I think you are confusing yourself.

No I'm not, I'm stating facts here that during Liverpool's and our own dominance of the league, both teams have won the league more times than they have won the FA Cup. I'm not buying this not trying to win it bullshit, prioritising on the league etc. We put out a decent team against City, SAF wanted to win the cup, but we fell short again. The FA Cup is more difficult to win than the league for a quality team due to its structure. You can lose a game in the league and you drop 3 points, and then win the rest of the games, league in the bag. You lose in the FA Cup, you're out of it.

:D I gathered from the effing middle name you were not his biggest fan

a lot on here do call him that though - I haven't made notes on whom, specifically but perhaps from here on he should be known as "sour faced twat"

I ll second that. feckin hated him as a player and nothing has ever changed that as a manager.

As of Nov. '86

MUFC
7 Leagues, 1 European Cup, 6 FA Cups
LFC
16, 4, 3

As of May '11

MUFC
19, 3 (very close to 4), 11
LFC
18, 5, 7

So, of course, it's F*ck off, Fergie!

we have had a few bad games this season , but still in the Final.
I will agree it is easier to win a Knockout Tournament , than the PL

I don't consider the CL to be a tournament. It's a bizarre combination created to squeeze maximum dollars out. Something you kids always accuse us Americans of doing.

The discussion was about was it harder to win the FA Cup than Prem title.

Point stands. Harder to win a tournament.

Liverpool got knocked out of this year's FA Cup by Northampton when they played a bunch of reserves and rested their big players. It's happened to us on more than one occasion, too.

But, no, regardless of the fact that big teams only really treat it with utmost seriousness in its latter stages, it's harder to win than the league coz some muppet on Redcafe says so.

Sorry my bad! The point still stands, though. If we hadn't played Liverpool we'd have played a lot of squad players.

Similar to when we play a lower team in the league? You play a team to win a match, a team capable enough to win that match, you play what is in front of you. You're an arsehole! Which knobchop promoted you?

I'm hating that this thread has become a general a liverpool reference thread. Need this sorted for 2011/2012.

They've put up their banner in the Barca end apparently. So very, very small time.

So what? It speaks volumes that the highlight of their season was watching us lose to the greatest team on the planet.

We won number 19 and are the most successful team in England. They don't even have a CL or even Europa league to look forward to next year, let them have their petty satisfaction.

Well said. A disappointing result but a great season for United nevertheless. Our rivals may take petty pleasure in our loss tonight but they would much rather be in our shoes with another Premier League title under our belts, 3rd Champions League final in four years and above all, the the greatest manager in world football at the helm.

I just pity other fans who take glory in watching us lose as if it's a moral victory for their own teams. I would rather be in our position with a young promising team who will be up their again next year fighting for all 4 trophies than any of our rivals.

Liverpool are struggling to reach 4th place, Haven't won the league in 20 odd years, won't be playing in the CL next season.

Chelsea continue to sack every manager who doesn't win the CL disrupting the team each year.

Arsenal can't mount a proper title challenge.

I know where I'd rather be. I think Weaste emphasised that it's got so bad for Liverpool that people don't even bother laughing at them any more because we've just got used to it. Well if people are laughing at us now, we are either doing something right or people are still highly envious of us otherwise they wouldn't care.

You can't expect them not to enjoy this. Us failing to pick up our second trophy of the season is literally as good as it gets for that club these days.

Why LFC will always always sit above that shite.

The above thread is priceless. None of it has any logic to it whatsoever and they all suck it up. Still, apparently they're now happy to win nothing, which is great for King Kenny.

So it's 5 > 3 on European Cups and 1 > 0 in terms of European bans deriving from disgraceful behaviour described as "the darkest hour in the history of the European competitions". Those two extra trophies will never be worth the shame of those deaths.

At least we're in the CL again next year.

They're not even in Europe are they?

If that doesn't typify what a small team they've become, I don't know what does. Still clutching at straws that they've won more european cups than us and celebrating our losing in place of having anything to celebrate with their own team. It's quite sad really considering how good they once were.

Success by association; it's the best they can hope for.

Really would love to see us face Barcelona at some point during this renaissance. I'm not saying we would win, but it would be fascinating to see how we would face up to them. The 2007 side weren't anywhere near as good as these guys but still a fantastic team which we beat 2-1 in the Nou Camp and dominated for large periods at Anfield. I wonder if we could find a way to match up to them like we did then....

Look out, Barca! (in 5-7 years)

But as for The Tramp down the road... I absolutely hate the aul bastard. To me he is the anti-Shankly. But not only was he made for Manchester and them for him, he was made for them at this exact time.

