Manchester United Vs Derby County

-------------Foster---------
Rafael--Evans-----O'Shea---Fabio
Nani--Anderson--Possebon--Tosic
-------Welbeck--Tevez--------

"All the young players will play. I won't risk the league campaign for the League Cup and I think the young players will do well (on Tuesday)," said Ferguson.

"In an exciting atmosphere like that you find out a lot about your young players, Danny Welbeck, Darron Gibson, Rafael, the young boy Zoran Tosic, are going to be involved.

"His (Tosic's) work permit should be through and he might even start but I will make my bench very strong. The ones who have been involved will be involved in the final hopefully if we get there. They deserve their chance."

I hope our players dont disappoint us this time.

League Cup Semi Final - Home Leg
Old Trafford
Tues 20th Jan 2009
KO : 20:00 BST

Are you sure kick off is 20:00 BST? I thought they would kick off at 20:00 GMT as usual.

WEll, SAF has said he would play all thee youngsters so this would probably include Gibson. Might be too early for Fabio, but could also include Chester for a little experience just in case for future matches.

Tx

I really don't see the point in Gibson, i mean he's not that bad but doesn't offer much at all, if he does play i hope to feck it's not on the wing again. Gibson/Carrick might make a decent midfield. I think Nani and Park are nailed on to start, Tosic to come on in the second half hopefully.

Just when you recover from the last United game its match day. Really is an insanely busy season for us this year. Hope our kids do us proud tonight, its about time we hammer a team.

I'd rather we play a stronger team than the first leg considering the next CC game could be the final. Kill the game off in the first half and then give the likes of Gibson and Welbeck the second half.

I hope we play a strong side, and please leave gibson out.

Tevez and Welbeck upfront I expect.

Manchester United (from): Kuszczak, Foster, Amos, Rafael, Neville, Vidic, Evans, Chester, O'Shea, Fabio, Ronaldo, Nani, Carrick, Scholes, Fletcher, Gibson, Possebon, Anderson, Giggs, Park, Tosic, Tevez, Welbeck, Macheda.

Wellbeck and Tevez will start, can see Tosic coming on at half time. Giggs in the middle of the park with Possebon and Gibson on the right, Nani left.

I hope the brazilian brothers of destruction both play. But more likely Fabio on later in the game for Rafael and O'Shea switch sides.

Looking at this squad we should have more than enough.

My only preference would be that Foster start, as Kuszczak just seems to come across too nervous and he doesn't fill me with confidence...so imagine how the defense feels.

Other than that I'd love to see Fabio and Tosic get a little match time.

But as long as we win I really don't mind who plays!

SAF said he's make sure he has a strong bench which I guess suggests Ronaldo wont be starting :(

Reckon Fergie will go for this team selection:

-------------PIG---------
Rafael--Evans----O'Shea---Fabio
Nani--Gibson--Carrick--Tosic
-------Welbeck--Tevez--------

I liked the look of Gibson & Carrick when they played in the centre in the last quarter of the first leg, it was hard to know who was who. Gibsons confidence grew whilst alongside Carrick - bodes well!

I'd love to see the twins starting a game too, that would be something else. I cant recall this ever happening at a big club like United in world football. The media would lap this up in a very positive manner - aslong as we dont get knocked out that is :nervous::devil:

Gibson in central midfield please. He's wasted on the right and we could do with developing him as an energetic option for that position. We've looked a bit weary in the middle of the pitch lately.

SAF should play the first teamers IF we get to the final. Spurs would demolish our youngsters. A trophy is a trophy afterall!!

I think Ferguson bases his starting XI on the opposition. I don't think you'd see a team full of youngsters if and when we make the final.

I hope we do see a few debuts tonight. Not at all bothered about the result of this match. A good performace will do me nicely.

I wonder will fergie really take the piss and play chester, rafael, fabio, possebon and tosic from the start. In terms of Park Id prefer to see Nani given the start tonight. we need Park fit for the first team, Nani not so much.

I will always want a win for my team no matter who we are playing or what competition it is in. I want to win this cup.

Obviously we would all want to see United win, but the question is at what cost. I would definitely like to see Vidic rested or at least benched. We are playing them at home, unless our midfielders play a shocker they shouldn't be given any chances to threaten our goal.

Its not like I want them to get beaten tonight I’m just being realistic, We cant win everything and looking at the fixture list in the coming weeks this competition could end up being a distraction from the real trophies.

That being said Id love dearly to see the kids go on and win it but I dont want any of the 1st team been risked for what in reality is a 3rd rate trophy.

Our team is currently at a level where winning the league and in Europe is a distinct possibility, NOTHING should get in the way of this.

Ronaldo should start in my opinion and finish the game off as quickly as possible, this is a semi final after all, we're in with a chance to add to our trophy cabinet and we should look to do so.
