MERGED: Rooney signs new contract!

Mirror:

Still waiting for Rooney statement... apparently Wayne has broken three crayons writing it

Where the feck did you come from? Been busy for the past 48 hours GCHQ?

Good joke though

Time for some light relief.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s emotional outburst on Tuesday had United fans calling for Wayne Rooney’s head. But they should be thanking him. He has saved United from major embarrassment and financial disaster.

United have been lethargic in getting a new deal sorted out for Rooney. Given the financial situation at the club, why should he assume he was going to get the kind of deal he wanted?

You know what? Rooney could have done a Sol Campbell. He could have just said nothing and let the contract run out and then gone on a free transfer and earned a large fortune.

Instead he told Fergie he wouldn’t be signing a new deal on August 14, 2010. At that point Wayne had wo years left on his current deal.

That, to me, doesn’t sound like a player with no honour. It doesn’t tell me he has no loyalty. He is doing right by the club. Rooney’s honouring his contract, but giving the club the chance to make some money out of him.

He wants to move. He wants more money than United can give. He wants more medals than United are unlikely to be able to offer. And he wants to play with players at a similar level. It all points to a move to Manchester City. We shall see.

But by telling United in good time that he wasn’t going to sign another contract, he’s given them the chance to cash in. He deserves respect for that.

Durham job swaps from radio presenting to the Comedy Store.

Silly boy should get a PR consultant to write it for him.

Not that them feckers are any more intelligent than Rooney himself.

A comedian not a journo.

That's actually laughable and the biggest lorry-load of shite I've ever come across. Maybe Wayne should recruit the ginger bumfluff as his new PR officer, the guy makes Max Clifford look amatuer.

Good grief :wenger:

and there was me thinking it was to deflect the talk about his missing testicle

Are you sure thats true, have you actually seen the other one in the Albert Hall .

More than half the people reading this wont have a clue what we are talking about :D

Wait...so that means he wants to win fewer medals?

Double negative alert!

Where the hells that from?

That might have held some water if he hadnt ruined it and mentioned City at the end, i could understand Real Madrid or Barcelona but fecking hell if he thinks City have players any better than ours hes thicker than i thought.

It could be worse.

He could have been Goeballs.

:D

Who's that Adrian Durham gimp? How can anyone write an article like that and then being approved of submitting it up? :wenger:

He's ginger, thick as cement, and paid to unload drivel like that each and every day on Talkspite. The man's a moron.

To think there's someone amongst the record high unemployed in this country probably in that position at the expense of a clueless gobshite like Durham is a sick thought.

the press is full of shit

The same press that said this was coming two days before Fergie revealed the news.

Why is it people only ever listen to the press when they report the news they like, and then when they dont like it its all "shit"

Id love the conspiracy to be true, but sadly, I think we all know what he is going to come out and say.

That conspiracy is fatally flawed.

Why, in order to take the media heat off Rooney, would you increase the media heat on Rooney?

It's liketrying to put out a fire, with fire.

I know when I was a lad, you got in the Stretford end, by queing up on the day, got a disgusting pie with peas, and a bus home and still had change from 10 bob :)

and abuse the old twat with "the end is nigh" sign that used to parade up and down United road.

:D

The author of that article and i use that term loosely, is presenting on Talksport right now along with Jason Cundy.

Other gems include what appears to be the received wisdom, that it is a damning indictment that we should be outbid by City. Even if we had no debt whatsoever we'd still impose limits on transfers and a wage structure for pity sake.

It is also starting to bug me how some in the media are lumping the Ronaldo, Tevez and Rooney situations together as if they are identical.

Waynes ambition of nobbing second rate prozzies and 69 year old slappers? (although granted jenny thompson would get it) your right wayne thats not the ambition shared among those at Manchester United, however after Mancinis comments about how hed rather his players got laid than drunk maybe City is the place for you....
