Im suprised nobody saw the humour in the last part of my Valencia-Nani contrast post.

Of course Nani crosses to Rooney all the time.

But every game Rooney (and Berbatov) has a go at Nani for not crossing.

I thought it was pretty funny but know-it-alls don`t.

I`ve only missed the West Ham CC game this season and only 3 or 4 games since 2005.

Oh I'm not even going to look at the Nani/Valencia argument because someone will (or has) bring up the assist statistic and I'll just get angry and possibly green and deaf like Lou Ferrigno.

No mate, the passing we mostly were moaning about were the constant short passes he was feckin' up...

Even from his debut season you can tell the lad had better crossing abilities than Ronaldo, Ronaldo's first 3 years of crossing were just bull crap. Compared to Nani's, it is no wonder why SAF said that Nani has adapted to the PL quicker ( well he was a bit older too )
 
There is a reserve game according to the Man United Youth's page on the 3rd - hopefully he'll make an appearance.

So now the explaination is that Nani has Scholes-like raking long pass ability and thats whats racking up the assists?

When players get lots of assists from passing its their short passing game thats clearly very impressive. Its much harder and much less frequent to get assists from 40 yard balls over the top. It will become easier with players like Hernandez in the team though

Clearly a very high percentage of Nani's assists come from crosses. You can remember the odd throughball now and again because he can do it, just nowhere near as often

Last I heard was he could feature next weekend in the FA Cup. That was a week or so ago that I heard that though.
 
If there had been a news he's back, there would have been a new thread, without any doubt.

Nah, Ekeke, you've been talking about Nani's short passing since he joined the club, clearly you watched him feck up many short passes, not understanding his team mate in his 2nd season... it continued throughout that 3rd season at the start until he started after that injury and his performances has never dropped then...

I'm talking about just those easy give and goes, easy 5 yard passes where he seemed to feck up nearly everytime in his 2nd season...
 
I would have thought he'd have got a run out in the reserves on Thursday past to start getting him going but, unreasonable/wishful side of me thinks maybe it's because he might get included on the bench today.
 
Wasn't included on the bench but he travelled with the squad. Has got to mean something, I think he'll get a cameo next reserve game and then possibly a cameo in the league.

God I missed him so much, one of my favourite players in the current squad. We are lacking penetration and proper crossing, his pace was electric too. Hopefully the injury hasn't left his mental strenght in ruins.
 
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted they have missed Antonio Valencia this season.

Valencia has been out of action since September after suffering a badly broken ankle in United's UEFA Champions League game with Rangers.

There were initially fears that he would be out for the remainder of the season, but the winger is close to a return to action.

The 25-year-old has been back in training for the last few weeks and he could be involved in the squad for this weekend's FA Cup quarter-final clash with Arsenal.

Ferguson is delighted to have the Ecuador international back and he feels his pace and penetration has been missed down the right wing.

"He was fantastic last season, absolutely brilliant," the Scot is quoted as saying in The Sun.

"He was a great signing, he really was.

"The great thing about him was he takes the ball with such great strength and balance. He can take the ball up to the other end of the pitch for you. We missed that pace and acceleration.

"Although Nani has done fantastic - I mean he's been a revelation this season - we've missed that."

Massive boost to have him back. I don't expect much from him this season after coming off such a bad injury but having a first choice winger back is very good news.

Now, just need Park and Nani back and things look much better.
 
I can't believe how good he looked today.

They way I see it, they knew Nani was in great form and Giggs was still playing great, so they didn't rush him back with the original January and February estimates and gave him the full time needed, and hopefully it'll pay off.

I love this lad, he also seems to make Rooney play better too!
 
The Premiership would have been over had he been fit. United looked so much better with him in the team even at half throttle.
 
Great to see him back. I just love how he's all business. Get the ball, get forward as quickly as possible, find some space, and cross. Very little farting around with the ball. Not that I don't like the play of some of our other wingers, but I do like the extra versatility that comes with being able to give the ball to Valencia and let him storm up the pitch in a matter of seconds.
 
His return today COULD easily have a massiv say in where the title goes.

He looked very, very good today considering he has been out for so long. Just needs minutes now to get back in the swing if things

Most definitely. Nani has had a great season, and I've always been a fan of the lad, but he does still have a tendency to dwell on the ball while he works out whether there's a shot on for himself, and those 2-3 seconds give the opposition time to get behind the ball. I've got flack on here recently for pointing this fact out, but it's true. And I'm a big fan of Nani.

Valencia, although not as all round talented as Nani (he only has one foot ffs) is so direct, and so committed to providing dangerous balls into the box that our strikers know exactly what to do when he gets the ball - get into the box because the ball WILL come, not might come as is the case with Nani (and most modern wingers).

It's so great to have him back, lets just hope he hasn't been rushed at all.
