Gareth Bale is...The most expensive player ever?!

If I'm note mistaken we had a 8m bid and we weren't going to go higher than that, Spurs came and offerred 12m so our bid was never accepted in the first place.

Thats if I remember correctly.
The Spurs bid for Bale that was originally accepted was for 10m: an initial 5m plus a possible 5m of future add-ons.

But then S'hampton ran into further financial trouble and so later accepted less than an extra 5m of possible add-ons in favour of receiving some unspecified sum immediately, all tied with a deal that took a young Spurs GK called Tommy Forecast to S'hampton for (according to the Mirror) 200k.

So I'm guessing Spurs ended up paying around 9m - i.e. 1m less than the original 5 + 5.

Gareth Bale is...

a season or so from becoming a Manchester united player. Spuds have been good for him, but the next logical step beckons. Spurs are always going to be a 2nd tier team, and he's showing the qualities of being a top tier player.

Can anyone upload a vid of teh hat trick? Tah.

Jesus, Pob was always a special talent but he really is becoming quite a player. Everyone is going to want him now after that.

We really should sign this lad.

I don't give a shit if it costs 30million. Get Bale at Old Trafford.

Hurts to say it but we have got no chance in signing him unless he wants to go to United above all overs when the offers roll in, which they will before too long. If he was in Spain or Italy playing like that then he'd be a big signing, a FM one and we're just not going to get players like that right now. Real Madrid, Barce, City, all have first dibs over us, if they can fit him in. Chelsea probably too. :(

Spurs have a couple of handy players on their hands who we'd make better us of right now IMO. Shame its dreamland.

Like we can get him just like that.

Exactly. Spurs got 30 million out of us for Berbatov. I'm sure Bale would cost closer 40-50 million especially since he seems to be getting better and better. Its a shame we missed out on him initially because he would instantly solve our left midfield problems.

Rooney plus Cash for Bale. It's on. Giggs needs to have a little talk with Bale

Just watched the goals. Pure class. 1st and 2nd goal, you can't tell apart ;)

What a hat-trick! Spurs is my new favourite non-Manchester United team in Champions League ;)

How old is he again? Selling Ronnie for 80million and buying Bale for 40-45million would be pretty decent business... at this point. Perhaps we shouldn't wait for Summer?

If Spurs don't get into the top 4 I think he'll leave. Unfortunately it won't be to join us though.

Having said that though, if we've only got enough cash for 1 big player in the Summer, it really will need to be a central midfield player.
