Club or Country?

Your idiocy shines through with every post you make.

Do carry on.
I will do.

The answer to the first post = club. I cannot stand England and anything English, im from Manchester not England. Republik of Mancunia  I would rather United win a throw in than England win the world cup. YCSYFEUYA!

I think its healthy to have a sense of pride in the achievements of one's home country.

So how come you have none?

A love that asks no questions, eh?

Let's draw up a list of this country's achievements and have a discussion about what we should be proud of shall we?

Perhaps start with Iraq and go from there?

Well they cannot wait until some dies or a football club goes bankrupt. Either one would make them happy. Lovely.

Ah, the old myth that FC United fans want MUFC to go bankrupt. Please do continue to illuminate us with your knowledge on this subject

Where did i say Manchester United? I thought you would all jump on it so i left it open. fecking hell, target practice at me for most of you becuase my opinion is not the same as yours. Common trend in this forum. I meant Liverpool FC really if you must know.

It's fecking pathetic, I'm not personally a follower of FC although I bear them no ill feeling either, but for one, I have no idea why he even raised that in this thread and two I have no idea what his point actually is.

FCUM fans want LFC to go bankrupt? But MUFC fans don't? :wenger:

It gets better.

Do you even know what you are talking about?

Theres a lot of good things as well mate. You have to look at both sides of the coin. It seems your almost ashamed to be English.

Leave the pratt alone, i did.
Not worth the effort, it's not like FC Fans ever supported Utd or anything.

To answer the original question, I would take United. Provided it's not an Emirates Cup - Charity Shield - UEFA Cup treble, of course.

Being Icelandic I'd rather see Iceland win the world cup than Man Utd grabbing a treble... Man Utd has one treble already but the chances of Iceland winning the world cup are significantly lower than my chances of sleeping with every woman in the world by next tuesday.

May I be the first to wish you good luck in your venture, and may I request, that before you get to my house, you ring the wife first to make sure I'm not in, I mean, a little common courtesy and consideration is not to much to ask is it????

Sure thing, a little courtesy is not a problem on my behalf.

You need to set more realistic tasks for yourself Bynni. I recommend you shag every woman in Iceland by the end of the 2008/09 football season.

We'll expect regular progress reports.

And pictures. The thread would be useless without pictures.

With my track record in recent months, the season 3987/88 would be a likelier bet...

You are more honest than most on here about their sexual conquests. Or the lack thereof, whichever it may be.

Usually the second.

I do have an excuse for my lack of conquest though... I decided to focus on my studies and Man Utd this season... it seems to have worked quite well.

Indeed, well done. Any chance you could remain celibate for the next 3-5 years?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

A lot of me agrees with you ralphie. However, 'A love that asks no questions'; A line from 'I Vow to Thee my Country', such an inspirational hymn. Mentioned in a recent thread on the Caf, as it happens ('A rugby anthem') and of course the work of Gustav Holst (Venus, from 'The Planets'). Holst (really Von Holst - a germanic aristocrat, albeit from a Swedish family) was an early socialist, vegetarian and was keen on Hindu mysticism and spirituality.

I think what is probably most praiseworthy about England is this very diversity. Yes, we may dwell upon ill-judged wars and certain elements of our imperial adventures, but only in England could such a figure as Holst be adopted as representing that strand of understated patriotism which we espouse. The culture of tolerance and diversity thus exemplified endures even today. In marked contrast to most other shallow nationalistic cultures. And yet, I too find even our understated patriotism embarrassing, never more so than when witnessing the moronic 'Ing-er-lund' and cross-of-St George flag explosion attendant upon every World cup or Euro tournament for which we qualify. I was actually overjoyed when we failed to reach Euro 2008 for the very reason that it would spare us the nauseating spectacle of (very un-English) jingoistic self-indulgence.

United is tribal. Ing-er-lund is nationalistic. There's a political dimension to the latter which can be harnessed in such a way that it results in The Somme.

So Get fecking In United!!!

And feck Ing-er-lund

I've followed England and United around Europe for the last 10 years and I can tell you that, generally speaking, United fans know how to behave and England fans do not. I've never heard United fans singing songs about hating "pakis" for a start. That's not to say there aren't nob heads amongst United's travelling support, or that some England fans aren't spot on. But there's a world of difference.

There's a generally racist current running through football crowds anyway.

I wouldn't necessarily single England fans out for it.

I mean amongst our won support I cant believe how the Adabeyor chant has took off and Park Park is one of the more popular songs at OT.

I have been to most of the competitive england matches over the last 5 or so seasons and haven't noticed a particluar hatred against united either, I'm not saying it doesn't exist I'm just saying I think it's being overhyped in this thread!

A hard question for me. Very close indeed. The fact that England have some morons for fans in no way dampens my enthusiasm for the national team (same for Chelsea actually).

Probably Chelsea, but only just.

Now if you said a world cup win beating Germany on penalties (revenge for 1900, the only time i've cried after a game) in the final, then England.

So here's a question: if you had to choose between either united winning the treble or england winning the world cup, which would it be? (to the non united supporting fans, your club winning the treble or england winning the world cup)

For me its united every time.

I'll choose England over United winning a FA cup or less provided their starting eleven is

1) Ben Foster
2) Gary Neville
3) Phil Neville
4) Rio Ferdinand
5) Wes Brown
6) Owen Hargreaves
7) Michael Carrick
8) Paul Scholes
9) Wayne Rooney
10) Frazier Campbell
11) David Beckham

As for the league or Champions league, its United every single time. Quite simply, i don't feck a flying feck about England's fortune.

What a contradicting statement in one post!

You just do not love United enough to want it to win the treble, whereas you love Exeter City to be in the Premiership over England winning WC!

How about you read my post and stop being a dickhead? I said "in general". You even highlighted it for feck sake.

With United, there is always success - success that I have witnessed, and inevitably there will be further success in the future. I would love to witness my other teams, England and Exeter, experience their own success. England winning the WC could be a once in a lifetime experience. That absolutely does not mean that I prefer either of them to United.

So how about you keep your useless opinions to yourself?

!

The Park song is not racist though (unless you mean racist towards Scousers!)

Anyway my national football team (you can't even call them that) is shit and aren't going to win anything in my lifetime so United always comes first. Nationalism is overrated anyway.

I don't have a strong sense of pride in any country seeing as my parents are both English and I was born in Australia.

I just don't have an international team, so United every time.

So you wont support them because they are shit.

What if united end up being shit will you go and support chelsea?

When did I say I don't support them? I meant the Indian football team is not going to win the world cup within my lifetime probably so the scenario the poster asked about doesn't even apply.

I like the way the word 'die' is worthy of a capital letter, and yet England isn't. Sums up a certain mentality rather succinctly as far as I can see. These things really do beggar belief some times.

:lol::lol::lol:

As an outsider it was always one of the England numbers that baffled me. I mean you are English till you die? What does that even mean? When you die you stop being english? you are not a dead englishman but just a dead man?

That song along with changing the word England from a 2 syllable word to a 3 and the horrific brass band thing that plays the great escape theme on repeat coupled with fans booing their own players in a massive 90000capacity wembley utterly deviod of atmosphere. I am actually not surprised alot of United fans don't give a shit about England.

You are taking a couple of isolated incidents and assuming it's the norm.

a) the band can do wonders for the atmosphere

b) england fans have booed the players on isolated occasions, its not a regular occurrence. Some of the views on here make me think alot of the united fans haven't actually been to an england match yet they feel they can preach about it. United are not whiter than white we have booed our own players on many an occasion.

c) United have a 75,000 stadium which most of the time is devoid of atmosphere
