MERGED: Rooney signs new contract!

Can't we all just...get along?

I would say 99% of the posters here all agree that Rooney is an ungrateful, money grabbing, utter cnut of a person. It's just 1% who are still buying his ambition crap.

I've pointed that out. I said he had a 'fans view' and that's what people need to understand. It's not professional but he shouldn't be hung for it either. Are we ambitious? Rooneys talking about winning trophies and I think it's a fear that over the next few years it will get harder and harder without going out and attracting top players. It's hypocritical and it lacks faith in Sir Alex's vision but these are the most important years of a players career

At 25 we need to not let the david silvas of this world go to city or let Tevez go the way we did. It's slack. It is not showing ambition. We are dealing with it, by creating our own players. When you don't make statements of intent then it hurts the image of the club like if you sell a player, the club is falling apart.

Clearly he's been an idiot but you know what? His life is not the typical and people have to understand that he's lived in a dreamworld since he was 16. He's never had to worry about bills and the shit we have to. People don't get that. The club exposes the kids to it but if your thick, your thick and you won't get it.

The fact that he has a 'fan's view' of how things are going on at Manchester United makes him a complete moron given what he has actually faced and seen day-to-day at the club. He should have a much better view than just a 'fan's view.'

Also, how can any team give assurances to a player? This is football, for feck sake. Can Wayne Rooney guarantee Manchester United he'd still be a top class footballer in five years? Can he guarantee his wife will still tolerate his shit in five years? Jesus fecking Christ, his ignorance is no excuse. The fact that he has subjected himself to be in the company of such shitty advisors is no excuse. He has had tons of advice through out his career; the fact that he has only listened to the shitty ones so far is more than a coincidence.

What famous big buys have we had when big name players have left? Do you live in football manager? We develop players into superstars, rarely purchase them as superstars.

was not Berbatov the last big moneybuy?

think the club has decided to develop young players into future stars...as we did with Ronaldo for example. Nani is on his way to being a big player.

And we dont know how big Obertan, Smalling and Bebe will become.

Maybe Rooney just sounds like some of our transfer muppets here ;)

btw I am hearing a lot about Will Keane. Is he going to jump over Maceda and Diouf?

I don't think either of them could get any bigger tbh

That's why I said rarely. It's very rare. And Berbatov wasn't the player his price tag would suggest, we paid over the top for a fantastic player.

Like I mentioned earlier, what else can Patrice say when asked that question?

he can say no comment or he can walk off. You are trying to twist it for your own agenda

Striker, take a break from this thread please. You are winding the majority up here, and discussion is taking a step back to angered responses, so to avoid it going further, have a rest.

He wasn't best pleased, stroker. In fact I get the feeling Rooney's going to get lynched by his soon to be ex team mates.

You are correct with the first point but it's the mentality of people. He left the club he supported and his family to win trophies. Do people think he did not support Everton? Do people think he did not want them to be winning trophies or atleast challenging?

The second poinsts impossible to answer. Some people think wars a great idea. Personally I don't but it exists.

look at the video again. he said he HOPES he does play but he's not Sir Alex....just look at the video ..some people need to climb down abit. It is on video after all.

Now, yes people are rounding on me but am I worried?

I am not rounding on you, I just think you talk a load of shite!!

You are a post whore!!

Awful!

I'm not trying to do anything. I just know that if I was a manager in the same situation as SAF I'd be delighted with Paddy's response.

Walking away or saying "no comment" is basically an admission and that would be bad for the club in every way.

Rooney's statement contradicts itself throughout and he will certainly be questioned on it given chance.

I feel this new injury though will keep him away from the limelight until something is decided.

Striker, I've given you as close to a warning as you will get from me, I have very little patience left. If you have any disagreements about it, please PM me, I will respond there.

thanks  Unlike some I tried not to get personal. Don't people make fun of those who take the net to serious??? Just thinking out loud. You'd think I said God didn't exist but ohhh noooo. Rooney MIGHT stay and you get all these drama queens :) It gets old quick. That's what it comes down to. Rooney might stay. Not he will. He will stay. Rooney MIGHT stay and you have to deal with some unfortunate people but there you go

Perhaps he needs a surgery on his injury which would keep him out till January. Who would be suprised..

