MERGED: Rooney signs new contract!

Most people on here would argue Berbatov or Nani are the most frustrating players to watch, and they have their moments but for me its Rooney. He has had the first touch of a rapist for a good 3yrs now, even when he scored 30+ last season, most of them were poacher finishes which i believe Hernandez will/is be better than him at anyway. Rooney also for me goes missing in the crucial games far too much for a' Top 3 in world' player.

The problem is there are a few of us that pointed out that Rooney kinda stagnated since 3 years ago. He was brilliant, all pace, dribbling and all. Then he start to get fat, and retained his goalscoring due to brilliant services from Valencia now, and riding on the spaces created by Ronaldo back then. He's a very good player, and to be honest, i thought he would be more of a player today, when seeing him 3 years ago. It's no loss for the club. Our only concern now is whether we get the best value for him, and get to spend it on replacements.

You're an idiot.

He's odds on to move, that much is fact, as is evident by the odds at the bookies.

If you read the whole sentence you would have read the disclaimer: IF he gets his mind straight, then he is odds on to stay. You can only find that laughable if you didn't read the disclaimer and are fecking stupid. Hell, IF he gets his mind straight then there is virtually no chance he'll leave.

You're the worst poster on the forum, you've amassed a bizzilion posts in no time and they've all been shit. Kindly shut up and feck off.

When I came home to the confirmation of what has been circling around the press the last days my reaction was not what I would expect from myself really. First of all, I wasn't really surprised, I guess I was mentally getting accustomed to the thought for a few days already. Secondly I wasn't as sad or disappointed as a lot of others seem to be. We have seen already this season what a Unitedless Rooney looks like and it doesn't frighten me at all. Going forward we've been brilliant and I doubt Rooney's presence would have locked up the defense these first 8 games.

As for Rooney... Well, he can feck off. Simple as that. I won't miss him for a second. He's looking like a self-important greedy wanker and for me he's burnt all the bridges there is. I hope he doesn't even get to train with the first team again. We'll move on and I for one can't wait to see if any of the younger players manage to step it up a few notches this season. Hernandez and Macheda will get more opportunities and even Michael Owen might be more needed than anyone thought just a couple of days ago. I guess we're the fools for elevating Rooney the man to something he's never been, loyal trustworthy and dedicated. I hope his career fall to pieces.

There is not such a thing it doens't exist. Players will come and go all we ask is that we keep producing great players regardless of how they behave.

We haven't produced a great player in a long while. We have bought well over the last few years but whre do we go from here?

I think Rio's tweets meant that the players didn't know SAF was going to talk about it. I'm sure they knew about the situation.

Oh yeah thats probably it, he said he wasnt expecting it and how he was going to sleep but now he cant. I just assumed that meant he was in shock

Possibly....Complete joke of a player if that's the case....The big tough Wayne Rooney who flees the country when he does something stupid that brings himself flack

He and John Terry can be England's Big Man™ and Little Man™.

Is this really what football has come to?

Wayne Rooney cheating on his club because he's not man enough to face up to cheating on his wife?

Thank God life goes on as normal elsewhere, and we still can rely on old favourites, like Rafa Benitez, who today is babbling about John the milkman in the wirral and his white liquid.

What do you expect from a classless twat? This is what happens when you become to rich, to young.

This has been going on for over two months. He's been wanting out for that long, with the fans chanting his name every match. He still wants to go. His bridges are now burnt.

I'm not going to put any effort into getting him to stay, he can feck off. Hugely brilliant player, but if he doesn't want to be here then I don't want him here.

He hasn't burnt his bridges with Ferguson or the Club, because Ferguson still wants him to stay and the offer is still on the table. That's good enough for me.

And yes it's been going on for over two months, because both his off the field problems and on the field problems have been going on for a long time. If he gets his life sorted, and sorts himself out on the pitch, then I think he'll willingly sign a contract. But nah feck that, let's throw personal abuse at a guy who is mentally going through a tough time.

After all that's happened it's really hard to see him stay even IF he gets his mind straight. Fergie might have left the door open for him but it's extremely hard to see him stay after all that's happened today.

Chan Ching!!!!

Of course we will and hopefully Liverpool will do the honours and hand us over Torres!!

Well if you believe what the scousers were saying after the Everton game then Torres is to them what Rooney is to us; a player who is playing like he wants out....so make an offer. Does anyone think he wants to be in a relegation fight? Liverpool probably need to build more than we do and a sale may not be out of the question

Are you serious, he's been arguable to best striker in England for the past 2 years, he just needs a proper club!

He barely played last season due to injury, and this season he's been fecking shite.

Great player when he's fit, but there's no getting away from the fact that he's a crock.

With such awful decision making in his life away from football, I guess it was sort of inevitable he was going to do something stupid during his career. This is it.

We haven't produced a great player in a long while. We have bought well over the last few years but whre do we go from here?

The only option is to spend money. Value or no Value... whether we will do it is another question. The youth look good but not amazing i'm afraid and the players are out their we just have to be brave and bit the bullet. Push the boat for the next Pato (Neymar) sign a big name (Sneijder) and hope they jell. We can't sit back and watch biggest assests go.

Wtf are you on about. IF he gets his mind straight then this is the club for him, the club he wanted to spend the rest of his career with before his recent troubles. If he gets his mind straight there is no other logical choice for him. If he chooses to move then his mind is not right, of course it's not right, it'd be a really shit decision.

Fair enough but he's going to face a lot of abuse from his own fans and even though Fergie's left the door open for him he's been painted as the villain here.

It's hard to see him stay tbh. We've offered him whatever we possibly could and he yet does not want to stay. I understand he's going through a tough time but all this stuff bout his personal life came out after 14th August when he had already made up his mind to go.

He won't play for us again

Good, that is if he plays without the same passion as we are used to.
Depends if he can be professional or not to be honest, if he can't then I'd much rather give Macheda/Hernandez a shot.

He asked to leave BEFORE his recent troubles were announced.

He came to England arguably the best striker in the world, he clearly has not lived up to that tag.

Go check his record mate. Read the Torres transfer forums of the past too. He was far from the best striker in the world before arrive. Yes he's injury prone but still bangs 20 a season. Judging him now is like judging Rooney. form temperary etc etc....

Ok I'm assuming by recent troubles you meant his hooker issues?

Because he told Fergie that he's "adamant about leavin" back on the 14th of August so he had clearly made his mind up before all this shit in his life came up.

Duno about that. He was immense in all our biggest games last season, until he got injured anyway.

Arsenal away. Milan away. The derby CC games. Outstanding in all of them.

those were big games, but to be fair i would argue that they weren't our biggest.

Milan away, they were a piss poor side. Arsneal had a piss poor defense, as did city at that time.

Chelsea-home and away is bigger, he did nothing noteworthy that i can remember.

Liverpool.. has he ever scored against them ?

Munich games he was poor, granted second game he had injury.
