Chelsea vs. Manchester United

I think we'll see:

VDS
O'Shea Smalling Vidic Evra
Scholes
Fletcher Carrick
Nani ------------- Rooney
Berbatov

Smalling and Vidic gave the ball away 8 times, JOS 9 times and Evra 10 times

Well, you can bring on the stats decotron, but what I meant was there was a couple times where he was un-pressured, on the right, tried to play a ball to Fletch but it just went out and Sheasy himself put out a hand saying it was a misplaced pass.

If you compare that to his silkiness vs Man Citeh, he was average imo.

Hardly miss-placed a pass that day.

O´Shea plays solid in the defence and we`ve a lot of clean-sheets with him, this isn`t just a fluke. I´m not his biggest fan and he isn`t the best Manchester United defender in the club history but he does his job in the defence very good.

Try comparing that to a dominant game vs Man citeh and it was totally differrent mate, I'm not saying he is a bad defender... But he was that was an average O'shea game, if he was silky he'd be ala the Man citeh game.

and Chicharito to come in to change the game if needed.

Think his pace would expose the age of the Big Man Terry.

0-2 would be a good result, but seeing how conservative and based on our away form, a 1-1 result would be good to leave the Bridge with.

Terry has just turned 30, no real age for a defender. He's slow because he's always been a slowish CB, just like Vidic, his game isn't based mostly on pace like a Rio or Stam type.

I reckon Hernandez should start or Berbatov, they are our top striker goal scorers. Hope we don't fear Chelsea too much with our lineup as now is the best chance to beat them there in a while.

Got a feeling the ref mike give us a bad decision we don't like after what went on drama wise with Rooney in the media. Any fifty fifties could easily go their way, more so.

Really hope the game doesnt swing because of some poor ref'ing decisions. Either way.

Yep. A good old fasioned win the right way would be beautiful.

I'm going for a 3-0 to us.

Hernandez x1, Berba x2

If Giggs is back and fit I don't see the point of starting with Rooney out wide. Big call then on who to start up top considering Berbatov had the weekend off.

When is Park back?

Wish we had him for tonights game, he is vital in these kind of games and has come up with important goals against Chelsea and Arsenal in the past.

Is Torres allowed to play this game in fact ? He already played for Liverpool for this journey, if I'm not mistaken. Did the rules change ?

He would only be preculded from playing if this were an FA Cup tie because he's already played for Liverpool in the 3rd round. This rule doesn't apply to league games.

Well the fixture we are talking about (United vs Chelsea - 19 Dec. 2010) is a delayed game.
The same day, many games got postponed because of the snow.

Liverpool played (with Torres) that postponed game on 26th Jan. 2011.

If Torres plays again today, he would have played twice for the same journey.
Before, it was not allowed, but maybe rules have changed, as nobody is raising the point?

Ah really ? I thought it was...
Then if Torres got transfered and was always fit, he could potentially play 39 games and have 1 more chance to score than any other footballer in the league !

Never heard of anything along those lines in the rules.

That's actually a better point you're making than we all first assumed i think.

yep.. that is a good point.
a player could potentially play more than 38 league games in a season if there isnt a rule to address this issue..
Never heard of it tho, so no clue

Goodness - hearing it is Atkinson as ref really makes me nervous. Wasn't he the twat that screwed us over at the bridge last season? No penalty on Valencia, the phantom foul by Fletcher and then no foul in the box given?

Can't put the offside call where Rooney was clean through or the offside for the goal on him but, if it was him last season - he better not feck us over again.

Aye, the Russian mafia man probably paid good money to the FA to get Atkinson for this match.

Maybe another Fergie master-stroke and surprise Chelski with the formation.

fecking hell that's a good point. Would make sense actually to not allow him to play the game.

The only reason a player could be prevented from playing in a specific fixture is in a cup competition when they've already played for a different team in the same competition, or a loanee who is contractually obliged not to play against his own club.

Not sure what you mean by "the same journey" but there's never been any other reason for a player to be prevented from playing a specific fixture.
