Champions League Round of 16 (14th Feb - 15th Mar)

Yeah, that's the only year we fought for the title I think.

The last few years have been shit mostly because Utd have been shit but Liverpool getting really good at the same time just added to the misery.

So us looking like we're getting our act together at the same time Liverpool look like a fecking mess, ah it's just lovely.

Everything coming back into balance again.

Well the first half was fun. Two sides attacking well and defending terribly. Wonder what the odds were on both keepers making howlers like that in the same game? Nunez took his goal well but I thought he was poor. Salah and Gakpo had a good first 45 minutes though. Vinicius is so good.

The second half was men against boys. Ancelotti and Klopp showing the managerial difference between serial winners and occasional ones. It says a lot that Ancelotti can get so much out of his players in their 30's and ours have declined so much. Hard not to admire Madrid and their CL voodoo. It's their competition and they know it.

That was 18% of the goals Liverpool have conceded in the CL at Anfield under Klopp scored tonight. Kind of felt like when Club Brugge play someone decent at home in Europe, go 1-0 up then get absolutely battered. That's it, we're Brugge.

4-0 away win in Madrid coming up...no probably not but it's fun to pretend right?
Fair play. Decent post, and like Henderson, takes guts to face it up. Pretend away.

Playing Madrid, if you don't get a hold of that midfield and try and stifle it, it's an impossible task.

The worry for Liverpool is what you saw coming off the bench in midfield... Elliot and Milner. You have to imagine they're going to have to start Fabinho, Henderson and Bajčetić again. I can't see anything but them being schooled once more.

Liverpool looked very dangerous in the first 30mins so there's hope, but I think against Madrid there's only so long you can throw the kitchen sink at it. Eventually, that trio in midfield will get a grip of the game.

Stats nonces putting faith in this xG shite, instead of evaluating what they’re seeing with their own two eyes, never fails to make me chuckle.

I've never seen xG trigger this many people

It's literally a more systematic way of people saying "oh it was a smash and grab" or "they would have had 4 if he had his shooting boots on"

Owen doing his best to be liked by Liverpool tonight...its not working Michael, no one likes you.

On another note, anyone think Napoli can win it? 2-0 away win in the first leg so they should get through that. I'd fancy them against anyone at the moment.

Hopefully, I think they will fall short even though they are very capable of winning it.

Would love to see Napoli win the CL this year. Unlikely but would be great to see as a neutral.

Osimhen would be fantastic for us as a number 9.

That xG for RM seems a bit low though.

Vinicius goal I'm sure was hard. Benzema 1st goal maybe b/c of the deflection is not a good quality opportunity.
But Militao was allowed to head unmarked, Benzema had gone past the keeper for his 2nd goal, and the Vinicius 2nd one, does that one even count as a shot?
