I'd rather he played Keane and Defoe up top. Crouch could cause problems if Rio isn't fit.

The team would give us plenty to attack, but we tend to play too defensively away from home.

I think we'll play 4-4-2, as we normally do: Spurs won't be looking to draw this match - they'll seek to win.

His ratings are pretty much spot on.

Except Foster is clearly superior to Gomes.

I rate Palacios a bit more than Fletcher. I think Palacios does have more of a long shot in him. Both have good work rate, are good at closing down, and are good at what they do and to be fair, Palacios might have a bit more flair and tricks in him as he did play on the wings occasionally for Wigan. Best Spurs signing for ages imo.
 
Evra has nightmares against Lennon every time they play. I would have Park on the left helping him out.

I'd like to see Anderson get the start over Carrick in this one, although I would be fine with him at least getting something like 30 minutes or something if either the game is in or out of hand.

Like I said prior to the last match... kick the kid out there and he could be the extra charge that inspires the rest of the squad. Ya' know he's going to play like his career depends upon it. - If he doesn't get on that feckin' pitch soon, I'm concerned that he will lose all interest, whatsoever.

I completely agree, I have no doubt in my mind that he has the most talent of any CM at United bar Scholes. He has been inconsistent due to lack of a string of games and also because he is young. At his best for you United he has been excellent, other than the shooting, I hope he makes it here. At the moment the team is crying out for a player like him, I also think he would have done well in midfield three v Arsenal, better than Carrick or Giggs did.
 
I want 2 things to happen.

Nani starting, and 2 strikers up front. None of this 3 man midfield shite.

"Jermaine Jenas and Heurelho Gomes are back in the squad to face Manchester United at the Lane on Saturday.

It's the first time JJ has been available this season after sustaining a calf injury before our pre-season friendly against Olympiacos on August 9.

Gomes suffered a groin injury at Hull City on August 19 but has been training this week alongside JJ and Gareth Bale, who Harry Redknapp reported wasn't quite ready to return to action.

Ledley King remains a doubt after picking up a groin injury in the first half against Birmingham City last time out on August 29. "We're not sure about Ledley," said Harry. "It's a case of wait and see with him."

Good news sees Sebastien Bassong fit to play after suffering a slight knee injury on international duty last weekend. "He's fine," added Harry. "He did have a knock but he's okay, he's had treatment, trained and he's fit."

Longer-term injuries Luka Modric (fractured fibula), Michael Dawson (Achilles) and Jonathan Woodgate (groin) remain sidelined, although both ‘Daws' and ‘Woody'are progressing well.

So Jenas is back in the match-day squad, but whether he's considered match-fit enough to start is another question. If he is considered to be fully match-fit, then my guess is that he'll replace Huddlestone in CM because his pace and mobility will better enable our CM to cope with the defensive exposure/risks that our attacking game brings with it, especially against a likewise attacking team like Utd and if we play with Keane in a nominal LM role behind Defoe and Crouch up front.
 
I reckon they have a better right side, but that's about it. Definitely think Corluka's better than O'Shea, and Lennon better than Valencia.

Right through the middle we're better though, which is obviously quite handy.

Haven't I already said I disagree with some of your players rating, but am content to leave you with your comforting thoughts?

Besides, individual player ratings compared position by position - as in 'better than' or 'worse than' - don't mean much because (a) they take no account of how much better or worse in each case; (b) it's often not clear which players should be compared with which (depending on formations and playing styles etc) and also you can end up comparing apples with oranges (e.g. if Keane plays in Modric's role tomorrow, can he meaningfully be compared with Nani?); (c) they take no account of partnership combinations in which the whole can be more (or less) than the sum of the parts; and (d) they take no account of the team - how well it all fits together - in which the whole can be more (or less) than the sum of the parts.

Why don't we just leave the ratings to do their own talking on the pitch tomorrow?

a) No they don't, but your possibly stronger right hand side doesn't outweigh our possible superiority on the rest of the pitch
b) This is irrelevant, I changed the subjects of the ratings from individual players to positions
c) They do to some extent, see b and d
d) True, but the claim you disagreed to was that you have inferior players all over the pitch, not one about the unity or balance

Why don't we just leave the ratings to do their own talking on the pitch tomorrow?

Spurs are a very good side at the moment.

Don't write them off, especially as they are playing at home.
