Manchester United vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers

Are Wolves gonna turn up this year?

I would imagine so, as they don't have a very important relegation clash straight after.

Anyway, I'd have Obertan and Park starting this one, Bebe on the bench.

Did you not watch the Rangers game

I did and I'd imagine Wolves to be more open than the masters of anti-football, although probably a bit more disciplined than their own Carling Cup performance.

Nine changes is a bit much, but at least three will happen given the Fletcher and Nani injuries, Smalling would probably go out and Ferdinand and Hernandez will return. Otherwise Berbatov's legs may be saved and Scholes may be a disiciplinary worry.

Should be interesting to see how many of the flu victims recover in time.

We need to take one game at a time and play a full strength team on Saturday. A win against City is pointless if we feck up against wolves.

Hernandez - Berbatov

Park - Carrick - Scholes - Obertan

Evra - Vidic - Ferdinand - Rafael

On the bench: Kuszczak, Fabio/Eikrem, O'Shea, Brown, Bebe, Gibson, Smalling,

Gibson's out with the virus that has affected a few players this week. Giggs has an outside chance and so has Fletch

Only just heard about the virus.

Hopefully Fletch and Giggs can make it.

It's a league game, put out the best available players and win the game first and foremost. Didn't we always mock at Benitez about this? If Fergie have to rest one player, i reckon it's Rio again. We will need him at City and Villa all in the space of 6 days.

Edwin

Wes--Smalling--Vidic--Evra

Obertan--Carrick--Scholes--Park

Berbatov--Hernandez

I think SAF will take a gamble - could be some crazy formation.

I've got a bad feeling about this game.

Wolves have been playing really well (despite getting poor results) and this virus thing is a nightmare.

Win this game and I will be extremely confident about the derby and our season as a whole.

From the club website:

Ryan Giggs and Darren Fletcher could run out against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, but Nani is facing a battle to be fit for the Manchester derby.

United's assistant manager Mike Phelan delivered the team news at the Reds' Carrington training base as Sir Alex Ferguson has been struck down with a virus, similar to the one that caused a number of players to miss the midweek trip to Turkey.

Darron Gibson appears hardest hit and definitely won't feature against Wolves, while Phelan said "one or two others" did not train on Friday and will be assessed on the morning of the match.

Veteran winger Giggs has been out of action since United drew 2-2 with West Bromwich Albion on 16 October after aggravating a hamstring strain but is now back in training.

"Ryan's started his preparation for the matches, but whether he'll be available on Saturday, we're not quite sure just yet," Phelan said. "We'll assess that in training."

Fletcher, who rolled his ankle during Tuesday's 3-0 win against Bursaspor, has shown "positive signs that he could recover". Phelan added: "We'll have another look at him this morning and hopefully he'll be available."

There was less positive news for Nani. The Portuguese winger suffered a groin strain and was forced off at the Ataturk Stadium in Bursa. He won't be fit to face Wolves, but could return for Wednesday's crucial clash with Manchester City.

"There's a possibility Nani will play against City," says Phelan. "He reported in yesterday and felt better than he expected. We'll progress him as quickly as we can with a view to having him play next week."

Good news about Giggs and Fletch, hopefully if there's any doubt for tomorrow they'll be saved for the derby with all the problems out wide it will be a great bonus to have Giggs fit for the derby game, Nani's the big worry, typical with the week we have coming he goes down with an injury, sounds like hes very much 50/50 for the derby now.

feck A DUCK!

I wouldn't worry Pogue. We'll win. Our first choice back 4 plus Carrick will get us a clean sheet and i'd fancy either "Chi Chi" or Berbatov to grab at least 1.

If Fletch is fit that would be great news as it means we would be able to rest Scholes for Wednesday's game.

From what I've heard, the virus has affected fringe players - also Anderson. Fletcher will likely play today. We do have problems out wide, but what the heck, we may as well strike whilst the momentum is there and put Obertan in the side while his confidence is high.

I think we'll get over the line in this one. The spine of the side is still very good.

No point in resting Scholes, if he is booked he will miss the Villa match not the City match, it is only a sending off where you miss the next match, for totting up there is a week wait, or so i believe !

Other than getting a needlesss booking, what about the actual need to give him a rest i.e. freshness, assuming Fergie isn't planning to not start him against City?

Is Rio going to be rested?

Berba should not be rested he is fit enouggh to play 3 games in a week.

Berba should not be rested he is fit enough to play 3 games in a week.

Berbatov was upfront on his own, with little support until Bébé came on, I can't see him playing 90 minutes here, then 90 minutes against City, when he's likely to be upfront on his own again.

hmmm... Berbatov strongest attribute is not his stamina... It might be a good idea to try to keep Obertan's and Bebe's momentum going and go 4-4-1-1 with Park in the middle and those two on the wings. Hernandez will deliver, if not we could always add Berbatov to the XI towards the end of the game where we score most goals anyway, he could do great against tired defenders whom would have to run along with Park all day.

Rafael - Evans - Vidic - Evra
Bebe - Fletcher - Scholes - Obertan
Park
Chicharlito

This team would win against Wolves.
