He did excellent at Brescia I think before, playing a 4-2-4. Juve also weren't doing great before he came in and gave them structure. Apparently he was an excellent motivator. A load of diva's at Chelsea is different though. He was a legend at Juve and the dressing room leaders like Buffon, Marchisio, Pirlo and Chiellini already highly respected him.Am I the only one who thinks he's got a lot to prove? Did well at Juve but very little competition when he was there due. Or was he so good and that's why there wasn't any competition?
Hope he plays the 3-5-2. Maybe we'll see some success with it after Vangles and Bob Mancs tarnishing of its reputation.
Yeah very true. Mancini tried it in the 12/13 season and Rodgers tried it at Liverpool for a while to get Suarez and Sturridge playing together up front. We all know about Van Gaal's attempts to play 3-5-2 as well. It never ended well and usually leads to a lot of square pegs in round holes.
3-5-2 only works if you have specialists in every position. Like most formations. Juve were/are suited to a 3-5-2 as they have 3 of the best centre backs around, all of whom are excellent on the ball (particularly Bonucci) and Asamoah and Lichsteiner are very much suited to play as wing backs. At the moment, Conte often plays 4 at the back with Italy, with Darmian and De Sciglio as full backs. Regardless, Chelsea have no players that are suited to playing as wing backs, except maybe Willian, and none of their CB's are very good on the ball.
