Club or Country?

In general, Club > Country, but in this case Country > Club.

United have been ridiculously succesful recently, whereas England have failed to do so. I would love to see England win the WC in my life time. So, all things considered I would choose England winning the WC over a United treble...because for United, success always awaits next season :D

If the question was Exeter City in the Premiership or England winning the WC on the other hand, I think I'd go with City in the Premiership

What a contradicting statement in one post!

You just do not love United enough to want it to win the treble, whereas you love Exeter City to be in the Premiership over England winning WC!

It's always United > Country for me... maybe not the Charity shield... oh wait, I guess Charity Shield > Coles/Terry/Steveme winning the WC

I would if I spent half my time trying to grope passing local women, and singing songs about Pakis and the Second World War.
So if you are a England fan this is all you do  United fans can just be as worse, some of the hate for England when half the team plays for United is crazy. Its just brainwashing and bigotry Rangers would be proud of when United fans hate England. England are not rivals. Not even going to speak about FC United.

yeah dont speak about FC United, cause thats allowed. deemed alrite by top reds.

For the purpose of this thread, can we know everyones nationality? For example Cal are you english? If yes, then :wenger:. If not, what about your own country winning the world cup?

Yes, and I don't see how the likes of Stevie Me, Terry & co winning the WC should make me happy.

I'd rather Portugal won the WC as they have a player I adore and not one that I hate.

Sadly I have to agree with United every time. There was a time when I was passionate about England, but the older I get the more I hate the FA. They are a bunch of cnuts of the highest order - just take the latest ABU stance of theirs - has the FA ever appealed a verdict against them before (ie SAF and CQ).

I also have vowed never to set foot in the new "Wem-bur-lee", I will not give the cnuts one penny. The place should have been demolished, a massive sewage works erected in its place, and a new national stadium built (with access for all) in the midlands.

So you dont hate Carvalho? I sure do.

And Rooney, and Ferdinand, Hargreaves, (Carrick if capello switches on), Brown, prob Foster not winning the world cup will make you happy.

Rooney wants to go down as one of the greats of the game, and for that to happen you generally have to perform on the International stage if you can (obvious exceptions are giggs and best) Just think thers a lot of hypocrisy in this thread.

Unfortunately the other half I really really really hate.

If Rio, Hargreaves, Rooney playing for England gives them 3pts, Stevie Me, Terry & Laumptard is -3

I don't hate Carvalho anywhere near as much as Terry...

3-4 United players winning the WC is cancelled out by 3-4 Scousers/Renties winning the WC...

So I'd rather Portugal...

United always always over England. I don't have a problem with the England team themselves, I do however have a problem with some of the fecking scum who go to England games. I got some free tickets for an England game and the whole experience was sickening. As we were walking down Wembley way there was a Pro-Palestine protest and some of the abuse they were getting made me ashamed to be English.

Think back, if your footballing support goes that far, to the days when the England team contained Sheringham, Neville & Neville, Butt, Scholes, Beckham, Cole, Brown, etc, etc, and remind me, just hoe did the England fans recieve them????

Nothing but vile abuse, wishing death on Beckhams wife and child, 'Stand up, If you hateMan Ure, and so on and so forth. You're right mate, we did provide half the team, and this was how were they recieved.

As a result of all this continuous abuse directed at United players when representing their country, I find it extremely difficult to have a real affinity with them, because their fans, in the main, are small minded and biggoted, biggoted towards United.

Now convince ME to change MY mind where England and their contemptible, small fecking time supporters are concerned.

To be honest i never expected fans with Liverpool, City, Chelsea, Millwall, Leeds...should i go on, to give United a warm welcome after all our dominace of the 90's. Don't be as bitter and hateful as them, rise above it. Crouch got booed at Old Trafford, just bitter and hateful. Thats what football seems to be with fans. As always.

I don't see why Crouch shouldn't be booed at OT simply ***** he's wearing a white shirt rather than the Dipper away shirt.

Harken at Jeremy fecking Kyle here.

Don't be angry and bitter, angry and fecking bitter, I don't go out of my way to wish ill health and death on players of other teams, even when they are playing against United, never mind when they are playing for England.

Also I notice you take the obvious route of singling out some of our historical rivals (and Millwall and Chelsea as well ) to illustrate your argument. I can almost give these supporters a modicum of leeway when it comes to abusing United players, after all, their dislike is a continual thing due to long time rivalries. How do you explain the supporters of Northampton Town, or Halifax, or Southend United and all the other minnow clubs who provide intregal parts Englands support?? How do you explain them joining in with the anti United chants, because it wasn't isolated pockets doing this, it large sections of the crowd. Where is the history between United and these clubs that warrants such despicable behaviour.

Explain to me, how people who profess to have no club allegiance, and simply follow England, still find it necessary and acceptible to abuse United players representing England. I'm sorry, but they have shit it as far as I'm concerned and deserve nothing but my contempt.

Angry and bitter, I don't know about bitter, but I'll tell you what makes me angry, bleeding heart fecking liberals, lets all be nice to each other, get fecked. When these pricks earn my respect, they will get it, but no way will I turn the other cheek to such fecking cretins. It must be nice living amongst the tweety birds and flowers like you do in 'Ideal World.'

I've followed England and United around Europe for the last 10 years and I can tell you that, generally speaking, United fans know how to behave and England fans do not. I've never heard United fans singing songs about hating "pakis" for a start. That's not to say there aren't nob heads amongst United's travelling support, or that some England fans aren't spot on. But there's a world of difference.

The Chelsea and Millwall comments, it could be any fans but i am sure most of the people who did it (booed United players) jumped on the bandwagon and have no real hatred for United. Its like a snowball rolling down a hill all of this and some of United fans love it as they have always hated England. Fueling the fire. Its only football.

This post is spot on.

United players playing at Wembley for England and the crowd on their feet chanting "Stand Up If You Hate Man Utd". Effargies of Beckham being hung after he was sent off in '98, fans jeering Phil Neville when he missed a chance for England, United fans travelling abroad with England being physically threatened...

England are far worse than United no doubt. Both have bad fans. Most good, some bad. The same story everywhere.

What do you mean by that then?

Was going to saying I couldn't give a feck about England, but if I'm honest I do. When we play I want us to win, it's just a shame that we're shit! Cappello is looking like he could be even more boring than Sven & whatshisname that used to be with us.

Ill just answer the original question and move out of this thread.

Club or country? if put that bluntly club, without a question. But there is a space for England in me. And when international footie comes on, no I wont be supporting Portugal, or Argentina, or Germany or any other country. Id want England to win the match, like one of our players to star, and then its back to the club I love. And when the season is over and an international tournament begins, Id want England to win the damn competition. And then that would be that. And then Id look forward to another season with United. Yes somehow you can do both. And I dont see how there has to be a tradeoff. Im not talkin about actively supporting england by paying loads of money to see them, money that could be used for United. Im talkin about puttin on the telly and wantin them to win. Because as much as I hate Terry and Gerrard (no for some reason I dont hate Lampard, shoot me) I love Rio and Rooney. And want them to win every game there in. And that includes England.
