Owen on his own struggles to be lethal against Wolves' defence let alone Terry and Carvalho. Pace is often key in the big matches and Rooney is our fastest forward and has caused Terry loads of trouble before.
Probably more of a counter attack strategy.
How telling is it that Nani is not featuring in this match but Obertan is? Is this bye bye Nani?
The line up as a whole was on predicted lines. But i really didn't expect Vidic not to start. Fergie did say Vidic would be fit for the game.

Fortunately, most of the other times thats happened, we've gone on to win, so hopefully that trend holds.

We intentionally opened up for CSKA, it is not going to be like that. The back four will have plenty of protection to hold sturdy.
This is not what Owen is about though. I don’t think it matters who he is up against and if he has a partner or not. He is anonymous in most games he plays. We just need someone to get in a good position and hopefully take a chance if one comes along. I would like to have seen him start today with Rooney out wide.

I doubt we play with a midfield trio TBH. I expect us to play Giggs and Valencia in attacking midfield roles, with Giggs switching inside quite a bit. Rooney is going to be isolated much of the game but we have the players to cause problems coming forward IMO.
I think its a pretty good line up to use against Chelsea away, especially when you consider the form of the two teams. We are the underdog today, so lets flood the midfield and frustrate the hell out of them.
Form means nothing in these games; I like the end of your post though and that's the attitude we should be having.
