Premier League Fixtures (26 - 29 Dec)

Sorry but no blaming of refs here

That´s bollocks. One penalty for them that doesn´t exist and a clear penalty for us he doesn´t give and you´re telling me we shouldn´t blame him?

Analize us all you want and fair enough, we should do that to improve, but tonight Probert really cost us 2 points.

Spurs have only an outside chance (but chance nonetheless). But there are certainly more than just Man. Utd and Arsenal in contention, despite what you have claimed.

United and Chelsea are the only teams in contention.

As for 80 pts, I'm very confident that we will reach that.

Sorry but no blaming of refs here

This is precisely the kind of game after that Chelsea one that we have to win - we cannot afford to work hard in difficult game and take our feet off the pedal in this kind of game two days later.

And complacency it is

Clichy
Djouru
Song
Walcott
Van Persie

Nasri on the bench !!

all 'rested' from the Chelsea game

Wtf is Wenger thinking not playing Song in this game - absolutely a must starter in a toughish away game

If you want van Persie match fit - then play him ffsakes he's only fit right now but get him on and get him 'match tight'

We are not too good that we can rest all of these players We simply are'nt and you have to be a managerial spastic to think we are

Fking idiotic from Wenger

Well played Wigan deserved point

Well played Wenger - great opportunity to heap pressure on Utd but as ever - you fking blew it

can't comment on the penalty as I did not see what happened. But not to be able to beat a 10 man Wigan side is...unacceptable for a title ambitious side.

Wenger will need bollocking and rightly so.

oh yeah...evra for united yes...who else...

In recent years I can come up with Patrice Evra, Laurent Blanc, Louis Saha and a guy named Eric Cantona. Not to mention players like Obertan and Pogba who may shine in the future.

Now how many clubs abroad did the English feed in recent years? You've got the French to thank for the competitiveness in your league, Wenger and his youth policy in the Paris suburbs; Cech, Essien, Malouda, Anelka & Drogba who all had their breakthrough in the Ligue 1

This self-absorption about the PL uniqueness and how Messi would be on the bench at the Britannia Stadium is quite frankly annoying, especially since the English clubs have hardly provided entertainment in the past months.

Arsenal got what they deserved tonight simple as that, the team selection took the piss out of wigan, it stank of your not good enough to trouble our reserves, so what they had 2 games in 48 hours? so did we so did Chelsea so did Spurs etc, none of those sides played a piss take 11 and took opposition for granted.

Why not? The 'pen' won them the game? We had two games in 48 hours and another away on Saturday. Wenger gambled and it nearly came off. We can play the A team at Brum on Saturday.

You had almost 2 weeks off before the Chelsea game right? So what's the need to make such wholesale changes? Completely unnecessary to rest Walcott, Nasri and the rest all together.

Even more pressure on you'll to win at B'ham now which is a far harder place to win at than Wigan.

Naa I leave blaming refs for everything you do wrong to Utd fans on here

It all evens out in the long run and if you can't select a good enough side to do a job at Wigan then you aren't winning a league title - end of

Sarni says it's only United and Arsenal.

I say it's all of the current top 5 teams, even if some are much stronger favourites than others.

You pays yer money and you makes yer choice, but in my view it's foolish to claim a 2-hose race when (a) the table is so tight and (b) there are so many games left to play.

If we can win all our home games till the end of the season we need just 15 points to touch 80 from our away games. That's 5 wins

I´m not talking about United, the title or team selection.

I´m saying that a ref that fecks up twice in favour of the same team in a match that ends 2-2 can and should be blamed by the fans.

What's this referee decision the gooners are moaning about? Was it as bad as the one in our game?

I was only watching patches of their game on a crap stream but I don't think there was any contact for the Wigan penalty. I'm assuming that's what they are referring to, but it wasn't as obvious as the brum goal feck up by any means.

ah yes...but those players you mentioned are from different eras. Hey listen, I'm talking about a lower team beating of drawing with a major team. Ferguson said himself the league has changed, the mid table teams have caught up, challenged the top teams in a way they haven't before. I talking about a league that will always challenge a footballer...whereby they think they can do the motions...but ah..no they can't. The french league...as a league not individuals..and the german....as a league not individuals..the spanish league as a league nooooooooot individuals....can't compare to the competitive nature of the english league....come on.....its obvious...

2 games in 48 hours

Man Utd (817 points) is the best #PL club of the 1st decade of the 21st century, followed by Chelsea (801), Arsenal (770) & Liverpool (695)

Get in!

Wigan's penalty was a very close call. I think the penalty was the correct decision. However, Arsenal did not receive a penalty for a blatant handball in the last few minutes.

Arsenal fans will feel aggrieved, but it was surely not as outrageous as Birmingham's goal.

On a side note, Cleverley played well. Excellent work rate and can deliver a stunning cross.

Was it foolish to say La Liga is a 2 horse race before the season even started when everyone had ZERO pts and all 38 games each to play?

I've maintained that United & Chelsea are the only teams in contention since August and nothing has changed.

Best fans in the world™ lose again.

Arsenal drop 2 points against soon-to-be-relegated Wigan.

Chelsea barely get the win at home against Bolton.

A decent day.

Wathcing the Chelsea highlights they really did spawn a win tonight didn't they, offside goal, clear Terry handball again not given (how many times does Terry handball in the area only for the ref to ignore it??) Rickets missing a sitter etc, lucky lucky boys tonight.

Oh well, 4 points clear of Chelsea with a game in hand, 2 clear of Arsenal with a game in hand, 2 games in hand on City, who wouldn't have taken that in August?

we have had loads of penalties not given for us. that I can accept.

I agree a ridiculous decision such as that 'goal' given against us yesterday puts even that Drogba offside 'goal' in the shade.

bensmith_times Last time #lfc had less points at turn of the year was in 1953-54 ... the season they were relegated

The French and Germans would more than compete if they could afford half a billion of losses per year, which for the record may soon be the case since Paris Saint Germain is on the brink of being taken over by some Qatari owners, watch your space in the upcoming years.

Nothing to boast about a league being more entertaining than others when its clubs are all in debt as opposed to the German and French financial fair play system. When on top of that, all the talent on display in said "entertaining league" actually comes from all parts of the world but the national one, the only thing you can be proud of is your club's owners.

La Liga is not the Prem. A look at the table - and other factors - says that United and Chelsea are not the only 2 teams in contention.

Just because 4 teams can win a league instead of 2 does not mean the league as a whole is more entertaining.

A look at the PL tables of the last 6 seasons tell you that United & Chelsea are by far the most likely teams.
