Rafael

The boy has potential but its too early to play him against a physical side such as Bolton.

I'd go with Brown too.

Didnt get to see the match. But if he kept Downing quiet, thats good stuff. Seeing as Downing mullered Brown last year. But Bolton is not a side you'd want small fullbacks to be playing against. Evra's superman-leap makes up for his size.

Get him on the bench vs Bolton. Give him some minutes if we're leading by two goals.

He's by all accounts a future starter, he needs games.

Wonderfully gifted player, but there was something almost Heinze-ish about his tackling last night!

When he's worked on his positioning and his ability to stay upright, he may well turn out to be a frightening player. He's almost as unorthodox as Evra, which is a good sign. :D

I'd say West Brom at home on the 18th October is a better shout at a starting position than against Bolton (who can be a very tricky team to play against).

You've got to pick and choose where to play a talent like Rafael. He'll be given a handful of starts this season and play in the majority of the cup games. Next season will be the one where he really starts pushing for regular appearances.

Very good player who can get the crowd cheering (which is very important). If you remember Evra and Heinze used to dive into tackles an awful lot. Evras cut that out of his system whereas Heinze always used to do it.

I don't know if his defensive frailties will be hidden more whilst playing for the first team. The fact that Rio and Vidic are there convering may help him get away with it.

Rafael and Fabio look like Mery and Pippin :)

So, in the future, if one brother is injured, and the other one is suspended, we can play the suspended one under the name of the injured one?

Fantastic.

lol, I have heard they aren't quite identical.

Beats me what the difference is though. Haven't seen enough of either of them to work that out.

one can hit the target the other can't ;)..

Fabio and Rafael make me happy in a almost entirely non-gay way.

He'll probably be murdered against a very, physically, tough Bolton side.

I know people talk of his defensive deficiancies and yes they exist though we've seen with Heinze, evra that you can play in the first team and improve. You'd probably improve quicker alongside established players but additionally our players know what the boy is like and so cover for him well.

But in terms of attacking, he's always liable to create something. He's an intelligent player going forward. We used to be if they score 2 we'll score five.

I think we've got so used to a solid backline people may put the focus on a strong defender first and then attacker but I think rafael against newcastle say, might have made a difference because he is capable of sparking things off

fecking quality going forward, adds that extra dimension evra brings on the left flank.

his defensive positioning can be questioned though.

Dived in again, needs to get that sorted.

Great going forward as he has been in every appearance so far.

Top top talent.

He needs to play as often as possible.

Extremely impressive going forward, dribbling was fantastic and even his left footed shot. Positionally he needs to improve and if that's a problem, I wouldn't even mind seeing him on the wing. Looks a top class prospect.

Needs to work on his defending. Makes many interceptions due to his pace, certainly got the talent and is an exciting young player!

positionally a bit naive, but that comes with experience playing at the highest level. gutted for Brown though.

Very impressed with him today. Some excellent forward moves, doesn't seem to be scared to take a chance and looks a feisty player too.

I think we have a great prospect on our books with Rafael. Granted it was against a very poor Aalborg side, but hopefully his performance will give him the confidence to continue his good form.

He may well do, but it's only a slight possibility. Bosingwa, Sagna and Alves will be peaking at around that time so if he's going to be better than all those three in a couple of years he's going to have to improve massively.

He played very well today. Ironically, he was probably our best attacking player. He lost the ball a hell of a lot less than the rest of them anyway.

He has good speed, good crossing, good passing, good shooting and good dribbling. If he could add defending to that he will be a super player.

I must say though that I was extremely disappointed to see him signalling to come off. Maybe I am being harsh or even wrong, but I couldn't see any sign of an injury on him. He was running freely at the time. He should have stayed on.

Overall, super performance. I would play him in the majority of matches over Brown and Neville.

.

I think it was the hole in his knee from the hack about 5mins earlier which did him.
