To be fair, Tony Valencia is an absolute fecking tank.

lol I got to give it to RioFerdy5. No wonder Tony V. rapes and eats left backs for fun.

SAF: He's making the progress exactly the way we thought," Ferguson said. "It's looking like the end of February or beginning of March.

"He should be back training in five to six weeks time, but given the extent of the injury we'll give him more time to get into the full flow of things."

With Ferguson unlikely to add to his squad in January, the return of Valencia could provide United with a timely boost as they look to consolidate a challenge on three fronts, with the club facing crunch matches against Chelsea, Liverpool and Marseille at the beginning of March.

Great news, could very well be back for the Pool and Chelsea matches in March.

I saw Valencia in the gym today...the guy throws the wieghts around like how I threw @RobbieSavage8 about! #strongestwingerinthegame #fact !

 class

I can't wait til Tony is back. The thought of him, Nani, Berb and Rooney right now

After all the 'he could be back sooner than expected' articles in recent months I'd got it in my head he was expected back early Feb. This feels like a set back now :(

I would discount any impact Valencia could have for us this season. He maybe classed as physically capable of playing in and around march but six months out and getting back to the business end of the season is going to be hard.

Loom towards next season when he has a full summer of training and another 6 months post return to get match fitness.

Physically he is a monster so as long as his ankle is feeling good I see no reason why he won't be able to make a real impact. With a couple of reserve games to get his match fitness followed by a couple of games as an impact sub to find his touch and get back to the pace of the Premier League, theres no reason why he couldn't give us a good couple of months of good football in a key period of the season.

April will belong to Valencia.

I think you have Valencia confused with Hargreaves

Agreed!! Anyone would think he was coming back from holiday. His impact wont be half as what people are expecting. He'll need time to come back from that type of injury. Every remembers how Ruud's ankle injury affected him and he never broke nothing.

Valencia is the baddest man in town, he's a beast and he's determined. He'll be back quicker than normal footballers. He'll probably need a month to rediscover his swagger, and that is why April is his.

One of my fav players & i hope he comes back & makes an impact. But like some of the other guys i'm not expexting much from him this term. Not many players come back the same after such an injury but i think valencia will, just not untill maybe next season. But hey i HOPE he proves me wrong! 

Absolutely spot on.I expect (hopefully won't happen) many niggling injuries being him back to his physical best.

Do not underestimate the impact of a long term injury..Plus the fact that players who were for such a long very rarely hit back their top form after a couple of reserve games and sub appearances.
I'm not saying I'm 100% sure of it but it will be a big surprise if Valencia plays at half of his ability this season

Do you reckon this will have an effect on his pace?

It will depend on how well his body recovers really, from the sound of things his recovery has gone well and he's been using the under water treadmill to steadily improve strength, so hopefully not.

I am not sure whether tbeing a so called physical beast has any bearing -Essien was a supposed beast and now he has had been plagued by injury after sustaining an ACL.

Alan Smith said he came back too soon in about 7 or 8 months and had problems. So expecting Valencia back in 6 months is pushing something too far. Yes he is a top player but if you want to see him hit the heights again I hope he is not rushed into this.

Valencia out with physios every day. All clear from the doctors. Back with first team end of Feb. SAF: "It's a big boost for us" #mufc

Sounds very positive. Maybe the end of Feb is being careful with him as some expressed concern over, rather than rushing him back this month.

End of Feb means he could return either away to Marseille or away to Wigan.

Which would be fitting against his former club. :)

Loving his attitude during his injury - top notch professional, Valencia.

Realistically, it'll be early March and we can't expect him to come back from his injury in form. Could be very useful in April though!

Agreed, a couple of reserve games first probably as sub, then a full outing, then subs bench for the 1st team.

Early March sounds about right

The man is on his way...

Good News on the Valencia Front!

Having missed a huge chunk of the season with a bad injury, there is light at the end of the tunnel for Antonio Valencia.

It`s being reported that the Ecuador international is getting ready to pull on his boots for a competitive outing for the reserves inside the next fortnight.

If that`s the case, and all goes well, Valencia could well be in contention for a first team return for the forthcoming FA Cup 5th round tie against non-league Crawley.

I'm gonna hesitate before getting too excited (I've seen too many players struggle to come back from that injury) but that's wonderful news.

straight shots and we pop bottles!

I've missed him. Fantastic player and professional, you dont hear a peep out of him. He's like Paul Scholes. Does his business, gets on with his job and looks forward to the next game.

Fingers crossed he gets back to his best. Some players never fully get back to their best after a leg break.

Some players never get back to their best for no reason, see Wayne Rooney. I expect nothing other than superb effort from Valencia and expect to see some flashes and impact from him this season, with him hitting form at the start of next year, I also expect him to be more two footed now.
