Manchester United vs. Marseille

Waiting all friggin day for this. Fired up like at no other time this season. I love these second leg European games. No other games are as a tense as these.
STUFF EM LADS!

Dare I say it but, I would have liked to see Gibson and a 4-5-1. Carrick and Scholes alone together scares me.

Sit back relax and lets hope we win. In the end football doesnt have to make logic on paper - many were surprised when we played 7 defenders against Arsenal but still won.

I admit I am concerned with todays team selection but lets see how it goes.

He was pants against Liverpool but played well at the weekend I thought.

he looked great against arsenal...or was I mixing him up with Fabio....

actually I think he has not played much since....not sure it is for teh reason you suggest.

hope not :nervous:
Against Arsenal he was on the wing so it was a bit different.

If I remember correctly he came back from the concussion, played one game (where he didn't play all that well) and picked up a little knock. Missed another game or two, then came back and played one game (where he once again didn't play all that well) and picked up another knock which kept him out for a game or two. One of the knocks was a hamstring injury if I remember correctly, although can't remember if it was the first or second one. And he's basically been coming in and out ever since, never looking as solid and dependable as he was earlier in the season.

Don't get me wrong, he hasn't been playing particularly badly. But it's more like he was playing last year, lots of excitement but getting caught out of position and diving into silly tackles a bit too often. It was noticeable that he was playing with a bit more maturity this season until the concussion. Once he gets a good run of games he'll hopefully quickly get back to that level, but we have to be careful where we give him that run. I'm not sure what our fixture list is like after this match, hopefully we've got a few 'easy' games in a row coming up to get him back into form.

I'm going to just enjoy this game and take whatever the result it comes. I'm already more looking forward to the Bolton game

Any Fergie word on Vidic on whether he will be ready for Bolton?

Vidic out for 3 weeks?! Bloody hell that's the biggest blow to our title challenge possible. He's the one who holds the defense together :(

Don't panic, we have an international break for 2 weeks so he will only miss Bolton. I'm quite sure he's back for West Ham.

Obviously we can't be super confident about the back four but that Marseilles defence is far from clever. I think if we can get a grip on the midfield we'll be ok. Depends if we play a five again with Rooney deep.

Its probably a week, but fergie wouldnt let him play for his national team and risk aggravating it.

Fabio's like a competant leftback version of Gareth Bale.

The commentator here, who is a well known Liverpool fanatic, is really making a meal of Nani being able to play.

Anyone else think Rooney will move left and giggs central?
or Rooney drop into midfield/AM like he did against Arsenal

a 4-4-2 when we cant afford to concede is a bit risky

Ok loads of journos now tweeting that Vidic is out for 3 weeks. Big blow :(

Saloman thinks otherwise though :

DoronSalomon @henrywinter @MOgdenTelegraph Fergie didn't say
that! He told TV he COULD be out for 3 weeks if he was risked and aggravated his calf
