World Cup 2018 & 2022 bids

Let me get this straight:

The British press outs corrupt officials.

Fifa bans them.

Fifa officials then blame the press for the failure of England's bid.

And you think the problem is the the British press?
Obviously. In case you haven't noticed the FIFA officials are the electorate who votes you must win. Secondly, the ones your press went after were set to vote England's way guaranteed save for that Warner dude.

When it came to the bidding process, nothing your press did helped anyone bar themselves frankly.

Do you not think the problem just might be a flawed voting system iand corrupt officials?
I don't. For the problem is the British press thinking they can mess about with politics and smile about it after. They should have shut the feck up. Their stubborn self righteous bullshit wasted the excellent efforts of the England bid team. To deny that is just living in denial. England was robbed of a great chance to host the world cup by their own press.

Where in the world are you Chief. I can't but help think you must be somewhere where bribery, corruption and arse licking are the norm.

It's like they are blaming the reporters for letting everyone know that BP spilled some oil in the Gulf of Mexico. I can't figure it out either.
:lol:So alleged corruption was up theri with the BP spill that it just hard to be outed:lol::lol:

You guys are really not serious. Would you happily vote for a politician who openly embarrassed you just because he had the best merits for the job? Seriously?

It is not just about tiny Qatar - it is about the whole Arab world.

It isn't about the USA or Britain, it is about the whole Christian world, or something like that.

:nono: Fifa has managed to screw with the English, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean speaking world.

I have no problem with anyone outing corrupt officials.

I am genuinely surprised anyone - you in this instance - would think the problem lay with person(s) who did the outing rather than the corrupt officials themselves.

Mafia state and back handers a plenty, good.

People who expose them as crooks, bad.

:lol:You get sillier by the minute.

Unlike you I'm not blind to how politics works. Piss of the electorate and alienate or discredit your own supporters and you wont win. It's that simple. It has feck all to do with bribery and arse liking. Just common sense.

I know, it's bloody mental. The fact the british media exposed elements of fifa before the vote should be applauded not criticised!

People keep saying it's naive of those criticising fifa to not blame the media. In reality they are being naive for not thinkin it's slightly dubious that fifa close ranks rather than welcome any solid evidence of corruption.

Some elements of the british media, like the triesman sting, were not good but in general having a free press who try to expose corruption is not a bad thing - to suggest it is and that englands bid should have been effected by this should not be seen as a bad thing about the press. It should be seen as evidence that fifa are at the least power mad, egotistical bastards or, as is reasonable to suspect, money laundering, fraudulent law breaking cnuts.

It's baffling that people on here think everyone is angry with fifa just because england werent given the competition. The anger stems from seeing how bent and incompetent fifa is that they can give both tournsments to the hosts that they think are the least able to hold it. In the words of ian holloway, how wrong is that?!

The last few days just increase my dislike of fifa - adding to a long line of farcical decision making over the last 20 years, such as the prevention of using technology, thd hypocratic greed of spreading the game through the world but only if they use the right sponsors and change their tax laws, their allowing and backing for suspending the togolese football team for withdrawing from the african nations cup, their pressurising of the french gov not to investigate why france fecked up in 2010, jack warner (enough said), their reluctance to efficiently sanction countries who allow clear racist behaviour. The list is endless. They are complete and utter cnuts. I hate them for that and the recent process has done nothing to make them look any better than the muddied reputation they have in the eyes of anyone with half a brain.

You out corrupt officials when it serves a worthy purpose. What your press did served feck all purpose beyond lining their pockets and increasing their following. I can't believe you honestly think they did anything remotely noble and right.

All your press wanted to do was make headlines. Not change anything for the better. Not caring one bit what their selfish action could do to England's bid to host the world cup. I'm amazed you don't find their obvious selfishness cringe worthy.

You're doing an excessive amount of this silly laughing yourself, pointless because it doesn't hide the fact that you're reluctant to say where you're from. Apologies if I hit a sensitive spot but you do seem to take corruption lightly. We don't here.

Except outing corrupt officials?

By your logic, if you see a pickpocket stealing someone's phone, you would say nothing because it serves no purpose to you?

Is the entire Arab world celebrating this? Do people in Libya or Oman or Somalia really care that Qatar got the World Cup in 2022?

