Manchester United vs Aston Villa

Any news on Berbatov since you're predict him in the line up?

Can't remember where I read it and its probably bollocks. But there was an article with O'Shea warning his team mates about Berbatov. I think it isn't as serious as we all thought it was. I've got a hunch he'll be fit enough to play for us.

I think it is our biggest game of the last 10 seasons.

If we don't win I can't see how we will come back. We will have thrown away a massive lead in a year when we had the chance to equal Liverpool's record of 18 titles. And instead we will let them win no. 19 and they can say that their 4-1 over us was the turning point!

Come back? We will still be leading with 1 point if we feck up against Villa! (touch wood)

Some people need to grow a pair - Liverpool will also have occasional slip ups. We're Manchester United, we always do it the hard way. We have a stronger squad than them, and experience with the pressure of title run ins. Liverpool haven't been in one for I don't know how many years and I'm very confident we'll end up as champions.

Facht.

I'm still confident too, but I think some people are just looking at the possibility of Liverpool beating Fulham, they then go 2 points ahead of us. We could drop points (whether it's a draw or loss, doesn't really matter). If they're ahead by 2 points and we drop points against Villa, then it's out of our hands unless we win our game in hand against Pompey. I believe we'll beat Villa, the players were clearly still rattled against Fulham but after this break, they'll know what is required.

I like the look of that team. That team gives us the opportunity of changing from a 4-3-3 to a 4-4-2 if needed, with Ronaldo joining Tevez up front, an Park and Giggs on the wings. Fletcher and Carrick have put in some solid performances next to each other this season, and I hope they'll be partnered together in the midfield come next Sunday.

I could be wrong but dont liverpool play on the saturday against fulham so if they win that game they would be 2 points ahead and we would have two games in hand.

so the villa game is a must at the very least for our confidence

vds

my gran* ferdinand vidic evra

fletcher giggs anderson

ronaldo rooney tevez

We'll see rooney and berbatov in a 442 but this team playing well would destroy villa.

*(no legs, dead)

Rooney and ronaldo can combine, rooney and tevez can combine, anderson and tevez can combine. anderson and fletcher have the workrate and energy to protect the back four. giggs can controll it in the middle or scholes can sit in ther also. evra can bomb on, o'shea can....well anyway you see there is a great balance to the team.

Heskey out of England squad with a hamstring injury.

Guessing thats him out then.:)

VDS

O Shea - Rio - Evans - Evra

Anderson - Fletcher - Carrick

Nani - Tevez - Ronaldo

think we should go with a 3 in midfield and up front that can change to a 5 in midfield easily

i think we'll win a tight game 1-0 with friedel having a great game

United will struggle to a 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1 win. Probably won't be a victory worth headlines of "United Throw Down the Gauntlet" or "United Annihliate Villa" but will surely get the side back on the winning track which will be necessary as Liverpool will undoubtedly defeat Fulham, with the latter probably conceding a penalty and/or having a man sent off.

this is a must win game
Every game after this is a must win game.

Manchester United Don't Have To Dazzle in Route to Third Straight EPL Title

Manchester United have just nine games left in the final run-in of the Barclays Premier League. While they have lost their last two, they still hold a one point lead and game-in-hand advantage over closest chasers Liverpool.
A 1-4 drubbing from the Liverpool, followed by a shocking 2-0 loss to Fulham at Craven Cottage just under a fortnight ago has the critic's pen active.
While you certainly can't judge United's chances of winning their third straight Premier League title based on their last two performances, United will need to get all three points against Aston Villa on Sunday to avoid even more criticism.
Typically, one loss hasn't meant much to Manchester United or their boss, Sir Alex Ferguson. United almost always responds to losses with convincing wins.
When they didn't do that at Craven Cottage on March 21, it opened up chances for both Liverpool and Chelsea to stay close.
Certainly United must get a convincing victory against the ailing Villans at Old Trafford come Sunday, but they don't need to repeat last year's 4-0 drubbing of Martin O'Neill's side in the corresponding fixture.
I think 1-0 or 2-0 will be the popular scoreline. United are one of few teams in the league that can win 1-0 and claim a complete victory over whomever they play.
United's last nine games include home fixtures to Villa, Arsenal, Portsmouth, Tottenham, and Manchester City. They face Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Wigan, and Hull City away from Old Trafford.
The game against Portsmouth at Old Trafford will be played on the 22 of April, and that will be their game-in-hand.
United must find a way to grind out two results, first on Sunday against Villa, then the next weekend at the Stadium of Light against Sunderland before they get that game in hand.
If United take those six points, they will be in good enough form that I think they will have a great chance of beating Portsmouth and climbing back to a lead of at least four points.
While the eight and nine games of the season should provide great theatre, I think United have the capability of grinding out results and winning their 18th league title.
Liverpool fans are loving their team's chances to get their first title in nearly twenty years, but if recent (or not so recent) history proves true, Liverpool fans will be disappointed once again.
For United, their last nine league fixtures must be dealt with diamond cutting precision. Forget style and flair, United fans will want three points every weekend, and they'll take utility over vanity so long as the season ends with their 18th title.

Tevez back on Friday...fying back from Bogota....no Rooney or Berbs....

yup...I'm bloody confident about this one.... :(

But we do have Ronaldo.

If all else fails get Ronnie up front with Giggs, Nani and Park to support.

Still a fecking quality quartet.

Agbonlahor also injured.

Agbonlahor fit and in the England squad for tomorrow's game ! Really tough game this (with Roo, Vidic, Scholes out) and assuming Berbatov is also out and Tevez knackered from only arriving back on Friday. I'll be very very happy with 1-0 to tell the truth.

he really should play in this one...if not you know he is on the way out...like Stam....

What could Nani have done to warrant that?

I would too. A win is a win is a win.

Tevez has to come through for us. A good performance could seal him a contract. Not to mention legend status if we go on to win the title.
