Hope we can win this one, most people on here seem to think we're in for a hammering...

Could give a shit less about this game, if United win this one and lose it at Anfield it would be a horrible week, all that really matters is the Liverpool game in all honesty

Apparently not quick enough to create a match day thread . But congrats on beating everyone to it! I know how much it means to you...

You bitter twat, you really wanted it

Better luck next time

feck if I care who makes these threads. I actually watch the games, rather then hovering over my keyboard like a horny pre-teen who was first exposed to porn on the internet.

Congrats on the thread though, your mother must be proud.

If you don't care then shut it

And you keep my family out of this

The feck do you expect to happen creating a thread 2 seconds after the final whistle? As if I was the only one having a jab at you... Comon boy.

We wont be putting players that will start at Anfield

Thats the reason why we won so desperately last Champions League game

so the team will be

Simmo----Pique----Evans----Oshea
Eagles---Carrick---Fletcher---Nani

England midfielder Owen Hargreaves is set to miss Manchester United's Champions League date at Roma on Wednesday due to a calf problem.

Hargreaves sustained the injury while warming up ahead of United's 4-1 Premier League win over bottom-of-the-table Derby County here at Old Trafford.

United are already through to the last 32 of European football's premier club competition and their position as group winners is secure regardless of the result in the Italian capital.

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has already made it clear that a number of squad players will feature against Roma with Michael Carrick, who replaced Hargreaves on Saturday, set to start again while the former Bayern Munich midfielder receives treatment in Manchester.

"Owen strained his calf and we can't take chances at this time of the year. We had a look at it and we decided to bring Michael in for the Derby game," Ferguson said.

With Roma also through to the knockout phase, Ferguson has confirmed that reserve keeper Tomasz Kuszczak will start in Italy. There will also be rare opportunities for Jonny Evans, Gerard Pique, Chris Eagles and Dong Fangzhuo ahead of United's key league game against arch-rivals Liverpool next weekend.

Ferguson is generally pleased with his side's progress this season and added: "In some games we've played excellently and missed a lot of chances.

"Afterwards you're saying to yourself, 'I hope we don't regret missing these chances' but you have to be satisfied with your level of performance because that's what's important.

"I'll play a completely different team (against Roma). They were difficult conditions against Derby and it was a lot of exertion for the players involved.

"I'll take a lot of the first team squad with me because I need 18 players and some of the young players aren't registered.

The Scot added: "I'll go with a completely different team and Kuszczak will be in goal. We'll have Evans, Pique, Eagles, Carrick, (Darren) Fletcher, Anderson, (Louis) Saha, Dong and Nani. All of these players will play.

"It's a great opportunity for them. Roma have qualified and it's good for both teams and they will probably play one or two younger players themselves. I'm looking forward to it."

The team wil be

------------------------ Kuszczak -----------------------
-- Simpson ---- Brown --------------Pique ------ Evans--
Eagles ----- Carrick ----- Fletcher ----- Anderson ----- Nani
-------------------------- Saha -------------------------

I just can't see any goals in any one of them, roma to win comfortably 2-0,just hope they don't maul us.

I'm hoping for:

-------------Dong------------
--Dong--Dong---Dong--Dong--
--Dong--Dong---Dong--Dong--
---------Dong---Dong--------

Definitely the lineup that guarantees no important players get injured before the scouse game. If we bring on Dong in the 70th minute as well in place of Dong it would be even safer

fecking hell...Dong in line for start.
Anderson's going to have to have a stormer.

Cafers having rows over who starts the matchday thread........ God I love you guys!!

Yup about that but this is my interpretation....

-------------------------- Saha -------------------------

Hope the travelling squad is this:

Kuszczak
Simpson - Brown - Pique - Evans
Eagles - Oshea - Fletcher - Nani
Saha - Dong

Thomas Heaton
Gary Neville - if fit.
Kieran Lee
David Gray
Michael Carrick
Anderson - only to make up the numbers
Tevez - same as anderson

If we don't lose 7-1 or worse we are the real winners.

------------PIG--------
simpson-Pique-Vidic-JOS
-------Fletch-Carrick----
Eagles----Tevez----Nani
----------Saha---------

boring 0-0

I think even with a second string and a few borderline first teamers if we get our tactics right we could pull off a 1-0 win or draw quite happily.

Roma's bitterness could well get the better of them......

Roma away with our strongest team is a hard task. Fielding a weaker squad that doesn't usually play together I expect us to lose. But I expect Roma will also field a weak side because of their hopes in Serie A, they'll probably view this as a good resting opportunity as well. However, being at home and after what happened last year I imagine they'll have more desire and feel a bit more preasure from fans to go out and win it.

It'll be a good experiance and a run out for some younger players and people who could use fitness but I don't expect we'll get anything out of it. Probably lose 2-0 or something in a dire game. I guess you never know though without any preasure they could just go out and play relaxed and it could be a good game...

In all fairness who bloody cares? We've won 1st place, let them win. We should try and keep all our key players in good shape for the game vs the scum, we need to make sure we win that one, hopefully the russians can hold arse to a draw if not a loss, and we can return to 1st place.

Considering the meaninglessness of the Roma match and the massiveness of the Scousers match I wouldnt be at all suprised if SAF played a totally different 11 on Wednesday.

Well there is a bit of a clue...

You hit it spot on... I'm sure they'll all be drooling until the final whistle on wednesday to create the Pool thread.

Stay on topic or stay the feck out, UGETME?

Dong will be benched imo

O'shea, Fletch, PIG, Saha, Eagles, Nani, Simmo, Pique are definete starters for me. Which leaves a few places up for grabs, Fergie may use Carrick and some other established players or he may unleash the likes of D-D-D-D-DDD-OOOOONGGGGG

The Polish International Keeper (PIG)

Simmo Pique ??? O'Shea

Eagles Fletch ??? Nani

Saha ???

kuszczak
simpson pique brown oshea
eagles fletcher anderson nani
ding dong sahahahaha

@ pert dont act like a bellend, cant you be friendly ffs unless your a scouser

i hope saha plays the full 90 mins he needs match fitness and we should not field a cack side to get creamed all over the park...we should rest ronaldo, giggs, vds and give rooney 45 mins other than i would be happy with a draw.
