Aaron Ramsey

That's because Wenger chose to go with 2 DMs in Arteta and Flamini, which meant Ramsey had to be put out wide.

Have we missed a trick here? from what I saw the Lad looks like the real deal, got a feeling we might be kicking ourselves in a couple of years time.

Definitely.

This guy absolutely would've been the answer to our midfield woes. Who would've thought that out of all the players we missed out on, and the following meltdowns, that he could turn out to be the one we regret the most?

Ramsey AND Bale in our team  would have been mindblowing!

(disclaimer: obviously there's no guarantee either would have progressed this way).

I'm pretty sure Bale would've progressed the same way, even though he wouldn't have been given the same importance as at Spurs last year when he was the focal point of everything. Ramsay I'm not sure though.

It depends really, he might not be the same goal threat (He'd probably be partnering Carrick so, yeah) but without the injuries he was always going to become a good player

If we had him, it could have solved a few problems in the midfield to be honest. As one poster said, Ramsey alongside Carrick would be doubly great. In the end, we have to stick with Fellaini and Cleverley (who has not really made any progress) who are the weak links in the midfield, so much so that they might as well not play them in the first place. No, I think Ramsey, with a great deal of healthcare for his injury would have made it here easily, I mean, Cleverley, Fellaini and Anderson just do not inspire me as much. Say that players change teams, for me, Sakho has beefed up the Liverpool defence so, they can continue to score at will yet remain solid at the back, hence the reason why they look a strong team this year. Secondly, since Ramsey has come back, he has done an incredible amount of work and has scored some great goals, and has given Arsenal a new lease of life. Ramsey has progressed ever since that terrible injury whereas the worrying thing is that Wilshere has regressed.

Several levels of bizarre in that near incomprehensible post, but the last line takes the cake.

Funny thing is, you contribution accounts to criticising a post without explaining why. Explain to me why the post is bizarre, convince me that Cleverley is miles better than Ramsey, convince me having Ramsey with Carrick would be a bad idea, convince me that Wilshere hasn't regressed since his injury. If you cannot convince me otherwise then please jog on because your contribution means absolutely feck all.

I'm not exactly sure why you responded that way. I disagree with his last statement too, but at least have some dignity.

Pre-injury, Ramsey was looking like a top, top talent. His performances in 09/10 were very good for a young player, but the injury against Stoke stalled his progressed badly. He had many issues and it took him until the second half of last season to perform very well regularly.

Wilshere hasn't regressed, he just hasn't gained any momentum because of injuries. He still has all the qualities; the technique, the dribbling, the passing, the demeanour, the vision, that he had at the beginning. You can already see him starting to hit his stride now.

Exactly. If there is one thing I hate most, and that is someone who mopes around thinking that their career is over because of a bad injury. The way Ramsey has come back, the way he has taken his game by the scruff of the neck is an incredible story and just goes to show that with motivation and hunger, you can get to where you want to be and Ramsey is pretty much there. I think Anderson should perhaps take a leaf out of Ramseys book, because he needs to or even Cleverley. As Manchester United supporters, we cite the fact that our players are often injured and thus have lost a yard of pace or cannot get enough games because of one thing or another, but they are simply excuses for not trying hard enough. I dislike Arsenal, but well done to Ramsey for getting back after his horrific injury.

That was my fault Archie, I forgot to mention the reason as to why he has regressed this season. He needs a period of rest to get back to full fitness. Though, why that idiot decided to rant over a post, I can see why, but constructive criticism isn't his forte either.

He just never stops scoring. Major contender for the player of the year already.....The reason why he signed for Arsenal was because Wenger met him in person.....Fergie couldn't meet him as he was on holiday...you'd have to think Fergie should had had the boy flown out to wherever he was on holiday to seal the deal.....As the rumours at the time were that we were the hot favorites to get him until Wenger met him in person at the last minute

Yeah Fergie was shit

Didn't Ramsey come out and say he felt he could achieve first team status at Arsenal before United, and thus made his decision?

Sort of, United's plan was to buy him and then loan him back. Arsenal said he could train with the first team/reserves and that's why he chose Arsenal.

To think that we came close to signing both Ramsey and bale is insane.

So? That was in 2008. Ramsey has not done much in 5 years. He had that injury that nobody ever stops talking about. First player to ever have a broken leg apparently.

True but most players would say that anyway after they had signed for a new club. All the papers at the time were saying it was a done deal to us and all he needed to do was meet with Gill....and Wenger seemed to intervene at the last minute where Ramsey said that the fact that Wenger met him in person made all the difference.....but you win some...you lose some....Powell looks a great prospect

I wonder how he'd have fit in at united. The thought of him spending years trying to master playing in a 2 man midfield seems like such a a waste of his abilities. Probably made a good decision keeping that in mind.

If Ramsey keeps going the way he is going then he will walk the player of the year award unless Aguero or something scores insane amounts of goals....

That would be 2 different young Welsh players winning the player of the year in consecutive years......Not bad for a small country

I remember reading that Wenger went and picked Ramsey in a helicopter (no grooming jokes), took him to The Emirates and told him that he would get more opportunities at Le Arse etc. We had G Nev show him round Carrington whilst Fergie was on holiday. It was just after we won the Champions League so I think that we were caught feeling a little complacent.

The benefit of hindsight is a wonderful thing. Ramsey was bought by Wenger for his potential, no manager knows for sure if player A will fullfil that potential or not. I see little point in crying over a prospect that we missed out on because there are a great many that we have missed out on, just like Wenger missed out on Zlatan to name but one.

Clubs miss out on players all the time, and there's no guarantee that Ramsey would have developed here like he has at Arsenal. Win some, lose some. Arsenal were very close to signing Ronaldo before Queiroz stepped in.

We got Smalling from under their noses and they were in for Jones. It happens all the time. Win some and lose some.

In reality we had perhaps an even more perfect midfielder with us. We should really be talking about that Blackburn game and Pogba. I don't think its gotten enough airing. White text.

What is the goal scoring record for a CM in the top leagues?

At that rate Ramsey could break it. He's already on 13 goals and it's still November. Surely, he could reach 25 goals which would be pretty amaizing.

He didn't miss out on Zlatan. Zlatan doesn't do auditions.
