I'm afraid that's not how Redcafe (or indeed most internet forum) works. If everyone who used the word twat was banned, there'd be very few of us left. Besides, that's not how you're meant to address the mods. You seem to think they're some sort of e-waiters.

What you're actually meant to do is click the little icon to the left of the offending post that has a exclamation mark in a circle. What that does is "reports" the post, alerting the moderating team to it.

I wouldn't bother though, because as I say, calling someone a twat isn't really grounds for a ban.

Thanks for the post and phrase e-waiters, had a chuckle at that one!

I have no objections to users using the word t*** online or i wouldn't be on here. Just when using it to call other united fans seems bloody stupid in a man Utd forum. Yes my opinion proved to be wrong and I came back and held my hands up. But then we have kids on here showing off the size of their virtual balls!! For me no place in the caf for this otherwise it will become like rawk and blue moon, where fans are on there to simply slate one another.

Nothing wrong with All 3 United there, we've all made assumptions/comments before games/players coming good/goals or whatever that have come back and bitten us in the arse after. It's whether the person comes back and admits to their idiocy that's important, which you did.

Kraftwerkers comments were completely unjustified.

Looked decent against a very young Everton reserve side. But, regardless of the quality of the opposition - the two shots he had on goal - were very good. If he plays today, I have a feeling will score.

Would've liked it if he started today, but hey, hindsight is 20/20. Needs to rediscover his form from earlier in the season with an extended run in the side now that Scholes is out for three games.

thought he did well coming on, we needed his drive forward. Obviously lacked some sharpness in his passing and being down a man didnt help but I thought it was a small, very small, positive today.

He had nobody to pass, they all stood still.

Exactly, it looked most the time that he was just going to drive past everybody. Ended up having to stop, turn and pass it back almost every time.

He did well. In a half where we offered nothing at all, he played one beautiful pass to Park, and got involved in some nice and encouraging moves. Final pass was rusty but that's understandable. At least there was some drive and legs to our midfield with him.

Was impressed with him. Brought a sense of urgency to the team when he came on.

Arruda, can I ask what your expectations were of Anderson when he was with Porto and how do you feel he's developed at United?

I've discussed this a lot in other threads. I thought he was going to be one of the worlds best players, from what I saw here. I thought he left too soon and to the wrong club. Too soon because he was doing great here, Porto has a good level of exposition and he was a key player already, he could build a name for himself and leave the country with a different statute, not as a promise but as a grown player. And to the wrong club because his style really doesn't fit United, he was never meant to be a CM, he was as "Maradonish" as they get, roaming free and bossing the game. At United he was given discipline and defensive responsibilities, which as a hard working professional he is, made him forget about the creative aspect of his game and focus on team work, and I think it was detrimental to him, as he dropped a style of game in which he could excel to one which he may become competent but I doubt ever world class. Anyways, a lot of folks here don't agree with me, but my opinion (and almost unanimous among Porto fans) was that he left to the wrong club and at the wrong time, and that he could be much better had he stayed and then left for Spain or Italy.

I have always thought he might have been more suited to Spain, I think he really has a pretty full locker when it comes to what you look for in a player, bar poor shooting. People deride his fitness but I feel that he actually just runs himself out of games at times, by sprinting around the pitch. For some reason at United it seems there is often a spot for Anderson some where, but it is rarely the one that brings the best out of him.

Patience Aruda. He will fulfill his early potential.

For me, he completely changed the game when he came on against City. His driving runs through the centre were giving us a much needed link between the defence and attack, and for the last ten minutes or only noteworthy attacks were coming through him.

He looked confident and determined, and, I wager that had the rest of the team been in a similar form to him when he came on, we would have gotten the goal back.

Genuinely excited for this lad now, and fully convinced he is going to come good next season. He's had to play a more bland, central role than he was used to in Porto, and I think that was to teach him the fundamentals, which might have went by the wayside had he signed for another club.

Combine what he has learnt at United with the natural flair he has demonstrated over and over, and I think Anderson will be a force to be reckoned with come next year.

Pleased to hear it and hope you're right. Frankly I don't think he did much and I remain of the opinion that he's limited - very reliant on his left foot, generally inconsistent, can't shoot or head, injury prone and a big ego to go with it. He joined United in 2007 and has managed 90 odd appearances in that time -ie in nearly four seasons scoring all of two goals. Admittedly he's had injuries but that's part of the problem. I think he joined us shortly after recovering from a broken leg ! Still if ever there was a time for him to really show what he can do, consistently, this is it.

very much in agreement with you about Anderson.

He is going to have a 'Nani' making good season next I feel.

Those 'barrelling' runs he makes are fantastic. He's the only central midfielder we have who can do that. I'm hoping for a big end of this season from him, never mind next season. We need a lift after Saturday. I hope he can help provide it.

