Manchester City v Manchester United

10 seconds in this thread and I've remembered why the match threads are the shitest threads on the Cafe.

I'm off back to the general already, it's far more sensible in there.

 What a woman.

Going for age again.

Only Neville and Scholes are questionable.

Giggs has been awesome everytime he's played City this year.

Set up 3 in the 4-3
Scored and played well in the CC loss
Played part in 2 goals, including crossing for Rooney in last minute, in the 3-1

Knew Hargreaves wouldn't make the squad. Gibson starting? Bah. No doubt this will come back to haunt me in a noodlesque manner (hopefully) but that team doesn't look super strong to me

Good for Obertan. Deserves a promotion based on his reserves performances.

Surprised not to see Nani make it - will be interesting to see how Gibson copes today.

Giggs has had two blinders v City this season already, so, I reckon, he'll be an important figure today.

Official United team:

Van der Sar
Neville Vidic Evans Evra
Fletcher Scholes Gibson
Valencia Rooney Giggs

Subs:Kuszczak, Rafael, O'Shea, Carrick, Nani, Obertan, Berbatov.

Interestingly no Park or Hargreaves. O'Shea might get a runout in midfeild.

don't like scholes, giggs, neville all starting :(

it shows our lightweight our midfield is when gibbo is now starting matches for us.

Did his groin against Blackburn, just think it's something we will have to get used to, regular little niggles as he gets older, probably in some way linked to the back

Oh, right, I forgot about that. feck.

Anyways, I'm confident that Evans will step up, but I'm more concerned about the fact that all of Neville, Scholes, and Giggs are starting.

Hopefully he can continue that run, beacause he esd looked a bit shit against Blackburn

I'd be slightly concerned that the pace of the game might be a bit much for Gibson today. He always strikes me as someone who needs time on the ball, and City don't tend to let teams settle in there.

Going to be a difficult tie this, would have liked to see Nani perhaps for Scholes with Giggs in the middle but apart from that the team looks strong. Carrick is way out of form and Rafael has a tenancy to jump in so I think Neville in there is a decent idea plus we can always change it round.

I'm strangely relaxed

I was all week and was actually looking forward to it, but now I have a horrible hangover and I don't think I can stomach watching this game. It's going to be an un-enjoyable 2 hours for me.

Quite relaxed about this now.

Giggs Scholes and NEville starting is extremely scary but well what the hell.

Rooney playing. Ferdinand out, Evans in.

Gibson, Valencia, Scholes, Giggs playing.

Five-man midfield.

Surprised Giggs starts, was subbed due to a hamstring strain against Blackburn, it feels crazy for me to say it but why is Giggs starting over Nani.

Not surprised Scholes plays, he is still are best play maker in midfield and Carrick has been woefully poor as of late.

Neville over Rafael also surprises me, was rubbish against Blackburn and tore a new one by a slow Malouda when we played Chelsea. I think that Johnson and Bellamy will run him ragged today.

And why the hell is Nani not starting? He's the only danger we ever have besides Rooney.

Aye. And it's not as if we don't have enough older players in there already. Gibson has always been far too static for me, and he can disappear unless we have the ball in and around the opposition box. We're lacking legs and energy in that team, Fletchers performance today could be critical. He is certainly going to have his work cut out for him today in that midfield

Bellamy will rape Neville

the bulgarian on the bench, as expected.

Can we ever play City without them showing Laws backheel?

It's like everytime we play Newcastle they show the 5-0, ignoring we'd trashed them constantly over and over ever since.