Graceless, humourless, egotistical, nasty, greedy arl bastard, to me, he's pretty much the figure head of all what's wrong with the game and a lot of shite things in society in general... Phoney, champagne socialist, knight of the realm, bully bastard, ruling by fear. He's everything I can't stand about what we've got now. That might seem mental, but, to me anyway, he's the perfect symbol of how things have gone over the last 20 years of Me, Me, Me. All hype, no reality to the image, wrapped up in hypocrisy and greed, with no concern for feck all but himself.

But sticking to football and them and him in particular, he built that club in his own image. And I think that just proves me point. He's made no plans or strategy for when he retires or takes the knock. There's no boot room. There's been no one trained to follow in his footsteps. In fact, every one of his possible successors have been sacked or they've moved rather than stay working with the arl shite.

And, as I love to point out, despite all he's done for them, his own fans have never even made a song up for the fella. In fact, except for Gary Neville, I've never seen any genuine affection for the man. And as for the media kissing up to him, well, we all know what a disgrace that shower are. But they aren't as stupid as a lot of us like to think they are. Plenty of them know how vile a human being that fella truly is. They'll turn on him like a pack of Wolves when they sense the time is right.

And I don't even believe that some of them ex Manc players, that rave about him in front of a camera, don't hate the man on the sly. But like all the other greedy bastards, they're not going to upset the gravy boat.

Sadly though, over the last couple of seasons, our ex-players seen a better pay day for themselves in slatting the club and our last manager. But I even know Man Utd fans who can't stand Slur Fergus. They love the success, but they can't bare the man who brought them it. And that's a facht, as they love to say down the road there.

But just think back to the amount of people who wanted Maureen to be our boss before Rafa was sacked, and, no doubt, some would still take him even now. Worse... how many people turned on Rafa, called for Hodge Podge, as directed by the media, and then turned on him as soon as he lost a few of games?
Sadly mate, as you well know, that's just the way it is nowadays. Hate going on a holier than thou rant. But fact is, loyalty and tradition only lasts from win to win for an awful lot of people nowadays.

I get accused of some sort of heracy by loads of people, on here and out in the real world, because I refuse to slag Rafa. I won't have it, even though it's not really about Rafa. I was raised the Liverpool Way. I still believe in them traditions. But, even if I hadn't been instilled with them old ways, I'd have still never believed that I'd see our own turn on our own manager... especially after he'd given them 2 European Cup finals, an FA Cup and constant improvement after one bad season, especially when he was fighting all hands on our behalf and the club was in such turmoil.

But I still hope them traditions of following Liverpool are ingrained so deeply that they'll stop us plunging the depths we've seen elsewhere, but it's not the easiest thing to hang on to, mate. Let's face it, there's been plenty to shake that belief lately... booing a draw that took us to the top of the league, booing and slatting our own players, itching to get on the internet or the phone ins to slag off our own at each set back, local youngsters, the next backbone of The Kop, being priced out, FSG planning to chase and exploit every dollar. And you know it will only get worse if and when we get back on our perch.

I could go on, but I don't want to just moan for the sake of it. I'm not a whinger anyway. And when I get pissed off with things, I just remind meself of how many good people set about helping the club in any way they could when the other pair of pricks near done for us. I never went to a single game this season. I refused to go under Purslow/Hodgson. Then I just didn't seem get round to it, but I'm hoping the feeling will be back next season. I miss seeing me aul mates. And even though their numbers are dwindling every season, I doubt I'd ever stop going completely while me legs will get me there.

 At the end he sounds like one of the last survivors of the Somme, not some fat, jobless, lazy bin-dipper.

The post starts with a rant about how he hates SAF then decends into how great a supporter of Liverpool he his before admitting that he didn't get off his arse and watch his team this season as he couldn't bring himself to support Hodgson before finally deciding he couldn't be bothered.

:wenger:

I swear I could hear the piano intro to 'You'll Never Walk Alone' as I read that post. :D

Weaste, argue against me all you want, but stop with the personal insults. It's a small world.

I'm not arguing, I'm talking to a brick wall. Sorry to have upset you, but you're ignoring all the facts placed under your nose. SAF has won 12 league titles, 5 FA Cups, and 2 Champions Leagues. It should be as clear as the light on a bright summer's day as to what that says. Bob Paisley won 6 league titles, 1 FA Cup, and 3 European Cups. It's not debatable, there is no argument! The FA Cup is harder to win due to its 1 leg structure throughout. You feck up one match, and you're out, no chance of recovery!
