Forget Robben. Lahm is a big danger. In the first leg against Arsenal he was a constant threat.

Whoever is on the left needs to protect Buttner. I'm guessing it will be Welbeck.

P.S Those of you wishing for Büttner to start on Tuesday are masochistic fücks.

Mark Fücking Albrighton mugged him off yesterday. A guy who was thrown out of Villa Park recently on loan as he wasn't up to standard.

It'll be a massacre against Bayern if Lahm/Rafinha and Robben are in the groove.

Nobody 'wishes' him to play there, who else would you play? We'll get murdered on either wing so I can't really understand the singling out of Büttner. If Rafael is fit then he'll get murdered by either Robben or Ribery. Don't forget that we're as well short on defenders.

Wishing?

Who else do you start? Before you start calling people fecks. Aren't you the guy who was saying play Giggs left back?

“I have never played against him before and I haven’t watched videos or anything like that to study him but I know enough from what I have seen to know how he plays the game."

Know thy enemy and know yourself; in a hundred battles, you will never be defeated...

[Disaster waiting to happen]

Worst case scenario he has a 'mare, which some are half expecting anyway. All he can do is his best, I'm sure he'll be eager to put in a performance, he is a limited football player though.

Cannot be serious. Albrighton assassinated him, beating him and getting the ball in any time he wanted to. Made him look like a world class winger

You're thinking about Fellaini. He switched to the left and Albrighton ate him alive when he provided cover. Buttner had one of his most solid displays in a red shirt

Between him, Fellaini (if he plays), Vidic (if he plays), and an isolated and frustrated Rooney, I'm worried about our discipline tomorrow. The last thing we need is an early red card.

Fellaini wasn't playing left back. Thats about as far from solid as you'll see from a premier league fullback

No one's 'wishing' to play him. and how're they masochistic fücks for wanting a player to play in his natural position when in reality we don't have any other options? I doubt anyone is 'glad' at the prospect of seeing him against Robben but we don't have any other choice unless we bring back Irwin. Not sure if its wrong selection of words or lack of basic football knowledge. Maybe even both.

He was playing on the left of midfield. I never said he played as LB. I have the game recorded, its still on my DVR. Albrighton skinned Fellaini at least twice while he was back defending that channel. Here's a description from a live text while the game was on 'Albrighton, bombing down the inside right, is allowed to make his way across the face of the United box, then down the inside left to the byline, before chipping to the far post where Weimann can't retain possession. That was a magnificent dribble, though it should also be noted that the red carpet was rolled out: Fellaini's attempt to dispossess him was limp as you like. From the daily mail

Buttner wasn't as bad as you think. He barely did a thing wrong. I don't even rate the guy.

11 crosses the majority from Buttner's flank. Flew past him at least twice I can remember, on top of forcing those crosses past Buttner. He was bad

He is still trying that stupid move where he rolls the ball under his studs and goes nowhere. I honestly can't think of any reason why he does that other than that he thinks he looks 'cool' doing it.

I've never understood its point either, a player forcing his dribble is an ugly thing to watch

Am I the only one on here, who thinks that Buttner will do a better job against Bayern than Evra would? The key thing is who plays as a left winger. I believe it will be Welbeck, which makes me feel more or less confident about our left flank. I am so much more worried about our center, as I don't think Fellaini will be able to provide a decent cover for the back 4. He is too slow for this game.

However shit he might be, we have no other option but to play him there. Let's hope he does well.

We could have Buttner left back and Valencia in front of him to help defend. What a wing that would be

Your memory has let you down. I didn't see that. This is how squaka narrowed his performance down 'Not bad. Won two out of three tackles, both aerial duels contested and completed two out of three of his crossing attempts.

He didnt have much to do in all honesty. Far from bad, very far from it. Even the commentator said he did he good job.

Furthermore, here's the sum up of Albrightons game Completed three crosses and won four tackles from seven attempts, but failed to beat his man from three attempts.

We must first teach Valencia how to use that redundant body part of his known as left foot

Very, very well done today. Kept Robben quiet.

Can be very very proud of himself today. Paddy back for the second leg will be a boost though.

I'm not sure it will. I think he's had an awful season defensively and has been a liability at the back. Him going forward in the 2nd leg will only open up space that Bayern will exploit.

Very good defensive performance. Shows that there is perhaps a defender in there somewhere.

He played well. I thought he was decent against West Ham and not as bad as made out against Villa as well.

I'd have Evra straight back in the side for the second leg though. Buttner's cover, not first choice.

Credit where it's due, despite being nervous he didn't let it get the better of him.

The best performance by an United left back(or even perhaps full back?) of the season, today.

Deserves to keep his place IMO.

Excellent performance, deserves to play a bit more regularly on the back of that.

Deserves to start now after that. Delighted he's proved many wrong, some of the shit spouted about him before the game was sad. He's shown great character.

Finally the performance we've been needing from since his debut. Did he get injured? I must have missed it.

If Evra played, we probably would have suffered more defensively. Solid performance from Buttner tonight.
