He looks so much more dangerous when playing with a RB that gets forward well

Exactly. How many times have O'shea, Neville or even Fletcher at RB made overlapping runs which open up better crossing opportunities? Very few times because none of our other right backs get forward as much. Unless you're Ronaldo, or Messi it's always going to be hard to take on men by yourself and then create space and put in a good cross for our strikers, both of whom aren't known for attacking the cross or great in the air.

Valencia has now scored in half a season, the entire amount of goals he scored in his stint at Wigan. I'd say thats quite an improvement.

Atmost i think we can expect 15 goals from him in all competitions in a season and that to be fair is a very very good amount for a winger not named Ronaldo.

I like Valencia. He drives a shit car, is quick as feck, works harder than almost any other player at the club and he's made the right wing his own.

I don't like Ekeke. He's a stubborn, arrogant tool.

 After all this time, you're still there insulting me and I'm still here not insulting you back. At this point you just sound somewhat obsessed. But if you feel insulting me is a constructive use of your time, knock yourself out.

I didn't know
What car?

And I agree! Valencia has made the right wing his own. That's true quality!

Some excellent and insightful posting there Joga (as usual), too complex for ekeke to grasp, so he turns it into a simplistic agreeance with himself being correct lol.

Is there really any need? You do seem to come across as very patronising towards posters you have a disagreement with.

 remember the reaction when I started a thread suggesting we were going to buy him last year.

He's been an infuriating player to watch at times. He's got everything in his locker to do for us what Lennon has been doing for Spurs but at times seems hestitant to really run at defences. Last night was his best game for us and he needs to show the same mentality from now on. He and Rafael linked up superbly.

Valencia is simply not that type of player, and the current strikers are not the type who can make an average or poor ball in to a good one, either — at least, not in the air.

Good post

For the record, I think Valencia does play some good balls 'into an area' but also at times keeps a cool head (evidenced by his cutback to Carrick)

I cant wait to Diouf arrives, even off the bench he'll offer Valencia a better target than "Brooney"

Hope so too.

Brwned is well on the way to winning our little bet and fair play to him.

I always said it was a win win for me, couldn't be happier to see him banging the goals in but what has been just as impressive for me is the way he keeps possession, his burst of pace and his strength on the ball.

What was the bet? How many goals he'd get...?

Rafael and Valencia are a great combination on the right. My only concern would be Rafa drifing in-field which could have been punished a couple of times today.

Wish Evra had a good consistent left winger to play alongside...

Alright Sults mate.

On the Evra thing: agreed. I know we've seen only little snippets of Obertan, but he seems top have a pretty natural link with Evra whenever they've featured together. Worth giving that combo a bit more playing time.

Aye, Brwned said he'd reach double figures, I doubted it going off his record for Wigan so a small £5 wager was placed and recorded by Top for his betting thread. I said I'd give my potential winnings to charity but I know Brwned is a poor student with a penchant for expensive Swedish cider so I don't know what he's doing with his potential winnings.

All good B

I was actually hoping Obertan would be given a start yesterday. He's been good in his few cameos.

We really can't ask for anything more from Valencia at the moment. He's been in great form, and he's got the stats to show for it.

You can't expect him to be performing to that level straight away at a new club given how long it's taken Lennon to get to that level at Spurs.

Did you see this...?

In Cristiano Ronaldo’s first 26 games last season, he scored 10 goals.
Goals in the league:

1 against Bolton – 13th (penalty)
Average position: 14th

Assists in the league: 2

Goals in the League Cup:
1 against Boro – 19th
1 against Derby – 18th in the Championship

In Antonio Valencia’s first 26 games, he’s scored 7 goals.
Goals in the league:
1 against Bolton – 18th
1 against Everton – 11th

Average position: 15th

Assists in the league: 5

Goals in the Champions League:

not too shabby in new surroundings versus the BPITW

Valencia came to a new club, had to adapt himself to new team mates, playing style, tactics etc.. he's done well.

Not meaning to belittle Valencia's achievements, but Ronaldo was coming from an injury and the first half of his season was declared to be 'average'.

Yes, but I don't think anyone's expecting Valencia to reach the heights Ronaldo did at the peak of his form and fitness; and I think people are quite impressed with what Valencia has done considering he's not had much time at the club, and many were unsure he had the quality to be our main right-winger. Using stats from a period when Ronaldo was not at full fitness though, will obviously distort the truth a bit.

I've been quite impressed by Valencia so far. He's looked dangerous on the wing, skillful on the ball and popped up with more goals than I'd expected. He's not been a revelation, but he's played well, and hopefully he'll keep on improving (which he has done since an ineffectual first few games).

He was one of the best on the pitch against Wigan. Fair play to him, showed some variation, nicked a goal as well. Looked more composed in his overall game than he was in his recent outings before Wigan. Hopefully he can build on that.

what's the point comparing ronaldo's first season in united with valencia's? he's not supposed to cover "ronaldo 2003", he's supposed to cover today's ronaldo.

i do however think that valencia has done a great job at united.

Your wishing that was Ronaldo's stats for 2003!!!

ooh, my misstake, i've seen a couple of sites comparing their first season at united, so i kind of thought that you were going down the same line.

makki, get a life

thank god for him, he makes a really huge difference. feck you critics.

Valencia is a very good player. He has something that we don't have that much off, PACE. I thought he did very well when he came on. I'm a big fan anyway.

My cocks been out since mid october over him. What a brilliant little signing. 16m wasn't cheap, but he's certainly risen to the United level. On par with Giggs, Rooney & Evra as player of the season.

fecking hell :wenger:

He has great days and he has shit days. He's certainly still bedding in, but when he does play well he plays very well.

But to say he's a frontrunner for our player of the season? Madness.

He's been the only player to make some what of a difference in our cagey matches this season. Against Leeds and Liverpool, he created chances, and brought life in to the squad. He's delivered most of the time and only on occasion has his form dipped. Same can be said about Rooney and Giggs to be frank. Very happy with his performances and deserves some credit.
