Harsh there Snow I think.

He gave Wigan a torrid time, seems to have his initial change of pace back which gives him the seperation he needs to get his crosses in. Very good to have him clicking again as Young may take a couple weeks beyond getting over his initial knee complaint.

Well. He was in the right back slot but played as a winger. He had an excellent game but wouldn't got so far to say that he's back to his best.

Last 4 games: 6 assists and 1 goal. One and a half of those games playing as a full back.

That's some stunning productivity right there. I'd take this kind of form all day.

Valencia is the kind of player who is lethal against lower opposition who don't have good fullbacks. He is so direct, he causes havoc.

They've been easy(ish) games but you just can't knock a winger/full-back creating as many chances as Valencia has over the past few games. Beats the hell out of me how someone who is as "one-dimensional" as many caftards claim can be so difficult to defend against.

I think the interesting thing about valencia is that when he's on form, he's not as predictable yet anything he doesn't surprise you. You can tell the vast difference when he's confident. That shot came out of nowhere and you could tell he's really in the mood. The big indication for Tony V is his decision making. It improves exponentially when he's on form.

When he's not, he frustrates the hell out of you with that kick the ball forward and cross approach. You dont see him so limited to that nowadays. Just looks like he knows what he's doing out there instead of being in robot mode

He was having a very poor season but he's been brilliant since the second half of that Wolves game. Definitely starter at the moment.

As a full back against weaker opposition he's a great weapon to have, with him and Nani on the right wing it pins them back and pulls them out of shape. They need to pull a man across to keep one marked and double up on the other and the space that creates in the centre is so important to us.

This game was good, but surely his previous three matches were better than this one.

So he has been back for two weeks.

Valencia now has the second best assist ratio on the league (7 in 11) only Silva betters him (8 in 19)

Great to have him back to his first season form

Good stat all the same. All the more impressive considering how often he's played at full-back.

Valencia is my favourite football player, bar none. Just saying.

I just had a look at my amazing statistics thread.

He has played 11 matches in the league, 7 starts and 4 sub appearances.

Four starts and one sub appearance at right-back.
Three starts and three sub sppearances on the right wing.

So that's really an impressive stat and ratio.

Jaysus, this thread is turning into a maths car crash.

Yeah I didn't really word it right did I :o

What I meant was only Silva betters him in terms of Assists (Nasri, Mata and Nani all also having 7 assists but in more games)

EDIT: Actually my first post still doesn't make sense so I'll leave it alone now :(

Yeah, even if you know for sure he's going one way, you can't afford to gamble on that since he's electric and strong as an oxe. Perfect combination of pace and power  I love his style of crossing, no fussing about by floating them, he's drilling them hard!

By far our most in form and productive attacking player being totally wasted at the moment playing full back.

So annoying when Rafael is sat on the bench.

It's odd. Can only assume Rafael is training badly or still carrying a niggle. I'm sure Fergie would prefer to play them both in their best positions.

We definitely need him on the right wing and put Nani on the left. There's nothing going on on the left. Evra is all alone. No use playing him out of position when Rafael is on the bench. If he's not fit for 90 minutes then at least start him and take him off.

Really needs to move up the field, hopefully Rafael plays against City at RB and Valencia as a winger

That was absurd. I've rarely seen a ref so clearly have it in for one player for absolutely no reason at all. My mates and I began to shout "foul" every time the ball approached Valencia for the last 20 minutes or so. Surreal.

One of our better players today despite that. I love the guy and it's lovely to see him back in great form.

My thinking was fergie was worried about the physical nature of Newcastle with set pieces and small fullbacks and also with Rafael/evra being adventurous could be exposed on both sides.

Once we went 2-0 down thought Rafael on for park and move Valencia up as they weren't challenging us with cross and we needed to be more attacking down the wings as centrally we had feck-all going for us

Great cross today and overall he has been very good the past few weeks. Hope SAF stops playing him at RB.

Some sublime crosses today, especially the last one that Welbeck narrowly missed.
