MERGED: Rooney signs new contract!

I fecking hope not!!!

Hopefully there is no going back now. Even if he changes his opinion, I for one wouldn't want him at the club again. There are some things that can't be forgiven.

He just can't go back. How can he walk back into that dressing room? Onto that pitch, with players he's had a pop at today?

He's basically said what we currently have isn't good enough. Way to go for team spirit Wayne, you arrogant little cnut. Is our squad as good as 2 years ago? No it isn't, but we're still clearly good enough to compete for trophies as we still have done.

Spoilt piece of shit. Nobody will convince me it isn't about money.

Spoilt piece of shit.

I think this is the crux of the matter. He had so much so young, he's never known anything else. I suppose to a degree it could be argued that it's not entirely his fault that he thinks a certain way, but Christ alive he has a lot to learn.

Agree with all of that gal, bitter pill to swallow but better to kick the git out and rebuild which we have done before several times. Onwards and upwards

Dunno what you lot are expecting. I would be surprised if anything interesting or unexpected is said tomorrow by SAF or Gill. You do realise meetings happen all the time right? The problem is likely to be solved behind closed doors. If I were you lot I wouldnt hold my breath.
Well they did say they want to put the matter to bed so deciding something behind doors wont really stop the media interest and it won't let us focus on the team so whatever they decide will be made public imo.
Because the would make his transfer value go down
True but if their really going to put it to bed tomorow and as Gill's been talking to the Glazers I would assume something has already been sorted with regard to a purchasing club.

Not really, he's from a very humble background, so he of all people should realise his good fortune.

No, he's talking about how Villa was a target for us before he joined Barca.

I always thought it was Villa, as did the majority, but I can't remember if it was actually confirmed anywhere?

I know that, but in terms of his career, he burst onto the scene with massive hype, had a great showing for England in the Euros and became a poster boy at such a young age. Then came to United and he's won so much I can kind of understand his expectations becoming seriously warped. But like I said, he has a lot to learn if this is the case.

His logic isn't correct because your logic relies on the basic assumption that what ambitious clubs do, what the sole purpose and requirement of them, is buying loads of World Class players all over the fecking shop. Which is nonsense, and the realm of children who've played too many video games. The only clubs in the world who do this, or have ever done this are the sugar daddy rich and Madrid. We've never been either, so why is it right now?

The only time in our history when we did was just after the Treble when we got Seba and Ruud. We didn't do too well with them, and so reverted to buying young players and training them up...Which worked brilliantly. So why would we revert to buying World Class players for huge sums again? And why do you, or Rooney feel this is what you, or he deserves. Unless you've played too many video games, or been influenced by the emergence of the City's of this world.

Mockney, it doesnt make his statement wrong.

I agree, that we shouldnt be and are not normally a team that splash's loads on FM style purchases. And I am not saying we should.

However we have lost the BPITW and Tevez, and replaced them with a player noone had seen play and a young talented Mexican. Ofcourse he is going to be bemused, as are most of the fans.

Again, Im not buying that this is the only reason he wants out, but im also not buying that its soley greed.

Fergie himself confirmed it as far as I remember.

If anyone can be bothered, can someone provide an article or link to this please?

Just saw the managers press conferance after the game. inspiring comments from our great manager. He will take this setback in his stride and build one more great man utd team!!!!!!!!

SAF: ..."an opportunity. We will invest when the time was right. There's no value. We identified one player in the summer." Villa?

and then

SAF: "We get loads of calls/emails every week about players who want to play for Manchester United. Sometimes you see a cow in a different field and you think that cow might better than the one you have but doesn't always work out that way." We lost title by one point.
"

Are these quotes from today? No one else has picked up on these?!

My mistake, I take back what I said. I think I had read what you said in a different context, but watching SAF say it was interesting. Tomorrow should be intriguing :D

We also brought in a right winger who laid on a large amount of Rooney's goals for him. Wayne needs to get a frigging grip.

Thank feck indeed. Tony put the fear of Chadwick in me.

Valencia and Owen were brought in after Ronnie and the Argie cnut had left.

I'd love to see him stood gibbering on the touchline of a non-league club in ten years time, Gazza style...no bird or family, fat as feck, stinking of alchohol, in the knowledge that this was the moment it started to go wrong