I don't think he's gonna walk out on Webster's dealing btw.

He is capable of it(being the utter cnut he is), but all the major clubs have a gentlemen's agreement not to use that rule, I can't see any club breaking it.

Yeah I only pulled this from a work colleagues brother who is a sports journo. He's been good and accurate in the past though.

You remind me of my Cocker Spaniel! She too has a touch of ADD.

He's insulted his teammates as a group. he's not named names. That's the first thing. However i've seen and heard none of the players saying they wouldn't forgive him? Patrices hopes he'll play for United again....where's the tatrums and the, 'omgz it's too late'? ..
Every single one of those players will be sat there asking themselves if Rooney was questioning their quality. It will range from VDS, Scholes, Giggs, Neville......am I too old, past it, not good enough etc to the younger ones coming through, particularly the new signings over the last 12/18 months. As Rooney was apparently very happy at United earlier this year the ones who may feel the worst over such a statement are Hernandez, Bebe and Smalling. Whether these players will feel comfortable playing with Rooney from now on is something that Fergie has to take very seriously indeed.

Bearing all that in mind do you really think there is a place in our squad for Rooney now?

If you know it's impossible to give assurances on the club's future, how can you defend Wayne's position? The whole fecking thing about Wayne wanting assurances is just an excuse to make him less of a cnut.

people either forget or have not lived through the years when we brought up some of the players that became United legends in the past.

We did not dominate the game almost non-stop as we have been doing for the last 20 years or so. When I look at teh current squad, there is a hell of a lot of potential there.

I said elswhere, if we qualify for the CL this season, it would be acceptable in a rebuilding season. Rooney leaving is a spanner in the works. But we still have some good players coming back from loan like Cleverly, Welback and Diouf and some great talent coming through the youth too. Plus I am sure we will get some 'almost there' players in the summer if not January.

Just keep clam lads. SAF has done it all...the greatest football manager of all time is still at the helm.

What exactly was bad about the statement? He's implied the team aren't good enough which is fair based how we played against barca

OMG NOES!! We didnt win the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL...OH NOES!! ..WE'RE FINISHED AS A CLUB!

Is he going to Barca then?

and how city and madrid have kept spending

OMG OH NOES WE AREN'T BUYING LOADS OF EXPENSIVE PLAYERS AND DON'T HAVE A BILLIONAIRE ARAB OWNER... WE'RE DOOOOOOMED!!

Is he trying to dictatate how the team is run then?

and it's not THAT bad a statement blaming the owners like some of you guys do.

We're fans on a message board, not an extremely privilaged player paid the GPD of a small country a week to kick a football who's won everything in the last 6 years here but who's suddenly become unhappy as of last week apparently after pledging to stay for life 6 months ago!

We have lost Tevez. We have lost Ronaldo. We have bought more youth. We have not looked to replace the old guard yet.

Anderson and Nani were bought to replace Giggs and Scholes. Since then we've bought Valencia, Obertan and more and brought through youth to fill their positions. No it's not Kaka and Ozil but we have never tried to fill positions with massive aquisitions. Name me a time when we have? That attitude is the one of a child who plays too many video games...plus no teams but City and Madrid are actually doing that. But some spastics are looking around and going "OMG, THEY'RE SPENDING £50m ON A PLAYER, WHY AREN'T WE, OMG, WE'RE feckED...THIS ISN"T LIKE PLAYING FIFA AT ALL!! OH NOES!!"

Look at george best who was carrying a team for awhile when it got to old and he became disillusioned.

Yeah, that's what happened. He carried a team with Bobby Charlton in it and then got disillusioned with not winning anything for 6 months. That's why he went to play for the Jewish Guild, Cork Celtic and Fulham straight after.

It happens. We need to stop being so tight. If there is a problem acknowledge it. Why blame a player for acknowledging what some of you lads fear?

Or, we need to stop acting like children and claiming we're in huge dire straights because we haven't won the League four years in a row, or got to the CL final for the first time in 3 or spent £50m on a player and Man City and Madrid have....Fans who did watch Best during his era would be sickened by that ridiculous, perspectiveless attitude.
