True, and thats the thing about Valencia: as long as he gets in so many quality balls and beats the defender, he can be as one dimensional as some say he is.
However, I noticed that he started to cut inside more often lately and providing good balls as well (Rooney's goal springs to mind)

Beckham was one dimensional and the greatest crosser of the ball, arguably, we've ever had. Nowt wrong with being one dimensional if you're good at it.

To be honest, you and Cantona07 are the only posters I can remember from the DS football forums as I did used to give the big United thread a look through. The general football forum was abit repetitive and it was always the same Liverpool and Arsenal fans on all the United related threads and the same WUMS.
OT but if they actually paid any fecking attention to the state of the pitches back then, it's immense to think how even better than he was, George Best could have been. Half the time they played in the mud, because they seemed incapable of growing grass for another 30 years.

Just wanted to say I'll try to have a statistics thread with posts for every player and United records (unbeaten runs etc.), if I have enough time to do it next season.
Great performance.
Why the Schalke manager didn't do something special to try and stop him is beyond me. It was obvious from the first minute that he was going rape their left back.
He only lacked that bit of sharpness where he'd cross much quicker like last season, seems to be eying for the pass and took too much time. Nevertheless, he brushes Fullbacks off with ease with his pace and power, great to watch, no tricks but just the directness and penetration. Loved it.
His discipline in tracking back was vital, keeping in mind United had a very well-balanced team. Still, his lack of final deliveries after arriving at promising positions was plain disappointing.
He was good, calm, composed and made the right decisions as he usually does. But bar a sublime cross in to Hernandez in the first half he wasn't that clinical, and his lack of a left foot made him a bit too predictable against the full back who kept making him cut inside and play a pass most of the time.
I've seen him play a lot better than that, against better teams. Not sure where all the praise is coming from tonight.
