Harry Kane | Bayern Munich player

Bayern were utter shite from minute 1.
This is a bit exaggerated imo.

Bayern were too wasteful with their chances. Leipzig defended really well and took their chances. And that Olmo guy just decided to have his day. Imo Tuchel should have started Kim and Kane. Both De Light and their lad up front were dogshit.

The lad upfront was Tel and he is only 18 years old, i dont blame him.

I don't either. Imo it's Tuchel who should take the blame here. What was he thinking starting a 18 yo kid in a cup final. It's not a big one but still a cup final.

Choupo Moting and Müller are not fit, only Gnabry as false 9 would have been an opportunity, but he is not good there either.

The game today was a perfect example of last season once Choupo got injured. We broke the bank for Harry because we desperately need a good striker.

The comedy when a Kane led Bayern Munich team lose the title in more than a decade. Very spurs like and appropriate.

I know he just arrived and maybe a bit tired but imo surely he's still a much better option than that kid. Kane would not have missed that huge chance from Gnarby for example.

Kane will be fine. He’ll get Bundesliga’s golden boot and they will win the league. I can’t see them winning the CL though.

I dont think it was his fault specifically. Imho thats just how Bayern are right now, still work in progress under a new manager. Far from a finished product.

That's a very specific comparison to one of the greatest players in the game. Kane doesn't need to be that, he just needs to be the greatest English striker in football history. Now he will just be another really good player who won trophies. Unless he wins the CL, I don't see him comparing favourably with Suarez either just because he has a gimme bundesliga.
He would never reach that target.

Kane is not even the greatest English striker of the last 20 years, that honour belongs to Rooney. Also despite being a complete knob, prime Alan Shearer was an absolute force and better than Kane.

They were already 2-0 down when he came on and he's barely had a day of training with the team. He's used to Song pinging balls in for him so he'll need time to adjust.

But at the same times it's also really fecking funny

To be honest it’s hard not to laugh. All that talk of how he’d get a medal within hours of arriving and it went completely tits up

Nice that the Bayern players spared no expense to make him feel right at home. Winning a medal would have only made him feel more distant.

What will be really funny is if Spurs win a cup this year and Bayern wins nothing! It was him all along!

It would be hilarious if the eternal big game bottler fails to win anything this season at Bayern of all places. With Tuchel in charge its a real possibility.

Rooney had 2 seasons in his whole career with more than 30 goals across all comps. You can make a credible case that he was the better player, but as a striker, no chance he’s better than Kane, not even in this board would you get such a consensus.

Bayern payed 20m€ on that kid at 17yo. It's a price tag that creates expectations to be able to deal with such games.

His first choice was clearly Manchester United. The entire England squad were talking about it in the June camp. He has instead given that power up.

That, admittedly, is partly about something greater. This isn’t about just getting Bundesliga titles, after all.

If he wanted us that badly there was only one way that was happening — he’d have had to kick up a massive fuss throughout the summer like Antony did at Ajax

I'd strongly disagree. It's 2023 not 2003 mate. And he's only 18 yo. Leipzig are certainly not any pushoever either. Bayern have been having a hard time dealing with them in the recent years if I'm not wrong. It's just dumb from Tuchel imo.

They were also pretty much the only seasons where he was played as an outright striker. Not saying he was or wasn't better than Kane but it's closer than you suggest.

You can make all kinds of excuses or what if scenarios but the fact remains that Rooney had 2 such seasons and were washed by the time he was 28, whereas Kane has maintained his scoring rate for the last, what, 8 years? At his absolute peak I’d rather have Rooney in the team because he had other exceptional qualities but as a pure goalscorer I maintain that you would be hard pressed to get the majority of Utd fans to put Rooney ahead of Kane, never mind the football community at large.

He should have probably retired with 34 at Spurs as Sir Harold the Trophyless.

On a more serious note I have respect for him that he took on the challenge. Everyone‘s eyes are on him and the bashing has already started.

Yesterday Tel was the only fit No 9 who had trained with the team, he has spent a year at the club and they hope for him to fulfill that role as first choice for years to come. Obviously they don't expect him to carry them trough the season yet, otherwise they wouldn't have signed Kane, but they trust him to play when they need him.

It's 2023, not 2003, players don't start being first choice at 25yo mate ;)

But most of them don't be first choice at a top club at 18 yo either. Unless they're Messi, Ronaldo Rooney or Mbappe. Obvioulsy the kid is not of that bracket.

The thing about any final is the pressure and the intensity. It's just dumb to think an average 18 yo kid being able to deal with that. Top strikers are top because they rarely would miss when it really counts. That kid would have scored 9 out of 10 with the huge chance from Gnarby in training. Some are born to be cool and cold in that moment. Most need time to mature.

Anyway let's agree to disagree then. It's just dumb to use a €20m price tag of a 17 yo kid to beat him with in a final in 2023. €20m these days hardly get you a championship level striker.

Yes, the price tag isn't important itself. What matters is that he was bought to be build up as Lewandowski's successor. That didn't work out due to his transfer to Barca, but anyway that's the role he should fulfill.

And anyway I didn't mean to beat Tel with it, I just intended to defend Tuchel a bit as I don't think it was wrong to field Tel. That Bayern team should beat that Leipzig team any day and it's just a lame excuse to say it is because of their No 9. They have more problems than just that.

Which could well be how the season at least starts... Kane papering over the cracks until it truly matters. If Bayern use that to really get into a flow they will be fine, but if they keep on playing like that and just add Kane it will be interesting.

Bayern won one, lost one and drew one in their three last matches against Leipzig. So not any day. And it's not any normal match but a final. The thing is he had Kane at his disposal. A much more quality and experienced option. Again let's agree to disagree mate.

It's not high pressure finals, its a season opener which is as good as friendly, or better than friendly and comfortably lower than league game.

No pressure game as it gets.
