Mourinho - the honeymoon's over!

This is a bizarre argument. Utterly pointless.

It's Pogue taking yet another thread off topic.

For some reason I'm being criticised for watching a game of football and posting my thoughts. Perhaps I'd be better off not watching any European football and commentating on it anyway. Pogue knows best.

No I know you're not at fault. It's just amusing how strange it was. Wouldn't let it bother you if I was you.

Catch many Real Madrid games last season, did you?

I don't think you've missed one in 10/11.

Yes I did...I have for a few years now. Plus who wouldn't want to catch a Madrid game loaded with star power? Hell I will even catch a baseball game thats loaded with that much star power.

I think people are trying a little to hard to find something that isn't there to rationalize there on disdain.

Weird thread direction.

In any case. I saw the score and it seems they scored 6. Does this mean Mourinho and Madrid are having sex again?

Let's assume Mourinho's team playing football regardless of facts:

10/11: Real Madrid (top scorers so far)
09/10: Inter (top scorers)
08/09: Inter (top scorers)
06/07: Chelsea (2nd top scorers)
05/06: Chelsea (top scorers)
04/05: Chelsea (2nd top scorers)
03/04: Porto (top scorers)
02/03: Porto (2nd top scorers)

Funny how no one ever blamed Arsenal for being boring despite Mourinho's Chelsea outscoring them every season.

So they're back at the top of the table and look very solid. Thing with Mourinho teams is he usually sets them up so that they'll be hard to beat, his Chelsea and Inter sides almost never lost and conceded very few, so when they could get things going in the attack they'd batter the opposition - and when they couldn't, they'd go into a stalemate and wait for things to unfold, then either score or take a points.

That's because Arsenal sides were always easy to beat - and people don't think of sides like that in that way. It's worse when there's a side like Chelsea who were almost impossible to beat - once they scored you could be nearly certain that they won't drop any points. It's silly because you'd usually want your side to play that way.

They're third behind Valencia and Villarreal.

apparently he said he's going to make a youth player a star and he brought on a lad called Juan Carlos from the youth team today instead of Benzema.

I'm sure jojo would be able to tell us more, aslo Barca seemed to bring on a lad called Noilito or something. Could be another lad off the conveyer belt of talents that are born in Lamasia

Mourinho on his critics after the game
"If you have doubts about a coach who has won what I have then you have to explain what qualities a coach should have to have the right to work in your country.

"You have to tell me if I have to have won three Champions Leagues and seven domestic league titles. I have two Champions Leagues and six domestic league titles. Is that enough to have the right to work here? If so, great. I'll continue with my work."

Well he's spot on, though I don't think people have actually doubted him, more just been a bit disappointed by the quality of football on display so far. He's already said he realises he'll have to play with style, but that will take time. He needs to sort out the defence first. Carvalho and Pepe look like they can make a very good partnership.

feck, I forgot that teams other than them and Barcelona existed.

First game back for Barcelona after the break is Valencia at the Camp Nou. Huge game really, Valencia would be happy with a point I'd imagine but if Madrid were to win that weekend then they'd move top (If Villarreal don't win) and go 3 points clear of Barca.

It's been a good season so far, I'm glad the myth that 'nobody can take points of Barca and Real' is finally being laid to rest. Last season was an anomaly.

I would have thought that after watching Barca dominate for two years, Real fans would just want results rather than style for once.

I actually think there's a few people on here who have started watching every Madrid game this season, purely because Mourinho is in charge.

How very odd.

I've just about come to term with player fanbois but this manager fanboi phenomenon is weird as feck. All the more so when said manager has never and might never manage Manchester United. Bizarre.

Get off your high horse Pogue, the lads like watching football - that's ok, isnt it?

Mourinho on his critics after the game

Nice insight into Mourinho's man management skills last night. He called Juan Carlos over from his seat on the bench, "Are you crapping yourself yet?" No, said Juan Carlos. So Mourinho told him that he'd better get warmed up then.

Nolito's not from La Masia I don't think and he's not young, young - 24 maybe? I've not seen him before but with that spec he's ether a really late developer or a sign that Barca are a bit thin up top right now. Dunno'

Thats 16 goals scored in their last 3 La Liga fixtures. Should also point out that there was only 2 conceded in those games.

There were similar threads on here and similar complaints (fighting with Italian media) from Italy and Inter fans when he was at Inter. They all thought he'd lost the plot and laughed at him being the so called special one.

And then there was his big final feck you to everyone in Italy and his critics outside. He won everything there was to win.

He'll come good. In that respect he's a bit like Fergie. He'll almost always have the last laugh.

*pumps fist*

It might not even take him that long.

Mourinho remains in form at his press conferences. Talking about Madrid's mid week cup match (and remembering Madrid's 4-0 defeat against Alcarcon last year that wrecked Pellegrini)
"If what happened against Alcarcon happens with me, I'll be crossing off the players - they'll be dead to me."

Boring, boring football eh. When did we last score 6 at home?

Haven't actually seen the last 2 Madrid games, how'd they play? Did the score-lines flatter?

Yes, the scorelines flattered their opponents.

The funny thing was last night Racing had gone out with a defensive masterplan to play 5 at the back - of course all it actually did was screw up their ability to handle through balls and run their offside trap.

Do any of you agree with Andy Gray's sentiments regarding Ronaldo basically goal hanging last night?

Do any of you agree with Andy Gray's sentiments regarding Ronaldo basically goal hanging last night?

Ronaldo sort of agrees - he says all 4 goals were handed to him by teammates.

Higuain played further forward though, so if Ronaldo was goalhanging I don't know what Higuain was doing. Mostly it was the fact that Madrid were playing about twice the speed of Racing - very fast on the attack and counterattack, and Ronaldo as the fastest and with the best positional sense was almost always first to the ball.
