Manchester United vs. Liverpool

Why is everyone putting Park in their middle 3? He played there to mark the deep-lying playmaker Pirlo.

Liverpool don't have anyone like that so Park either plays on the wing or on the bench IMO.

Before anyone says Gerrard, that'd mean Park as our holding midfielder :wenger:

Park central does seem like the new "Rooney on the left".

Indeed. Square pegs in round holes spring to mind.

Lucas and Ratboy couldn't create anything if they're lives depended on it, so there's no need to man-mark Liverpool's deeper midfield players.

People even suggested dropping Carrick to accomadate a winger in CM

The job he did on Pirlo was impressive, but it was his attacking from that position that impressed me the most. His off the ball movement was fantatsic and created space. He also looked like a constant goal threat too.

Yup thats how i see it, think Park would be marked out of the game and be made a rather redundant figure in the match should he play there, dont think he will, it will either be Scholes or Giggs in a midfield 3 alongside Fletch and Carrick i think, Park might play wide though.

And? It was a one-off for that tie. And in case you forgot, we played the same tactic in Milan and looked disjointed and like I said, square pegs in round holes.

Park is no substitute for Scholes, Berbatov is the next best option in my opinion.

Got a ticket for next weeks game. Will arrive from Toronto only on Sunday morning, where can I get a drink before the game knowing that it is a 130pm kick-off?

I reckon he'll make one change from today's team, Scholes in for Berbatov, with a possible second change of Park in for Nani

Well I might as well share my prediction for the line up

----------VDS----------
?????----Rio---Vida----Evra
Valencia--Carrick--Fletcher--Park
---------Rooney----Berba

Rio-Vida are back and that's great, though Vidic has a thing with Torres
Carrick-Fletcher are a must
Park and Berbatov are in form
Rooney is out of this world, when it comes to scoring goals
Valencia is just fecking fast
Right back is a question mark for me

We are playing them at home. You know, we should put another nail in the coffin.

Things that are very likely to happen: Torres suffering a hamstring injury mid-week and probably missing the game. Vidic to get sent off once again... and us beating the shit out of this wankers. It's about fecking time we care to show up against them, the three losses in a row really hurt!

Van der Sar
Neville (c) - Ferdinand - Vidic - Evra
Carrick
Scholes - Fletcher
Valencia - Rooney - Nani

If Scholes doesn't make it play Park in the centre instead.

Very unfair. They have to travel some 20 miles to get to OT. Dont you think they'd suffer from travel lag, maybe? The PL can be very nasty at times.

Yeah and Rooney on the left seemed to work well against quite a few teams too. He was brilliant against Sunderland in one game I remember.

Need Park on the left to expose Glen Johnson, not being bullied by Mascherano and Lucas. He'd only create enough space for Fletcher to have to deal with the other one and leave Carrick exposed against Gerrard on the counter attack.

I'd even put Valencia in the centre if needed, just because he'd be able to bully back a bit. Nani would probably go too far and do to Mascherano what he did to Lucas Neil.

-----------------VDS------------------
Rafael-------Rio-------Vidic---------Evra
------------Scholes--Fletcher----------
------------------Park-----------------
Valencia---------Rooney-----------Nani

Subs : PIG, Neville, Fabio, Berbatov, Giggs, Carrick, Diouf.

Yes please!

Berbatov to defo come on

I think we might line up like this:

-----------------------------VDS-------------------------------
---Rafael--------Rio-------------------Vidic----------Evra-------
------------------------Fletcher--------------------------------
------------Carrick------------------Scholes--------------------
---Valencia---------------------------------------Park----------
-----------------------Rooney----------------------------------

The last couple of matches against Liverpool, I think they've beaten us just through sheer will to win and workrate. Park could provide us that extra spark needed in the midfield battle.

Very true. They wanted it more and it showed. I bet Benitez will get them fired up for it again, as it's all they've got left to play for.

As usual I'm nervous as fcuk... you just know those game raising cnuts are gonna play out of their skins.

just realized that they play tonight and on thrusday night before the game midday on sunday

hope we can manage a win :nervous:

This - although I'd change Nani for Park, and, if Scholes doesn't make it, move Park in the centre and play Nani on the left.

It's a shame that, albeit having a great game on Sunday, Berba will - most likely - warm the bench again.

Tell me about it, the nerves are building already.

Of course we know we're more than capable of beating them. We've been in great form recently while they've been shite, but we all know form goes right out the window, especially when it's like a team's cup final.

Has to be a 3 man midfield against Lucas/Mashcerano...

VDS

Neville
Rio
Vidic
Evra

Fletcher
Scholes
Carrick

Nani/Valencia
Rooney
Park/Nani

Giggs will be available, won't he?

Why is everyone leaving him out of their line-ups?

Because of the nature of his injury he'll had a nice wee break (no pun intended) while still able to keep up a very good level of fitness. If available, I would have thought he'd be a shoe-in to start. SAF loves to play him in these big games. Remember Chelsea at OT last season?

Giggs playing centrally is okay. On the left, against Johnson, I'd rather have someone with a bit more pace to keep him pegged in his own half

I don't think Liverpool is a game to bring back a player who's missed 5-6 weeks of competitive football. Even if he's trained the house down during that period.

He'll start on the bench I'd imagine.
