Of course. It's not all about his size, it's about how he makes the most of his physique in physical battles.

Plus he mentioned that Cahill thing on twitter last night; saying how "stay on your feet" was going through his mind as he picked him up.

people have been saying he is one-dimesnsional and predictable for a whole now - but they still can't stop him

True, and thats the thing about Valencia: as long as he gets in so many quality balls and beats the defender, he can be as one dimensional as some say he is.

However, I noticed that he started to cut inside more often lately and providing good balls as well (Rooney's goal springs to mind)

It would have been more obvious had he been injured I think.
The goal he scored in the community shield is a good example of the movement he can make

Beckham was one dimensional and the greatest crosser of the ball, arguably, we've ever had. Nowt wrong with being one dimensional if you're good at it.

Aaron, are you the same Aaron G or PP who used to post on the digital spy football forums?

If you are not, you remind me of that poster alot.

yes, tis me. He was great wasn't he?

To be honest, you and Cantona07 are the only posters I can remember from the DS football forums as I did used to give the big United thread a look through. The general football forum was abit repetitive and it was always the same Liverpool and Arsenal fans on all the United related threads and the same WUMS.

Never posted there in the football forums.

He could pass and cross. He couldn't take people on, wasn't particularly fast, didn't have a left foot and wasn't the greatest in the air.

Stop quoting George Best :p

Stop quoting George Best :p

Yeah, the funny thing is when I was at the age I was then, I was a huge Beckham fan and those comments actually got me quite annoyed, as it goes.

I am still a huge Beckham fan, but you see what I mean.

what bestie meant was *compared to him :)

OT but if they actually paid any fecking attention to the state of the pitches back then, it's immense to think how even better than he was, George Best could have been. Half the time they played in the mud, because they seemed incapable of growing grass for another 30 years.

It annoyed me too, they're too some extent correct but that was Beckham's night and Best shouldn't have said these things at that moment actually.

I haven't seen him play but based on what I've read and seen on youtube, 99% of the players when compared to him will look pedestrians.

Just wanted to say I'll try to have a statistics thread with posts for every player and United records (unbeaten runs etc.), if I have enough time to do it next season.

I did how it may look with Tony V.

Great performance.
Why the Schalke manager didn't do something special to try and stop him is beyond me. It was obvious from the first minute that he was going rape their left back.

Yes he was.

He was good, calm, composed and made the right decisions as he usually does. But bar a sublime cross in to Hernandez in the first half he wasn't that clinical, and his lack of a left foot made him a bit too predictable against the full back who kept making him cut inside and play a pass most of the time.

I've seen him play a lot better than that, against better teams. Not sure where all the praise is coming from tonight.
