Give him a chance to develop. God, he gives a couple of good games, he's a great player, wonderful signing, a brilliant addition, well worth the money. He has a couple of bad one's, he's a waste of money, a nothing signing, etc.

His performance was very poor when we know what he can do.He's the most predictable winger in the team but that doesn't necessarily mean a bad thing

He's done nothing to suggest he is ever going to be a quality player for us. He's done well, and of course he should be given more time, but you look at the wingers we've had throughout the 90's and the 00's, and Valencia just doesn't stack up to them. It's our worst set of wide players in a long time.

Yep. :(

Probably a lot of the reason why United don't seem as electric as they have been in recent seasons

The jury is out on Valencia, he has had some great games and always gives his all. However I think he is a bit one dimensional...He looked good for a few games but has faded away somewhat...

He looked a bit jaded today, might be a good idea to rest him in the next game as he has played almost every game since joining us. The Ronaldo Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime are here in full force as usual I see, whinin about him never going to be a star, which every person with some IQ already were aware of and had accepted before we even had signed him.

It's not even that his crossing is that poor, his biggest problem stems from the fact he never use his left foot, I know it has been done to death. But in recent timesf, if he had done so there have been oppurtunities to go in on goal if he used his left foot. When he was on a break today the fact that he dribbled with his right foot allowed the defender on the outside of him to nick the ball away had he used his left foot he would have had an excellent chance to score. I think he is a good player, but limited.

His form has dipped a bit, which I expected. He's a good player though, on form he's very dangerous as we've seen, and I think he can get even better.

the jury is not out - he's clearly been an excellent buy and has finally had a couple of below par performances. Both wingers were shut out vs Hull and Giggs doesn't have much to prove does he? For those Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime saying how predictable he is, it hasn't helped defenders to stop him for the most part has it?

To be fair, in Giggs, Beckham and Ronaldo we've had arguably three of the best five wingers of the last two decades (along with Messi and Figo). Unless we signed Messi there's not another winger in the world today who does stack up to those three players.

Valencia's last four or five games have been a bit disappointing, but he was our best player for most of October and November. If he can reach that level on a consistent basis then he certainly is going to be a quality player for us.

As someone said earlier, he may be a bit jaded after playing so many games. He and Evra are rarely injured or rested. Perhaps he will sit out the Leeds and first leg against City games. Overall, he's a good signing so far. He and Giggs are clearly our best wingers and need to be kept fresh for the big matches.

solid, not spectacular. i'd agree with your post.

I think he just needs to take on some more responsibility and realize what we need and expect from him. He has the ability to do what we want, which is commit the full back and put him on the back foot constantly, just keep testing him and trying to create an opening.

I feel its more a mental thing, he needs to be in the state of mind that, he will create something every time he gets the ball, too often he chooses to keep it safe, but in his position we need more than that.

He has pace to burn, close control and great acceleration from a stand still, and an understated first touch. Just needs the belief and direction.

For example in the game upon receiving the ball quite deep when he is faced with the left back, he often chooses to lay it back to the the midfielder or look straight away for the striker, he could do with just running at his man and putting the defender on the back foot each time and isolating him before they can get more men back, that in itself will create space and have people backing off him, like ronaldo. Its a learning curve atm, he will improve.

Didn't actually think he had that bad of a game, few others played worse than he did. One thing that did annoy me was that he seemed to repeatingly ignore Rafael's overlapping runs. Could tell even the youngster was pissed off at him right before he went off.

Glad he listened. He's had a good game today, some of his decision making and crossing was off but overall pretty good. Him and Rafael have ripped their left hand side apart

7 goals in 15 games now. Fantastic for a debut season, hopefully this performance tonight will give him the confidence to really push on.

Still had a majority of poor crosses. However, when he looks up and plays a pass instead he's much better as I've said before. Had a good game.

Brilliant today, beats player whips cross, beats player whips cross, beats player whips cross. Scores Goals too and a top signing from SAF as usual.

He's got a brilliant knack of just comepletely destroying average/crap defences. And 7 in 15 games is brilliant for a winger at a new club. Next step I guess would be for him to turn these performences in against better clubs.

All looking good so far.

Good performance tonight and a beautiful, well deserved goal. If he keeps improving and playing like that, there wont be any complaints from me!

give them time. they will be amazing by the end of the season

Well said.

Some absolute drivel posted in this thread about a player who is having a better debut season than anyone dared hope.

I would say it's brilliant for any right winger whose name is not Cristiano Ronaldo.
Besides Ronaldo didn't influence the big matches until the 06/07 season, so as you say very rightly, as time goes on Valencia's performance in big matches will improve.

Figueroa didn't even bother trying to defend against him in the end.

A great performance by him tonight.

Anybody following in the footsteps of CR7 was going to be looked down upon but has certainly done more than enough to justify his inclusion in the first 11.

Starting to look like a really good signing.

Valencia is top class, so glad Rafael's looking good.. in my opinion if Rafael secures a slot in the team, Valencia will just get better and better.

You do realise that when a winger "looks up and plays a pass" it's still a cross, right?

Just thought I'd point that out. You're doing your standard routine of making yourself seem considerably more stupid than you actually are, in a desperate attempt to avoid admitting a previous opinion may need to be revised. You really should stop it.

Its a side footed technique, not a crossing technique. Its a pass as with anywhere else on the pitch. To cross the ball you use a different technique. You get underneath the ball and lift it. When he has to dig out crosses from the wing its usually not very good. His short passing is better than most wingers in the league though, hence why he can play centrally as well.
