I won't be surprised that Berba will be sold and replaced by Young who may not be as talented as him but he's faster, younger and more versatile.

if we sell berba, then we need to sign a striker as a replacement.
i know young can operate as a second striker but we need someone who can get us the 15-20 goals that berba would score..
He wouldn't get us those goals, that's for sure.
But you know, I still think there is something a tad misleading about Berbatov's goals last year. Not taking anything away from him, as he did score them, but a lot were quite concentrated over a few matches. In three games he scored half his league total.
Now, at the end of the day, on the stats it doesn't really matter, but I'd have liked to have seen the goals more spread in the season.
Be odd to sell a striker and replace him with a winger, wouldn't it?
That is a myth
Berba scored his in 11 games
Tevez over 12 games and that includes penalties. 10 games without them.
Berba has also scored the most winners than any other striker in the league
There's a link for every stat

I hope not. I don't dislike Young but what will he bring to the team that we haven't already got?
A player named Ashley.
Why not buy Cole then?
I only like one Cole, and her name is not Ashley.![]()

You don't like Andrew?
Didn't Young spend most of last season playing in the hole?
veron came on tour of america too..only to be sold two weeks later.

He looked amazing on that tour too. I know they were only friendlies. But it almost made me not want us to sell him. But then after about a month into his Chelsea stint I was relieved we did
Bah, I expected it to be philosophy or literature.
Berbatov still awaiting United offer
June 18, 2011
Dimitar Berbatov has not yet been offered a contract extension but remains eager to remain at Manchester United, according to his agent.
Berbatov, 30, has a year remaining on his contract and, after his surprise omission from the Champions League final squad, serious doubts over his future at Old Trafford have been raised in the English press.
However, he has already underlined his desire to stay and, though the club have yet to make contact over a new deal, agent Emil Dantchev remains hopeful that his client will remain a Manchester United player.
"There is no news because we have not heard anything from anyone," Dantchev told Goal.com. "After we speak to Manchester United, we will know more, but now he is very happy to be a Manchester United player.
"Many clubs would be interested in Dimitar but he wants to stay in Manchester and win more trophies. He has a contract and he is not paying attention to the British media."

He has only 1 year left on his contract, he wants to stay and is ready to discuss about extending his stay at United, so why doesn't the club give clarity over his future?
After all the humiliation he endured (yet still so loyal and never hits out at the club nor the manager), the least the club can do is to show a bit of respect.
If we sign Sanchez, and Berba leaves, you will have got this spot on.I won't be surprised that Berba will be sold and replaced by Young who may not be as talented as him but he's faster, younger and more versatile.
Or maybe we simply dont mind letting him run down his contract. Because if we succeed in recruiting Sanchez, added to singing Young, and Welbeck's return he'd be well replaced in the long term and we don't lose anything by keeping him around for one more year.United might see him surplus to requirements - might want to get some money back whilst he has value - or he's asking for too much money and a contract United are not prepared to give. Berbatov has an ace up his sleeve, where he can run the contract down, and move for free. Likely scenario is United will try and sell to extract value, or will have to come to a compromise in contract negotiations.
Stating the obvious really.
We'd lose a lot of money from him leaving on a free as opposed to getting £10m+ for him now.Or maybe we simply dont mind letting him run down his contract. The thing is we will need him for this season, yet most likely not further beyond that. Yet from the end of next season he will fetch us very little in the market if we extend his deal. We'd lose a lot of money from him leaving on a free as opposed to getting £10m+ for him now.
I think we should use him in any deal to sign Modric.
One thing is for certain. If Berbatov is playing for a new contract he will have his best year. Is it true United had an option to extend his contract for a further year - or did I imagine that?
