Erm...
Thatcher and May were both Tory?
Erm...
Right, I misread it as Truss (or Mordaunt) getting in would make them the first female PM. More coffee required...Thatcher and May were both Tory?

They care more about wealth and power than gender or race.
Sidenote: despite the large body of evidence of racism in the party. Lining their own pockets trumps that.
I always find it cynical that they implement the most inherently prejudiced and racial policies with ethnic minority ministers for PR. Priti Patel and flights to Rwanda is a recent example.

What poor background? He went to one of the oldest schools in the UK, Oxbridge, Ivy League, then investment banking and is rich as feck. Cannot be more elite than that and unlike Johnson, is not able to pull off the relatable Man of the People act. Not convinced either that he has any change in mind or a big idea, other than let’s go back to the Thatcher years.
I see his team are quick off the blocks, but they seem to be saying let’s credit Rishi with all the good parts about the economy but he is not responsible for the bad bits (which he could have influenced). He might win the leadership, but I think he has major weaknesses in GE race, including being thin skinned. Labour should look forward to a campaign with him in charge.

New education minister sets example
There's an interesting problem for the Tories if this research from a couple of years ago (it's about the 2019 intake) is accurate. The MPs are to the right of their membership and far too the right of their voters on broad economic policy.Looking like the Tory hopefuls are going to compete by promising bigger tax cuts than each other. Another Tory boom to buy votes, while people don't even realise most of the cash is being trousered by the wealthiest and not them. Followed by bonkers inflation and an inevitable super bust. Great.

Obviously that won't stop them pushing all the usual "tax cuts" "public waste" "incentives" "creating wealth so we can afford the NHS" etc buttons, but it does make it more difficult to find the right salesmen.

Incidentally, the second image that looks at social issues shows that the MPs are way too the left of their voters. Hence all the culture wars stuff we'll be hearing.

Yeah when it comes to policy it’s almost useless to go on polling. People will say they want left wing policy or to fund social programs(Because who doesn’t want that)but they vote for the opposite.Possibly, but not sure how well they can differentiate between what people say, and even think, they believe in, and how they actually vote in reality with crosses in boxes.
Hopefully you mean how pension and pensions benefits are taxed rather than how they continue, considering we have the just about the lowest state pensions in the developed world. The Liberals and then Labour have always stood for reducing pensioner poverty and rightly so.Yeah when it comes to policy it’s almost useless to go on polling. People will say they want left wing policy or to fund social programs(Because who doesn’t want that)but they vote for the opposite.
For example there was some recent polling showing the public want workers to have more power in the economy but also the public think unions are too strong. It’s doesn’t make any sense and is contradictory.
The Tory base will do what it’s done for decades now which is make sure house prices stay high and pensions benefits continue.
That’s what Stalin would do.Possibly, but not sure how well they can differentiate between what people say, and even think, they believe in, and how they actually vote in reality with crosses in boxes.
In these survey things I come out unusually as authoritarian left. Like Stalin maybe. I ignore them
You're on the list for a kick-off.That’s what Stalin would do.
The advertisement is 1)Not building any council housing and 2)calling anyone whats wants it a Stalinist.Houses, yeah, but I'm not sure how the Tories manage to promise to keep houses prices high. By not building any maybe, but they don't actually advertise that as a policy. Allowing mortgage payments to be tax-deductable on buy-to-lets might not have helped of course, even if it's only on the interest now.
Its seems tory voters love the crumbs.Hopefully you mean how pension and pensions benefits are taxed rather than how they continue, considering we have the just about the lowest state pensions in the developed world.
This is like talking to one of the aliens from Arrival. Literally have no idea what your on about.Nah, they just parrot tax cuts tax cuts, and now they've sold the assets they'll borrow for them if necessary, let the future pay. (That's you by the way)
Yeah, this is the guy who tries to present himself as a chilled, regular guy but can't help showing off his wealth by wearing clothes that cost a regular guy's weekly wage.
According to Rory Stewart, he stayed on in the Foreign Office building for 3 weeks after he got sacked, because he didn't want to pay rent on a flat.A guy who ran the country as best he could has lost his job.
Think of all his kids, both legitimate and illegitimate how will they survive now he has no income?
Who will pay for those house/flat refurbishments now?
What about the holidays to Rwanda?
This thread should be closed.
Have a heart Caftards.
Yep, you’re absolutely correct. Whether we like it or not this is the kind of thing that led to the likes of Trump, Farage and even Johnson’s popularity too, they’re “real” which people want because these kinds of politician that Sunak is now trying to portray don’t come across like actual humans. That aside, he is a typical modern politician who is adept at saying what he thinks people want to hear.
His video was full of all the buzz words, platitudes and lots of words that won't offend and mean all things to all men.
To be honest, I hate this slick, polished presentation.
In reality, there is no original thinking. No passion.
Just shiny polished bullshit.
I have questioned Louise and she says I should have made it clearer, that I mean the Tories will have to pay for their tax cuts by increasing government borrowing, which will only cost your generation more in the long run. Enjoy. This is like talking to one of the aliens from Arrival. Literally have no idea what your on about.

Ah my bad I get it now. Honestly the sooner every falls down the better(Or alternative the CCPP will invade and save us!) .I have questioned Louise and she says I should have made it clearer, that I mean the Tories will have to pay for their tax cuts by increasing government borrowing, which will only cost your generation more in the long run. Who exactly do you see calling him out daily? At best he has no idea about the working class or anyone who was brought up without the benefit of wealth providing a massive helping hand to whatever it is they strived to do and at worst he actively despises anyone who is "poor". It's obvious in everything he says and does, plus past interviews (e.g. the one above) and policy decisions.
He's a smarmy bellend, part of me hope he wins to see him getting called out daily.

To be fair, he probably needs some time to get that £800 a roll wallpaper off the walls!I refuse to believe that.
Blo Jo is a bastion of truth and decency!
He’s like the Riola (RIP) of politics
Who exactly do you see calling him out daily?
Basically everyone who isn't die-hard Tory, as they already are beginning to.
(in relation to the cringe #ready4rishi launch vid)
Etc etc ad infinitum
Sunak is a lightweight politician who physically struggles to come across as a 'man of the people'. While he'll have the usual media organisations sucking him off no doubt, gaffes like not being able to fill up petrol, drinking from a £200 mug and forcing his stupid non-existent rags-to-riches tale whilst being worth hundreds of millions of pounds and married to an even richer non-dom billionaire's daughter should make Labour's pitch even easier in my opinion.
So people in the lefty bubble? Perfect.
Meanwhile the BBC will promote Super Rishi.
