Man Utd v Bursaspor 19:45

Rooney was injured in training on Tuesday
Manchester United will be without strike duo Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen for Wednesday's game against Bursaspor at Old Trafford.

Rooney, 24, was stretchered off during the end of Tuesday's training session at Carrington with an ankle injury.

Owen has a minor groin problem and will not be considered for another 10 days, while United are without winger Ryan Giggs who has a hamstring injury.

Central defender Jonny Evans (hip) is also not available for selection.

United have had some difficulty in the past with Turkish opposition at Old Trafford.

They lost to Besiktas last season in their first home European defeat for four years although they had already qualified for the knockout stages, and in 1996 Fenerbahce handed United their first home reverse in the competition.

However, Bursaspor have lost their last six European games without scoring and are yet to find the net in five European matches away from home.

However, coach Ertugrul Saglam will travel to Old Trafford in a positive mood. "United are going through a troubled time," he said. "There is no reason why we cannot return to Turkey with a surprise result."

While United boss Sir Alex Ferguson deals with the fall out from Tuesday's revelations that Rooney wants to leave the club, Saglam is involved in a delicate man-management issue of his own.

Winger Volkan Sen was left out of the squad against Karabukspor as punishment for travelling to the United States to visit his girlfriend without permission.

It was the second time the club's star man has gone AWOL this season, but he is expected to return to the squad against United.

"These problems occur from time to time with players," said Saglam. "I know what it is like to have player problems.

"But Manchester United have the depth of quality in their squad to know that whoever they put in to replace Rooney is likely to be of a very high standard.

"I certainly don't think it is going to be an advantage for us, or a disadvantage for them."

Defeats to Valencia and Rangers already in their Group C campaign have left Bursaspor knowing they must gain something at Old Trafford to maintain any realistic hope of reaching the knockout stages.

Bursaspor to feel the wrath of United, the fans and the manager tonite.

5 goal or more. Come on! Lets show the feckers who we are.

With the way things have been going against the club lately even I, the worlds most optimistic man, can't see us winning tonight.

Well, actually, we might just sneak it.

I can't wait to hear what Neville has to say about Rooney.

Er... No he won't. Did you read the article you quoted?

Winger Volkan Sen was left out of the squad against Karabukspor as punishment for travelling to the United States to visit his girlfriend without permission.

It was the second time the club's star man has gone AWOL this season, but he is expected to return to the squad against United.

Didn't even realise Evans and Owen were injured ._.

Just play a really strong side and put them to bed. The last thing we need is more question marks about our form, it's no time for tampering too much no matter who we're against.

We are going to light them up ... otherwise am going to feel like crying as it will hurt to the bone.

expecting a great atmosphere tonight, SAF will get a standing ovation and Rooney will be told to **** off. And we'll win.

Turkish Airline!

Is that advert new? What an awful time for it to be released!

I would like:

VDS
Rafael Vidic Rio Evra
Nani Carrick Scholes Park
Berbatov Hernandez

I can see the likes of Gibson, Smalling and Anderson being thrown into the mix too.

SAF will have the lads fired up tonight. Siege mentality. Let's fecking bomb into their box like a herd of vicious blood hungry Gazelle like creatures.

Or it could be a desolate mood among the fans, seeing as the club's prized asset might be about to move on. That's gonna be strange if it's that considering it's a European night game at OT.

I hope the crowd lap it up for Fergie.

Have to say, it's not the crowd I'm worried about it's the players.

They've had so many kicks in the bollocks this season they're mentally fragile as it is. After all this hoo ha conceding an early goal could turn this into a horror show.

I guarantee the lads will have a point to prove tonight, they wil have the mentality of "we are quality without rooney in the side". We will put on a show and score at least 3.

The doom and gloom has to stop, we are the best at responding to adversity and what better opposition to prove our steez.

Just when you think things are shit, remember we get to watch the beautiful manchester united, OUR team, no one player is bigger than the club and no matter who comes and goes, each week we will be able to sit back and watch United go into a game and try to play football the way it should be played and set standards.

Wayne rooney or no wayne rooney united will live strong and we will come out of this better than he will.

SAF's 2,000th game in charge today

Probably more of a 4-3-3

OFFICIAL TEAM: PIG, Rafael, Smalling, Vidic, Evra, Park, Fletcher, Ando, Carrick, Nani, Kiko

Decent team, should be enough to win. Anyone got the subs?
