Wolverhampton Wanderers vs. Manchester United

Okay, half time analysis.

Gibson's positional sense is... odd.

Berbatov on his own turns him into a moaning machine.

Nani is proving again that he should only play on the right by doing his best to beat a man, and then show it to him to try and beat him again.

Vidic is a beast, Rio has decided that hoofing it is the best bet.

Valencia is doing what Valencia does but without anyone really breaking a sweat to get on the end of things.

Scholes can pass it so hard that it knocks people over.

Carrick should be playing further back with Scholes further forward.

Fair play to Wolves they've done well this half, but i hope that Diouf and Obertan come on at some point in the second half for Nani and Gibson as we're not creating much of note.

That was one of the worst halves of football we have played this season, surely it cant just be because Rooney is not on the pitch, but we don`t look like scoring !

To be honest, we have played some dire football earlier in the season too. The last couple of months have been a huge improvement, but overall this season has been far from convincing.

I'm not for a moment suggesting he's playing as well as Valencia, who is probably our second best performer this season, but the 'he has no footballing brain' criticism isn't accurate for my money. I've given Nani plenty of stick over his time when deserved, and he's having a howler, but let's keep criticism realistic.

Alright...he plays better on the right, I'll give him that. (Against Arse and Hull he was mainly on the right when he played well)

THere's no excuse for the shit he's churned out today though...it's thoughtless stuff. Hit and hope for the best. He doesn't try picking a man out with his crosses, he hits it, and hopes it gets to one of our players in the box....Valencia is somewhat the opposite, as he seemigly finds his man a lot more often.

Well, it's just the perfect storm. A game after internationals but before a big CL tie. No Rooney due to his own stupidity. Nani on the left wing. Gibson letting himself down.

Just can't see where a goal is going to come from with the players we have out there playing at such a mediocre level.

Fletcher on for Gibson.
Swap Carrick and Scholes around with Carrich holding.
If we are still tied at 70 mins, Diouf, for Scholes, and Obertan for Nani.

I wouldn't be suprised if Fergie subs Nani at HT, keeps Gibson on, and waits until 70minutes to realise what is wrong.

If only he knew as much as you :(

Good post. I certainly hope so

If you bring Diouf on, you gotta take one of Nani/Valencia off otherwise Carrick/Scholes will get overrun.

I think the first change thats needed is to bring on Fletcher to replace Gibson. If things still aren't improving, then we bring on either Park or Diouf for one of our wingers and then play 4-4-2.

I think it was just bad that we never really looked like scoring

no creativity at all. Never been a fan of Berbatov alone up front. He drops too deep, holds on to the ball forever and there is no one in the box to target.

I would bring Fletch for Gibson, which would hopefully allow Carrick and Scholes to push forward, and create something. Although if Berbatov is going to drop back to the center fecking circle, then its difficult to create anything.

Maybe bring on Diouf so that we have someone in the box.

I know right. Gibson, Nani, Berba, the usual suspects.

At least Berbatov's performance can be put down to laziness, and Nani's to fact he isn't Ronaldo. Gibson's just plain shit.

We have no one in the box though, Nani can't pick out a player that don't exist.

Carrick has carried on like he played for England; awful. Need Scholes further forward. The team looks like it's thinking about Wednesday rather than this game.

Nani and Valencia should swap sides now and then...mix it up a little.

Why does Gibson keep being given more chances to prove how crap he is? He's never looked good enough

We're playing with one midfielder.

Gibson again gash....take him the feck off plz hes an utter embaressment out there, Diouf on 4-4-2 plz.....

Berbatovs done well with the very minmal service hes had as well as non existent midfield 'support'.....

Nanis gone back to being Nani..........

Berbatov's been excellent as midfield support, 4-6-0 is a bit of a shit formation though.

Get Park on for Gibson to play behind Berbatov.

But I want to see what the same team does post hairdryer.

We've had tonnes of lousy first half performances which instantly improve after the break, without the need for half time changes.

What chances have come his way?

We dont really have a Lampard to fill in for him while he's dropping deep creating or going out wide to put a cross in. Its quite decent stuff from him but what we need from our CF is a player to be in the box and put the ball in the back of the net. We need Rooney. And Berbatov is not the same kind of player. Its just a wrong mix. But hopefully someone will pop up in the box and take the scoring burden off him. It just isnt our strength with the players we have playing.

The Americans sure love their adverts for products that give you AMAZINGGGG skin

We have no one in the box though, Nani can't pick out a player that don't exist.

Then he shouldn't be hitting them in there then!

As I said....thoughtless.

(He'll go pull off an amazing cross now ), but my point remains.
