Manchester United vs. Bursaspor

Is Scholes injured? He was rested at the weekend, I assumed he'd be starting today.

It's a good enough team to win, but Macheda up front alone is a strange one.

I'm liking the line-up tonight(minus Rio),, GET IT ON!! I hope all the players show tonight what kind of a club we are!

Interesting line-up. Potential for Ando to actually be behind Macheda, and Nani with a bit of a free role switching flanks with Park. A lot of similarities to our "442"s while Ronaldo was here.

No Scholes then, Scholesy?

Scholes is 36. Fergie will utilise him in the league games against <7th opposition. This midfield of Carrick, Fletcher and Anderson is Fergie's first choice in my opinion, because of their fitness and its balance - Carrick holding, Fletcher right, Anderson left. Park is always preferred in big games and Nani is our matchwinner - our only one tonight, which is worrying.

I wish Fergie would just be more positive with his player selection. Playing Obertan or Bebe rather than Park would likely give us more of a spark. The game could be slow paced and awful.

Hmmm... Good point. Not that we'll get an update from Fergie, mind you. Doubt he'll get to say a word about tonight's game in any interview.

See, this is what annoys me most about the actions of Rooney's camp. The talk is going to be about shrek till he leaves, a distraction, our team could do without.

I'm quite happy to see the Fletch-Carrick-Ando trio in the middle, as long as Anderson pushes further up the field. What I'm not happy about is combining that with a very out of form Park on the left and Macheda up front by himself. I rate Kiko highly, but he's not ready to be one of only two real attacking players in the entire team (along with Nani obviously). There needs to be another proper attacking player in there.

At least we have plenty on the bench if we need them though.

It's like a beefed up CC line-out.

I wouldn't be surprised if Fergie is playing Nani through the middle and Fletcher down the right (or Anderson down the left and Park on the right).

Whatever formation we start with, expect Nani to pop up all over the place.

You don't half talk rubbish at times do you Scholesy? Nani's our only match winner tonight is he?

:D

I like how you blatently avoided mentioning Macheda and even had a dig at him:lol:

This is Kiko's chance. He is playing as the main man through the middle rather than the wing.

Stoke Saturday - going to get bombarded with long balls / high balls - we'll need him fit.

Arguably need is a strong word if it was only longball and highball bombardment Stoke offer, Smalling is taller than Rio, and Vidic wins more of them.

Just saying.

With Rooney off, could we see Nani's role be modified a bit now? A constant threat between midfield and attack? Unless he's man marked for the whole match, he could prove lethal if he perfects that role.

Yeah expecting Nani to have a sort of free role today.

Expecting Obertan to come on today. Really hope he gets some sort of chance now with our left wing having no one anymore.

If he was a bit taller/better in the air he could develop in exactly the same way Ronaldo did.

Still think he's be mainly played out wide but with a lot of license to roam. Hoping to see him and Macheda link up as well as they did against Spurs.

Its fairly likely, in tough away games i can see him playing that role pretty effectivily with Berba up top, problme with that is we would idealy have Park and Valenica (:() on the wings to help with tracking back

I don't see what's so wrong with him saying that, to be honest. I was just thinking before I read his post that we're likely going to be completely reliant on Nani to give us that something extra in the final third.

Kiko has proven to be a match winner off the bench when we're chasing a game, but he hasn't really done much when he's started games with a somewhat weakened team around him, which is the same situation he's got tonight. At least he'll be upfront though, not on the left like he has been in his last few matches.

Bless him i bet hes hardly had a nights sleep with all the shit going on, i hope the players do it for him tonight as much as anything.

Amen to that.

Hate to think of someone his age being put through all the stress he's gone through this last couple of days. That's almost the worst thing about all of this.

If someone wants to save my trouble of having to look for a decent stream, I'd be a very happy camper
