Poch has done really well and I've always thought of him as a top manager. Not that I agree that Poch is a way better manager than Ole but the board could have been more careful. Most of the decisions They've made post-Fergie were wrongly timed.Poch is obviously a far better manager than Ole at this stage. No one in world football would suggest otherwise other than a few deluded United fans. But we have made our bed with Ole and now we'll have to lie in it.
The amount of shite you write in this thread is unparalleled...It is best to close all Spurs thread on redcafe for the time being because there will be a lot of gloating. Pochettino with this win has surpassed Guardiola has one of the best manager in current football.
He's the United manger actually. We were also once stuck with the Aberdeen manager and that turned out alright.Congrats to him. Incredible achievement. With a bit of luck but you have to have that.
And we're stuck with a Molde manager..
He won't leave Tottenham in the summer, no club will pay out his contract to negotiate. The following summer however, depending on how the new appointments do at United, Madrid, maybe even Bayern, could be a different story.Pochettino is a good manager, its only a matter of time before the bigger clubs come calling for him. And tbf to him he deserves the chance to consistently compete for the biggest trophies.

Really? Already the ravening hordes are spitting their dummies out and that's even before Ole has had even one transfer window.
Should we compare Ole after 5 seasons to what pooch has achieved now? After all, that would only be fair, wouldn't it?
Ole til 2020 and then Poch sounds pretty good to me.Yes it seems very likely that the summer of 2020 will be the time for him to think about going somewhere. A bit like Klopp at Dortmund, he spent an extra year there after winning CL before he went.
Eventually he will have to leave to go to a club with resources to be at this level consistently. Spurs are a wonderful story this year but realistically he will not be able to build a team there to compete for a league title and make runs in Europe.
He will 100% not leave this Summer though.

it wasn’t this season and Manchester City is a better team now then they were then. Yes, if I was a spurs fan I would be in the Spurs thread jumping for joy, but I m in the pochettino thread

Yeah, I agree with the sentiment of this (if not the hyperbole). They created virtually nothing afterwards and conceded a fair bit. Pretending the ball cannoning in off a hip made this decision the right one is asinine. There's no way Poch would repeat that if he had his time again. The Llorente-Sissoko sub was one of the worst decisions i've seen from any coach, ever. I'm that serious about it.
They were creating chances and playing well. By putting Alli in midfield, they instantly became vulnerable, Son had to play much further from goal by going to wing, thus losing their main attacking threat, and Llorente couldn't control any hoof ball, putting them against the walls. They lost their attack, midfield and thus defense in 1 substitution. Awful, awful.
Spurs now have a bigger income than Juve. In a year or two our income will exceed that of Arsenal and roughly match or exceed that of Chelsea.
People under-estimate where Spurs are at and where they're heading. Pochettino doesn't.
I'd take him in a heartbeat. Love the way his team plays. Man has a set of fecking balls.
Any idea how much you guys are earning with this year's CL run? Ajax gets around 100 million euro including stuff like ticket sales, which is a nice bonus for them because they've pretty much calculated their budget and spending last year on qualifying for the group phase of the Europa League instead.
Not spending any money last summer and a nice unexpected CL bonus of at least 50 million and maybe double now, you might actually have the money to do the transfer business you were already planning to do in the 2019 summer window, and bring back a player like Bale on top of that.

If he loses to Ajax, meaning another semi-final loss, will people start turning on him again calling him Loser Poch, BottlejobPoch again?
beating city is great, especially without Kane, and hardly spending much over the year, but at the same time, you could look at it and say they drew the tie (and were moments away from going out).
I actually like Poch and the job hes done at Spurs. But now hes got a great chance to make a final and then its a one off game.
Most probably they won't because Poch is quite popular these days but if something of a sort happened to a Man Utd manager, he would be absolutely loathed by significant part of fan base.
Why is Son out?Anybody who loathes their manager for getting knocked out in a CL semi final (unless it's a bit embarrassing, I can kinda understand United fans being unhappy with the Barca loss because you got played with) is an idiot.
The problem with the Ajax tie is injuries and suspensions, with Son out first leg and Kane injured we will struggle to score goals. Add that to our midfield woes and we could struggle against an Ajax side who have nothing to lose.

Man City with their best player plagued with injury, a lower points total in the league and losing to Spurs in the quarters of the CL (a Spurs team decimated by injuries) is better than last season.![]()

I thought yellow cards reset for the semi finals. That sucks having him out alright.Suspended for yellow card accumulation.
Stupid fecking rule.
They reset for semifinals in sense that you start them with 0 to your name.I thought yellow cards reset for the semi finals. That sucks having him out alright.

This is the first time Spurs have reached the semi-finals of the Champions League in our history. I don't think anybody would be thinking 'bottle job' if we don't reach the final - as disappointing as that would be now. It's still been a superb achievement to get to the semi's.
In science when you want to compare two things, you have to adjust for confounding factors that might bias the results.
After adjusting for confounders, in this case for Spurs it's the lack of investment compared to their immediate rivals, you can potentially argue that Poch is one of, if not the best manager in recent years. I think he is as good as Pep, and better than Klopp.

Oh, you mean the guy that beat Real Madrid in the Cup Winners Cup final and won the European Super Cup and won the Scottish title 3x and the Scottish Cup 4x and Scottish League with a team that wasn't Celtic nor Rangers. Ole's got a lot more to prove unfortunately.

People tend to overlook Fergie's achievements in Scotland. Going toe-to-toe with the 'Old Firm' and taking the title to Pittodrie, not once but three times, was remarkable for the time.
No shame in losing to Ajax, in fact I would favor them passing the round. Ajax - Liverpool is my final prediction.
We are the better team and should progress, I firmly believe that.
However, it's knockout football, we're not as good as City yet here we are. And injuries could have an impact.
Don't know about that, Ajax have bettered Bayern, Real and Juve I think they're going to the final this year.
When did they better Bayern? They drew both games .. and Bayern aren't good this year.
Madrid and Juve, sure. Although Madrid are tragic this season.
Juventus are their biggest scalp by far imo, I was honestly really surprised/impressed with the way in which they took them apart in that second leg. They're clearly a dangerous side but Juve were utterly pathetic in that second game.
With a fully fit side I'd be very confident of beating Ajax over two legs, but alas that isn't the case and they have a fantastic chance of getting to a final.
Also, we took Dortmund apart 4-0 over two legs and knocked out the best team in England, so it's not like we don't have feats of our own in the CL this season. Man City are 100% better than Juventus, Madrid or Bayern.
