He's not very good going forward or defensively. He improved 2nd half but still looks like a bad buy.
Nah he was, me and the lads around me in the ground were all saying we were rather surprised by his performance. I'd say you're just looking for criticism because we a) expect it and b) it's an easy target.
You can tell he is working hard and wants to stay at the club. He has to prove himself for sure, but he needs a good run of games for that. Good game today, ran his socks off.
Whether he's good enough for us or not is of course very debatable... and from what I've seen so far from him I'd say probably not, and because that seems to be the general consensus, he's a very easy target for criticism. Credit where it's due today, he worked really hard, put himself about (he made more tackles then anyone on the pitch according to WhoScored) and generally had a decent game.
Look defensively today he was much better than before but whilst you say Nani and Kagawa were guilty of making wrong decisions today, they made a lot more better decisions and overall we know they can produce better and will do.
But you would have to say that going forward is Buttners best attribute, but I still don't think it's good enough for us. You're right in what you're saying, he will always come in for criticism but if he plays exceptionally well then I'll give him the credit he deserves. Sadly, I just don't see that happening. Can you honestly tell me he should be a united player?
...I've answered your question in the post you quoted?
So he's not really that shit is he?Are you saying we should give him a run of games even though he clearly isnt good enough atm? When he's played, he's been poor defensively. Unless he improves, we cant keep playing him just because games might improve his defensive game. That needs to come either via training or through a loan move. As things stand, I wouldnt even trust him as cover for Evra.
Good, the quicker we do away with left sided right foot players the better. Our system is a trident style system and the right footers on the left just completely unbalance it. It's a case of O'Shea on the right being a left footer all over again in these cases.I really can't understand why did we stick with him being Evra's backup this year, when it's clear he is nowhere near good enough, even for backup. Fabio is much better option IMO, but it looks like Moyes isn't fan of a) Fabio, or b) right footed leftback.
Denis Irwin proved that theory wrong.
Denis Irwin proved that theory wrong.
In his defence he plays one in ten games so it's going to be difficult to perform. But what makes it doubly difficult is the fact that he's utter fecking shite.
He seems a nice lad, so when we inevitably sell him for a small fee to some average European club I'll wish him all the best. But to me he's like de Laet: utterly out of his depth at this level.
He did do well - for him. However, he wasn't really tested, Henderson was awful and he had Toure at RB who didn't offer much. He did his job well, better than I thought and showed definite signs of improvement. Still way behind Fabio though in my opinion.Reports are that he did well this morning?

When you compare it to his match against us at Anfield, it's really pathetic. He can manage to run so hard, put the effort in at Anfield when the crowd is behind him. At Old Trafford, he wants nothing to do with it, so in my eyes, he was awful.'Was'.Fair play, I'll come back when I've seen the match. But It's as though he's some pub player who's never played in his life in here sometimes.
I don't know if it was entirely his fault, but most of their attack came through his side. So not sure if he really did have a good game.
He isn't, and never will be good enough for United.
I thought he did ok. A bit ropy at times but lots of good stuff to.
For some reason I really like him. Very fearless, whole-hearted sort of player. Has a peach of a cross on him too, just a pity he never got to use it.
He's a terrific runner with and without the ball. His left foot is quite good, and he also dribbles quite well. His defending is shambolic at times, but he saves himself with energy and pace a couple of times. I really see no reason to play him ahead of Fabio though - I was surprised (well not really) and disappointed that Büttner was chosen over Fabio!
I doubt that, Evra will play both games and there's no way Fabio will be starting at right back now Rafael, Smalling and Jones are all fit. I think he's out of contract this summer, and I'd be very surprised if he signs a new one, the boy needs to go and play some football. He's started 1/8 games this season, and that's with Rafael being injured.Fabio's had a game this season, Buttner hasn't - so it makes sense from that perspective. I also imagine Fabio will be starting either this weekend or away in Donetsk... which are arguably two more important games.
Haven't watched Fabio enough at LB to be sure. On the assumption that he just needs games to be as good as twin then we'd be mad not to try and get the best out of him. Mind you, I know it's possible to have "wrong-footed" fullbacks but it's not ideal.
Do you think that all players should be given game time no matter? I understand your argument - just asking if you agree with it? I just see Fabio as a much greater talent than Büttner can ever dream of; sure Büttner has heart and determination, but ultimately he lacks finesse, positioning and defensive brains. It's easy to see that he's a winger playing as a fullback (as was Evra...). I do hope that we can see both twins at the pitch at the same time more often. Evra should get more rest than he has in the past.Fabio's had a game this season, Buttner hasn't - so it makes sense from that perspective. I can't understand this criticism - he was no worse than anyone else on the pitch yesterday. He did well - his problem is that we have possibly the 2 best offensive fullbacks in the league (1-2 are up there with them) - and he isn't quite their quality. Still doesn't make him a bad player