They may, I just don't know that they do.

Well maybe I went a bit far saying the whole Arab world but I expect that Qatar's victory will be celebrated all around the Gulf (UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Saudi etc) and surrounding countries.

Are there as many Arabs in the world as Americans?

What has that got to do with anything? And the answer is yes anyway.

Why...how will it benefit the rest of the Arab world?

I think people are not understanding the huge significance of a major world sporting even being held in the Middle East - the ramifications for the whole region are endless.

If he embarrassed me as i'd been corrupt? Course i wouldnt vote for them.

But let me ask you, who would be the villain? It would be me wouldnt it, for being corrupt.

It's like the british mp's getting upset for the press exposing their expenses claims. Except they were accountable to someone and fifa arent. For some reason chief, you think that them being unaccountable is fine and that as they are untouchable they should be allowed to do whatever they like, regardless of the merits of the bids they receive.

I'm sure Egypt are delighted that they've bid so many times, have a decent team and not got it, and all of a sudden it goes to Qatar.

I have been saying exactly this for some time now, you will find that not many agree but I see you have this one under control so I will leave you to it !

That first line you wrote there chief is the shittest thing i've ever read on here, honestly, if you think like that you can go feck yourself. What a stupid, cowardly attitude.

What have Egypt got to do with it?
I am sure they will be pleased that Qatar got it since they were not in the running

Now we are getting some where.....

But let me ask you, who would be the villain? It would be me wouldnt it, for being corrupt.
No. Because it is not your fault the one you wanted to vote for decided to cost himself an election with self righteous behavior.

Someone can't walk up to you, assure you what a fool you are
and expect to get your vote after. No matter how right he is about your alleged foolishness.

It's like the british mp's getting upset for the press exposing their expenses claims.
No. It's not and never ever will be. The MP's are not comaprable to an electorate in any way. You are doing the equivalent of saying the people are accountable to those they elect.

For some reason chief, you think that them being unaccountable is fine .
Not at all. I just don't believe you can disobey the rules of politics and win. Your press did that and the results were not pretty. If your press was the FIFA press then the freedom of the press argument some are making would hold water.

I did some searching on wiki, Egypt has by far the largest Arab population in the world. Why would they be please Qatar got it? Perhaps they wanted to be the first Arab country to host it?

Technically they're not proper Arabs, though...unlike Qataris. Just throwing that in there....

And Rubbery, stop the buffoonery. I suspect it can't be helped though.

Mate, I'm giving up. None of these folks want to accept that disobeying the simple rules of poltics did England over. For them its better to blame FIFA, bribery, colluding, the process, the electorate and even David Beckham allegedly being smug when he talked of his dead Grand pa..for what happened to their bid and in the over all bid process.

Qatar is in Asia, Egypt are in Africa - they are not in competition for hosting the World Cup.

No, but there is a certain prestige to become the first of anything. Egypt could have been the first Arab nation to host the WC.

Anyway, I'm done with the Arab topic.

That first line you wrote there chief is the shittest thing i've ever read on here, honestly, if you think like that you can go feck yourself. What a stupid, cowardly attitude.
You first. There's nothing I hate like people supporting self righteous bullshit. For me when you out corruption you had better have a fecking good reason that can help make change for the better occur. If you don't you should feck off with your outing of it. If wanting something dome for strictly the right reasons is cowadrly so be it.

Your fecking press didn't have a good reason at all. They were just being selfish as usual. It is not my fault you are proving to dim to realise something that obvious and are trying to pass if of as something worth applauding. I'll be damned before I praise the actions of the very fools who speed up the world cup ending up in racist Russia.

Look chief, i usually like your posts and we'll go round in circles here so i'll stop after this one -

You are basically saying fifa might be corrupt but its the medias fault that england wont get the tournament as they attempte to expose this corruption and that, rather than this exposure be praised, they should be criticised for not playing by the (corrupt) rules. If blatter was a decent, honourable individual and he wanted fifa to be clean then he would welcome any revelations of corruption and drive it out.

If fifa weren't bent then there would be nothing to expose so the press would have nothing to report. Therefore the issues stem from fifa not the press.

Do you not think it would be better to hav a transparent governing body and that if we have one riddled with collusion and dodgy deals we should want it to be exposed and cleaned up?