He is at the level of an important squad player, but as a first choice midfielder he is not there yet. His main asset is offering something different, which can make him a useful impact sub. Gibson on the other hand doesn't add anything new to the midfield and his goal threat is overrated.

Loved the fight he brought when he came on and the way he went after Balotelli, great to see from a young Brazilian at the club, hopefully he gets a start tomorrow night.

Anderson will do a Nani next season imo.

Both though being latin understand what this club is about and will not leave unless they prove themselves imo.

Nah, Anderson has proven that he's not happy with sitting on the bench and will gladly look elsewhere for playing time if he has to. He only changed his mind the last time around because Fergie had a word with him.

I really hope he manages to consistently play like he did for a little over a month before Christmas. I love seeing him go on those blazing runs with the ball.

Hopefully he'll start tomorrow.

Yea obviously he isn't happy sitting on bench. No player is.

But he has always maintained he wants to succeed here.

His agent or him have not really ever seriously said they could consider playing elsewhere as far I recall.

Fergie confirmed that Anderson wanted to leave if I'm not mistaken.

He said he wanted to play and considered his future. I think your overrating the situation. It was probably more like:

Anderson - am i wanted here gaff?

SAF - Yes.

Fergie said:
...When he does understand that, he will be a fantastic player here but last season he was talking about leaving because he was not playing in every game.

A little from column A, little from column B I think.

Or more like

SAF: Who the feck do you think you are coming into my ofiice? Lose some weight and start playing;)

Reckon he's following Rooney's development. We always thought Rooney would be the most exciting striker in the world, but his development got overshadowed by other players as we worked on developing his all-round game and trying to make him more effective for the team.

He'll get there sooner or later, I have a feeling he would peak just in time to snatch a starting spot for Brazil in 2014 ;)

Carlos Alberto: Man Utd star Anderson can be best in world - if Fergie lets him

Brazilian legend Carlos Alberto is convinced Manchester United midfielder Anderson can be the world's best - if he is played to his strengths.

With United manager Sir Alex Ferguson hoping to rebuild his midfield as Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs near the end of their careers, Anderson is expected to live up to his price tag and early reputation.

Alberto is convinced he can do that – if United play to his strengths.

“In Brazil, we compared him to Ronaldinho because he is a very skilled player,” he told the Manchester Evening News. “But over here, he seems to be playing more defensively and this is not the best way for him to play.

“I hope they change their ideas and give him a free role. Then he can start to show just how good he is.

“He has shown at times how good he can be but if Sir Alex gives him freedom to play, he is going to show that he can be one of the best players in the world.

“Any good Brazilian player can play here or in any other country. They only need to have some time because when they come over here they change their style and the tactics.

“If they are given a chance to get used to it they will prove that they are good players.

“The example is Anderson. He came from Brazil and they changed his position. It takes time but they can prove that they can play here.”

I still think this lad can be a very very good midfielder. He would always get found out if we made him play to his strengths in the dimension we use. He wasn't that good to change our system for him. So what we did, imo, was helped him add a bit of defensive solidarity to his game. A more rounded midfielder now than he was back then. A season more and i actually think he'll be running games for us. He has it in his locker, i've always firmly believed that. He can pass the ball quite well, when on form. He can run with the ball better than most of our midfielders and thanks to the coaching, he can tackle and retrieve the ball if need be. A proper pre season, some confidence boosting games and watch him fly!.

I'd wage a lot on that!.

 Clique you are still at it with this lad.

But he deserves a fair shake next season. If he can stay fit and find form he has a good chance of finally making it.

I get what he's saying, but it doesn't add up. Asking Anderson to tackle or hold his position, doesn't in any way change his erractic passing or wayward shooting. I dont get this comparison with Ronaldinho at all. Goofy could do things with a ball that not many others could. Andersons strengths to me, seem to be his body strength and his pace, so i can see why SAF is trying to mould him into a CM where he can use his traits in making bursts foward from deep.

He's been good for us in CM and found a rich vein of form there during November-January this season but I agree with Alberto, he needs to be reinstated to the role he occupied at Porto and with the Brazilian youth side, the same role which convinced us to sign him.

We've introduced defensive discipline to his game well, this could make him a better all-round player as he matures, but to get the best out of him, we should utilise him in the same way we utilise Park...Higher up the pitch, joining the attack when he can but also using his energy and defensive qualities to press high up, especially on the very common deep-lying play makers we see in many teams now.

I've always rated him, his potential is huge, and when he's performing well we look a much better side for it. We just need to define his role within the team a bit better and IMO giving him a licence to express himself will see him and us reap the rewards. Every time he comes on, he injects the dynamism we so often lack from midfield, it'd be a waste if we continued to not harness the qualities he offers a lot better than we've managed so far.
