CL: Olympique Lyonnais vs Manchester United F.C

It's set up for an Anderson goal tonight.
I like the look of that side, but as people have said, it's harsh on Carrick.

45 mins to go, i cant wait

i love european nights, especially knock out round ones, first legs are normally pretty shit tho

Agreed. I don't understand the positive response to the lineup. I feel quite sure we'll see Giggs trying to play as a forward, and failing.

 he wont be up front. Anderson will be and he is great behind the striker. Giggs will play some balls on the wing probably, but most of the time we will come from the right side or through the middle.

?

Maybe we're saving Carrick for the might that is Newcastle

Fergie obviously thinks this midfield is whats needed for an away game in Europe, each of our midfielders bring different qualities.

So Tevez joins United to play in the Champions League and ends up at the bench...

Apparently, Lyon is playing with a defensive team, we will have to impose our rythm and play at our pace, something that we haven't done yet in away games in Europe...

Carrick's been our best player of late. He should be playing

I bet Hargreaves puts in a MOM performance.

Just to P you off.

To be fair, Carrick's the in-form player.

Official Line-up
Van Der Sar
Brown
Ferdinand
Vidic
Evra
Scholes
Hargreaves
Anderson
Ronaldo
Giggs
Rooney

Subs: Kuszczak, O´Shea, Fletcher, Carrick, Nani, Tevez, Saha
The bench is fantastic.

I think it's:

-----------------Van der Sar--------------------
Brown------Ferdinand-------Vidic------------Evra
-------------Hargreaves-------------------------
----------------------Scholes-------------------
Ronaldo-------------Anderson--------------Giggs
-------------------Rooney----------------------

Something like that.

------------------------VDS--------------------------

Brown-----------Rio-----------Vida--------------Evra

CR7----------Hargo----------Scholes-----------Giggs

---------------Anderson-------Roon-----------------

Scholes + Giggs may be subbed if one under performs so no worries for me.

Not a chance....even if Scholes does nothing other than give the ball away and Anderson is playing the game of his life, SAF will still probably take Anderson off to bring on Saha/Tevez rather than Scholes.

Giggs may get subbed off if he is having a poor game though.

No need to predict the formation, it'll probably be a all of them during the game.

----------------VDS----------------
----Brown--Vidic----Ferdinand---Evra
---------Scholes----Hargreaves------
--------------Anderson--------------
Ronaldo-------------------------Giggs
---------------Rooney--------------

away in Europe and lining up with Rooney on his own up front... well doesn't sound too promising. I think Carrick and Tevez deserved to start.

Anyways, the last time I had a bit of a whinge about our line up was before the Arsenal game and we all know what happened then. Lets hope for the same here.

Come on United!!!

Is it fair to say now that this is the sort of game we bought Hargreaves for?

This is where he has to start proving himself for United. Big day for him, especially since other players deserve to start based on form.

A lot of people seem to be resigned to Giggs having a bad game and being subbed for Nani second half or something. I think he'll put in a good outing and use his experience well.

Fletcher could be a one off, so i dont why every one is up the dick about that, i can see why you moaning about Carrick but Scholes is a player who i believe more likely to turn up when going gets...
