Bit like the Evans-Pique situation.
No, both Evans and Pique are top notch players.
Bit like the Evans-Pique situation.
Let's just say that he will never cut the mustard as a first team regular at Old Trafford, and neither will most of the young players that played tonight. In two years most of them will be gone.
What about that through ball Welbeck played to set Obertan free? Totall class there, not sure if he's ready but he looks readier than the rest bar possibly Macheda off the bench.
Macheda's done things cleverly and unobviously?
Nah, if anything that's Welbeck. He's brought players into play very subtly and intelligently a few times, Macheda's been more dangerous but he's done very little that's brilliant or subtle that I remember.

It was Anderson.
Welbeck has had an awful second half.
I have to agree with Mockney i dont know what game some of you were watching but i thought Welbeck was dreadful tonight and has been quite a few times ive seen him now...his basic control of a ball is very average and his shooting his either brilliant or pathetic and more often than not the latter....if tonight proved anything its that Welbeck should be nowhere near the first team.
Like Welbeck and Macheda might be.
No he was not, he was superb in the first half, faded out a little bit in the second half.
Wasn't great but Mockney what on earth are you thinking? Normally a good poster.
Was that the one where he was completely unmarked and free on the right no more than 8 feet from Danny?
They will never be top notch players, I think that is quite clear, a bat could see it.
You are good with your one to six word sentence replies by the way.
Tonight showed he's far from ready to play week-in-week-out, in fairness. He did some nice things, but he was also very naive in his use of the ball, and his positioning. He'll keep getting better though, of that I'm sure.

Think you be left eating your words in years to come....
People seem to forget THEIR BOTH 18!!!
I guess you would've said the same about Fletcher a few years ago when he started on the right wing. Give them some time, not every young players is ready from the very start like Rooney, Fabregas or Messi...
Top quality players at that age can play in the first team, as both Rooney and Ronaldo did. The reason they hardly ever play is because they are not in the same class, and like it or not, Manchester United will always acquire players in that class, so they'll never actually break through.
Wouldn't agree with that at all however... i did think he played poor today!!
Side note: Felt sorry for Macheda... i think he could probably have got a couple if he had good service!!

The little interchange with Danny and subsequent through ball which put him in a great position to cross, and the little Ronaldo cut back and left foot shot in the first half, and cross to Obertan in the 2nd were all far more effective at 'creating' something than anything Welback did.
You're right though, I was exaggerating how bad he was 1st half, but only because this thread was incredibly OTT in the first place!
So I take it you have posts on here about Evans and Pique when they were 18 years old, saying they'll be top class players in a few years?
See previous post.
I always said Fletcher could get to Nicky Butt levels, which is fine.
Picking two of the best young players in the recent past, and ones who matured relatively early is slightly disingenuous. David Beckham was older than Wellbeck when he started getting games for us. Ditto Scholes. Players develop at different ages, and rates.

On current form Fletcher is at minimum a level above Nicky Butt. And I rate Nicky Butt as very useful squad player.
Everytime ive seen Welbeck play in the first team hes looked out of his depth...against Sunderland earlier in the season he was woeful allbeit on the left flank...all tonight showed me was that Welbeck is nowhere near ready to challenge for a regular first team spot...Macheda looks much more at home when making the step up than Welbeck.
Obertan looks a great young propsect though...one of the few shining lights tonight.
Ronaldo cut back wasn't unobvious or special, nor was the pass to Welbeck, though. He was more dangerous, but it seems like you're trying to talk up Macheda's contributions to be more than they actually were. Not for the first time I'd add.
I was really surprised at the timing of this thread though, yeah.
So you were wrong?
Seems like you're wrong again about these two as well, no idea whether you're naturally pessimistic or you've not really got a clue but there's clearly something missing there.
I normally don't rant and rave and get carried away about players, and you will not see a similar post about Rooney or Ronaldo, so the point is moot. I will however point out when it's clear that a player will not make the cut, and both Wellbeck and Macheda will not, they'll end up at West Ham or Fulham.
I think that you seriously underestimate the contribution that Nicky Butt provided.
