Anderson to score?
It wouldn't be a United game without someone saying it.

This team seems to suggest that Ronaldo will play on the left, (robbing us of the chance to see him attack Gibbs) if we adopt a 4-4-2, with Fletch on the right, unless Anderson starts there, which seems unlikely. Otherwise it might be Rooney from the Left and Ronnie from the right, but as Tevez has been picked makes it seem unlikely that we wouldn't leave Tevez upfront alone. Im confused.
-------------------- Van Der Sar -------------------
O'Shea -------- Ferdinand --- Vidic --------- Evra
------------ Fletcher -- Anderson -- Giggs --------
---- Ronaldo -------- Berbatov ----------- Rooney
I'm torn between Anderson and Carrick for the middle of the midfield but I'll go Anderson for his presence and giant arse.
Bench: Foster, Brown, Evans, Scholes, Carrick, Tevez, Park.
I can't believe he is persisting with Fletcher. FFS

You'd think Berbatov would be more suited to the central role of 3 forwards than Tevez, due to his ability to hold up the ball (far) better and win headers, but Fergie must prefer energy and pressuring their defence than that tonight. It's got 4-3-3 chizzled all over it.

cant believe he would start fecking O'Shea in a game like this

We've gone for a very hardworking team.
Obviously going to close them down and put them under a lot of pressure on the ball.
I can't help but feel this is the wrong decision.
Although it minimises their threat (they generally play through the middle)
It doesn't exploit their weaknesses.
Arsenal are vulnerable down the flanks and in the air.
A team with a lot of width (like in the fa cup game last season) would have bypassed their midfield and you could have seen us demolish them.
Conservative option by Fergie.
I would have played Ronaldo and Nani on the wings with Berba and Rooney in the middle.
Cannot believe Giggs isn't starting.
Yeah o'shea Has no experience at all In big games and europe let's throw in Rafael and see How He does not a gamble at all.Same every game, the team Has been picked have some faith ffs.cant believe he would start fecking O'Shea in a game like this
Translation: I know feck all about football and am questioning one of the greatest if not the greatest manager ever seen.

Not sure about Carrick for this game. I would have preferred Fletcher, Giggs and Anderson.

great line-up, I would have field exact same team
I feel the same.
Hate playing 1st leg at home, we always do this. Atleast when you play at home second leg you not what you have to do.
Still, I reckon Tevez, Rooney, Ronaldo, Anderson and Carrick have enough to hound Arsenal all night. If we get 1 I'd hate to see us sit back on it.
Fergie said "1-0 is a very good result for us"...I reckon with Arsenals defence we should be aiming much higher.
