Premier League Fixtures (26 - 29 Dec)

They're fun to watch but feck knows how a team that is currently 5th and potentially 10 points off the top could be described as "brilliant".

Not disagreeing with you, because I don't think they can be described as brilliant yet either, but your logic doesn't work in that statement. The Inter team is pretty brilliant, you only have to look at last years trophies for that, and they are 7th in the league and potentially 7 points off the top. Same with Bayern who are 14 points off the top. The league position can't really determine whether a team is brilliant or not otherwise we would be calling City brilliant and they can feck right off.

There's no doubt the current Spurs team are playing very well and 2 games with 10 men have played very well. They are on their way to being possibly a brilliant side depending on possible future success brought on by the way they are currently playing.

Amusingly, the spacker on five live when just asked can city win the league replied with "halfway through the league season and they're a point clear at the top."

So as long as we only play 35 games then City can certainly win the title...

Inter are clearly not a brilliant side this season, ditto Bayern.

We could argue the toss about exactly what "brilliant" means but when the United team of '99 gets thrown in the mix, I think it's fair to expect them to be higher up the league table to be worthy of that kind of praise.

He didn't compare the quality of our squad against the quality of the squad in 99... He just said they keep bouncing back, like we did in 99. Nobody said 'This Spurs squad is as good as ours was in 99.' Too many people see 'it's like this' and assume they mean something completely different which they don't.

It's beyond me how you can have manager to miss that, the way everyone's been harping on about it recently.

Harped on by who exactly? I heard it mentioned a while back but wasn't sure if it was still the case.

Interesting that Everton have gone with Cahill up front on his own rather than selecting 1 of Saha, Yakubu or Beckford. All of whom are on the bench.

Gary Cook is probably trying to negotiate that at the moment.

Not saying that Spurs will match United 99, but Aston Villa were leading the table by Christmas, United were 4 points off the first place, and the fifth placed Leeds were 2 points off United.

Again, the reference to United 99 is not because of the quality of the team, just the fact that Spurs seem to come back in spite of all these red cards and first half leads.

Commentators, media and pundits to name a few.

In all honesty I rarely read anything from the media unless it's United related and I always fast forward the mind numbingly boring punditry parts of MOTD and the like.

I've heard commentators mention it a few times but I can't say I jotted it down or anything.

In other words, feck off you smug cnut.

"Sunderland have 34 attempts on goal. Blackpool have nine. Blackpool win 2-0. Perfect away win!"

Second match in running, Spurs down to 10 men and winning comfortably. Both controversial decisions, and they are just like United 99, coming back again and again.

Brilliant football team.

Spurs? Brilliant?

This is a side, who please don't forget have kept something like two clean sheets all season. Yeah it makes for good watching, but there is no "brilliant" football team in the world that conceeds that often, and keeps a clean sheat so rarely.

Why aren't Arsenal brilliant too? They're ahead of Spurs, "play the right way" (according to the same media who proclaim Spurs do), they're pretty much doing if not slightly besting everything Spurs are. (Just an example).

So are Spurs brilliant because you like 'Arry? Or is it because you think they're a nice English club?

I'm not having a go at you at all, just the notion that Spurs are a "brilliant team" is really saying that the term 'brilliant' team has become such a lacklustre, overused term that it is now inept.

Nice to watch with a few classy players, yes.

Some resilience that is admirable, yeah.

Brilliant team? No.

Another good display from Spurs .... deserved winners over thuggish Newcastle. Could have been 3 - 0 if Pav's header hadn't been brilliantly pushed onto the post then agonisingly ricochetted off the other post.

Also another soft red card, but once again the team show their resilience and managed to score a 2nd even with just 10 men.

Dawson was immense at the back against Carroll, Modric pulled the midfield strings once again, but VdV had a quiet game ... maybe tired after the Villa game. Bale's goal was star quality and Lennon's wasn't bad either.

Right now we're up into 4th ... just 5 points off the top of the table with a game in hand and Fulham at home up next. Good stuff.

Dawson has been immense for you'll since his return. You'll need him to be fit all season if you have to come 4th this year.

True, but his other option is Shane Duffy - age 18.

This game's just really not worth watching, painfully dull.

Watch me turn it off and it ends up 3-2.

SAF has lost 3 out of 53 games against teams managed by his former players: McLeish, Keane, Bruce, Ince, Robson, Hughes.
