems

The thing is the Tories themselves were struggling to win a majority until the last election which was won based on lies about Brexit.

2010 and 2017 they couldn't do it and 2015 Cameron won with a very small majority, so it's not like they're well placed. I just think that's the way it is now, maybe proportional representation will change that I don't know.

I think the baggage of going into coalition with the SNP would be untenable in the longterm, especially with the moves for a second indy ref for next year. It would be completely nonsensical having a party making up a government in a parliament they don't want to recognise. Would be over before it started.

Zahawi - appointed yesterday. This afternoon - urges PM to resign. This evening - goes back on it and plans a new beginning tomorrow. Quite the week so far

The Times are also reporting he's been secretly planning a leadership bid for months.

Even by Tory standards hes a snake.

Who is actually left? and what figure do we have to get to before its impossible for him to stay?

So if he refuses to quit, more of his MPs leave and we have a load of by elections.

Lets say, all these are won by labour and all of a sudden Labour have the majority seats, then what?

(I know it's unlikely, just curious)

Brexit Hardman Steve Baker suggesting people are ‘imploring’ him to made a leadership bid…

Steve, they’re Labour MPs mate, they’re taking the mick!

No, they’re resigning from cabinet positions and lower jobs in government. They’re not all resigning as MPs.
What we will have, actually do have, is a non-functioning government. A government with the majority of key roles vacant with nobody willing to fill them.
